“lovely place to stay in Rome in Vatican area”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

My husband and stayed here for the second time last September, this time with our adult sons. I meant to do a review at the time but didn't get around to it. I've been prompted to now as we've just returned from our first trip abroad since staying at Sant'Anna and it couldn't have been more different. We stayed in a Trend hotel in Vienna, where a relative had stayed. Whilst I cannot critiicise this hotel for cleanliness, comfort and the breakfasts, what a contrast with Sant'Anna!! it was a world apart, being very large, anonymous and characterless (area likewise.) It made me appreciate Sant'Anna even more and think fondly of it and its staff, and ensure that I do more research next time I book a city break. Some people are not too bothered about their room/hotel on a short break, saying that you don't spend much time there anyway, but I don't agree!
The staff cannot be more obliging - particularly Andrea and Antonella.
The only slightly negative thing we experienced was a couple of electrical items not working (not dangerous in any way.) Perhaps, Viscato, the owner, could do a little updating of such items - likewise the computer system. However, this may well have been attended to since we went, and I wouldn't hesitate in going back to Santa'Anna which I hope will be in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the back, maybe?

The Hotel Santa Anna is a 3 minute walk to/from the Vatican. The room are clean; room rates are reasonable and the staff speaks fluent English. That is a pretty unbeatable combination. Highly recommended.

I've stayed in Sant Anna twice over a few years and every time it was great stay. I stayed in two different rooms and my favorite one was the one with a small balcony with beautiful view. The hotel is clean and service was excellent.
It is located just outside the walls of the Vatican City. It is about 5 minutes from the Vatican Museum, St Peter's and with plenty of small restaurants just outside the door.

We booked this hotel for accommodation for our wedding party of 15 people and everything went without a hitch. In total we booked 8 rooms and everyone was very pleased. The hotel organised the taxi transfers from airport which worked very well as there were 3 different flights on different days.
The breakfast was delicious not just the standard but a whole array of choices. The children just loved the croissants as they were oozing with Nutella! Yum! I would DEFINITELY recommended you go there even if it's a short break you should try it out. The hotel is very clean the staff are amazingly helpful and it is in a prime location for the Vatican City!" Just a stroll up the street and you're at St.Peters square! We were married at the church of Sant Anna which is also literally 'up the road'. The street outside the hotel is full of restaurants tumbling out onto road so it is safe for the children to play a little. This hotel was recommended by a local priest and I am happy to say that he didn't let us down. We shall return some day soon.

My wife and I got dropped off on the very busy street on which the Hotel Sant Anna is located. It's a small street with lots of outdoor restaurant seating, stores and people, therefore, very few vehicles attempt to drive on it. The hotel was just a short walk from where we were dropped off and I was a little disappointed that no one came and helped us with our bags. We managed to get them inside by ourselves and up to our rooms. They do have an elevator but it is very tiny (two people max). My wife and I had to take turns going up to our room with our bags. Again, no help. Our room was very satisfactory with a king bed, large built-in couch for our bags and a balcony. The balcony had a very high wall that you could not see over into the street but it was nice none the less. We slept with the balcony doors open and believe it or not there was very little street noise after 11:00 PM. The breakfast buffet was great and the service was good, too. We ate kind of late each morning and never lacked for food. Location was good for the Vatican but most of the stores in the area were Vatican/Pope related. Lots of restaurants on the street with sit-down and take out eating. Go down to the end of the street away from the Vatican and try Borgo Antico, we ate there two nights in a row. On my last day, I found a little bakery just a few doors up the street toward the Vatican on the same side of the street as the hotel run by a little old guy and his wife. Good stuff and wine for sale too! Be aware that this hotel is pretty far from the center of Rome. We did the hop on, hop off bus which has a stop very close to the hotel. All in all, no complaints except for the lack of help at arrival,

This is our favorite hotel in Rome. The facility is flawless in every respect and the price is reasonable. The rooms are excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is generous. The hotel's location, just a few blocks from Vatican City, is ideal for sightseeing, dining, and shopping. It is small but yet caters equally well to both business and vacation travelers. When I think of Rome I think of the Hotel Sant'Anna.

The location of the hotel was perfect, which is why we chose it! Right next to Vatican City and walking distance from the city center and amazing shopping. We stayed here for 3 nights (early October) and the breakfast buffet was included, which is always a nice bonus. There was more of a variety than our other hotels in Italy (scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages, fruits, rolls, pastries, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, milk, etc). The staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating. We stayed in a quadruple room, which had 1 king bed and 2 single beds; still very roomy. Had a lovely balcony and the bathroom was quite big.
