“New Year in Rome”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Great location and fantastic little hotel. A street away from the Vatican makes it a great for St Peter's, Sistine Chapel, etc.. but also walking distance to many of Rome's other sights.

Friendly & helpful staff made our stay, with useful advise on getting round the busy tourist spots and recommending some superb places to eat & drink. Francesco serving breakfast was a blast and really made us feel welcome, even with New Year hangover!

I strongly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a Vatican based hotel and will hopefully return sometime in the future.

My husband and I booked a room at the Alimandi B&B but were upgraded when we arrived to stay in the Hotel Alimandi Tunisi, which was wonderful and a great experience in every way. We had a little trouble finding it after getting off at the Cipro metro stop, but after a quick call to the hotel with some good directions, we found it just fine. The front desk staff were always helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and quiet almost all the time. There are two elevators for those on higher floors (we were on the first floor somewhat near the lobby). The breakfast buffet in the morning is excellent with hot food, cereal, yogurt, cheese, breads (sweet and savory) and coffee, juice, and milk. All of this is served by the very friendly Francesco on their rooftop terrace. The hotel is located just a few steps from the Vatican Museum entrance and a few blocks from two metro stops and several convenient bus stops (#23 being our most used and favorite). Many stores and restaurants are also nearby along with two grocery stores and a laundromat. This was an exceptional value per night as well, and the rate included breakfast. We would recommend the Hotel Alimandi for anyone visiting Rome. The only issue is that it is not as convenient for walking to the historic city center, but the bus system is well connected to the area, and perfect for getting around.

Very good location to visit Vatican. Everything was very clean. Kind and friendly staff. Very helpful. I was glad they were flexible to adjust my booking.

Breakfast is rather poor, once we had cold scrambled eggs, cappuccino is not drinkable.

The Almandi Tunisi is directly across from the Vatican Museum and around the corner from St. Peter's Square. Could not be better positioned for a visit to this beautiful city. They serve a generous breakfast and are always ready to prepare a coffee if you need a pick-me-up. This is a 3 star hotel that merits its rating. Staff are prepared to give you advise on what to do and where to go. I'd stay there anytime.

We stayed at the Almandi Tunisi in late June - early July. The hotel is located in a convenient place close to the Vatican, but in the evening when the tourists leave the neighborhood reverts to a setting with small restaurants, shops and local residents.
The family that owns and operates the hotel and two other facilities nearby are very invested in making you feel welcome. In addition, the staff made a number of great recomendations as to where to eat in the neighborhood,
As others have commented, Franscesco the breakfast chef is a special delight, and makes your day start with a smile.
The rooftop terrace is is a great place to have breakfast, or a glass of wine before (or after dinner). Having the terrrace available makes up to some extent for the relatively small size of the room.
Although the room was small, it was designed to have adequate space to store clothing and was was comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well, and the bathroom (with a walk in shower) was actually rather large for a european property.
There is no question that we would stay there again.

Can't think of a better place to be: clean, friendly, great breakfast, just across from the entrance to the Vatican Museum and loads of shops, restaurants, phone store, and supermarket with a convienent Catholic Church just down the street.

We also stayed at the Vaticano the sister hotel to the Tunisi on our most recent trip. Both are just great. Quiet neighborhood and safe surroundings. Hello to Nico and Barbara!

Room Tip: I liked #131 with a view of the steps and a walk in shower.

I really liked this hotel. I booked another hotel for my Rome trip (4 nights) but it was so far so I booked Hotel Alimandi Tunisi two weeks before my arrival, and I still found the price reasonable considering it's so close to the Vatican and breakfast was included. I didn't expect five-star amenities (No one should hang out in their hotel when in the eternal city!), but it was good for the basics: bed was okay, aircon wasn't freezing, there was a TV, a safe, a small ref, and a clean bathroom with a tub. The staff were nice enough to help me even if I arrived at midnight. Although the hotel is quite far from "central" Roman sights like Piazza Navona and the Trevi, it's some 30 seconds away from the Vatican Museums and if you follow the walls, you'll be in St. Peter's Square in less than 10 minutes. The subway is some 5-7mins walk away, and there are some good restaurants and gelaterias nearby. The cook was so friendly and chatty, and the breakfast was okay. Highly recommended, and will definitely stay here the next time I'm in Rome. :)
