“Great Location; Not great room”
Reviewed 12 June 2008

This is a tricky review as I liked the hotel and the staff and the location was excellent. You could literally walk to 3/4 of the attractions in Rome and hit the subway for the rest. The hotel was charming, breakfast was great!!! But the room was awful. We were a family of four and expected a tiny, cramped room -- in fact we were warned of it by the hotel. But the rooms were dingy. Not particularly clean, the bathroom was downright dangerous and cheap. The rooms were small but outdated by 30 years with a radio or some contraption in the wall that had to be state of the art in the 50s and should have been removed in the 60s. The side room with two single beds had two windows, but they were looking out into the elevator shaft which was quite noisy. While we spend very little time in our room, it was disappointing. I might go back if it was merely my wife and I. She won't go back and I would never go back with more than two people. However, the staff and location make the hotel worthwhile and it does have lots and lots of charm. The coffee at breakfast, made fresh for you by your waitress, was soo good, I couldn't wait to go to bed at night.

I stayed at Hotel Due Torri on the recommendation of a business associate from Milan. The hotel was spot on as he recommended. It's down a tight alley not far from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The area is very picturesque and has lots of charm. The hotel is cozy and very typical for an in-town European hotel.

My room was a single on the 1st floor, that's really the second floor for North Americans. It was on par with an American walk-in closet but suited me fine. The bathroom had a shower and a toilet with washlet. I didn't spend much time in the room as there is soo much to see in Rome.

Everyone there was reasonably helpful and friendly, with particular emphasis on the friendliness of the night desk clerk. He helped me quiet down some rowdy neighbors who came in from a night of drinking at 4am.

The breakfast is included in the rate and is really great!!! Don't miss out on the breakfast which is served until 11am. They will make any coffee you desire from cappuccino to latte macciatto's. and plenty of pastries, juice, and cereals.

Only one thing concerned me about staying here. One night, I was returning to the hotel and one of the 2 ways to get to the hotel was completely dark. I'm not sure if the street lights were broken because I couldn't remember it being that dark before. But, it was moderately scary passing though the dark area before reaching the bright lights of the hotel entrance.

But, all in all, it was a nice place and would recommend it to anyone.

I just spent 4 lovely days at Due Torri and could not have been more pleased.

For the money and location, I can't imagine finding a better value.

Yes, my single room was small, but for one person it was absolutely fine. There's a roomy closet, a desk, a small flatscreen TV, and even a little step-out balcony. The room was spotless, the bathroom very new, and (ironed!) towels were brought in every day.

Within 5 minutes walk you are at the Pantheon. In the other direction, you're at Piazza Navona.

Note: do print out a map of their location (on their website) to show your cab driver. The street is small and unknown.

***ALSO, beware of unscrupulous cab drivers in Rome! Make sure they turn on their meters (unless coming from airport, which is a fixed price). I had a driver who didn't turn on his meter, and then tried to charge me 35 Euros for an 8 Euro ride!

My wife & I spent 3 wonderful nights at this great hotel where the location, staff, breakfast and everything experienced was extremely good. Attentive staff; great recommendations for restaurants and a location which allowed us to walk to most locations visited. Will definately stay here again!

We spent just a couple of nights at this hotel recently and were very pleased with it. The Hotel is on a small street which may not be too easy to find, but the immediate location is very good with shops, cafes and restaurants nearby and its just a short walk to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. The breakfast room and other public areas are remarkably spacious and comfortable for a hotel of this size and the bedrooms well equipped and nicely decorated. The bed was large and comfortable and the room had plently of storage space plus a well planned bathroom. Reception staff were friendly and efficient and the buffet breakfast very good.

The rave reviews we'd read about this hotel turned out to be overblown. Tho we had presumably one of the best rooms in the hotel (as the hotel was almost empty), it was very small, and the bathroom downright cramped. It DID have a delightful view over the rooftops of Rome (and of a medieval tower off to one side), because it was on the top/4th floor. The vaunted "antique furniture" is more like "old furniture". The brochure says it has been "thoroughly restored", but that must have been years ago, as everything needs "refreshing" and seems tired.

The location is indeed great for exploring historic Rome by foot. It is on an a narrow medieval lane (so narrow our taxi from the station wouldn't venture down it, but getting taxis to pick us up there was not a problem) and is in the midst of a maze of similar lanes, so getting to a desired site (e.g. Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps) is not easy for the geographically-challenged.

The staff were pleasant, and for the most part very well informed and helpful. Buffet breakfast was acceptable.

This small hotel located on a tiny street, almost too narrow for taxis, was delightful. Our room was small, but clean. The staff was helpful and friendly in suggesting restaurants nearby and providing useful tips for sightseeing. The breakfasts were well above average even on Italy's high statndards.
