“Fantastic experience all round”

Beautiful hotel, ideally situated close to all of Rome's main attractions, but it is so tranquil you'd never believe it!
The staff couldn't do enough for you. I made the booking as a surprise for my girlfriend's Birthday and requested they put some flowers in the room. They replied by return to suggest roses/ask what type and my budget. As we were only there a night I decided not to go crazy so gave a relatively conservative budget of €35 (given the price of flowers in the UK), saying I understood they may not get roses but I would trust their judgement. On arrival into our room there were 15 of the biggest roses I've ever seen and on top of that they had included a bottle of prosecco free of charge!
High ranking on Trip Advisor for a reason and even within a week of departure got a great deal, a third of the price of those hotels deemed better.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Superb location, a few minutes walk from the train station, 7 minutes from all the main attractions!
Very friendly staff. Gave us a room upgrade with a view to the square for no extra charge. Surprisingly, the room was quiet although the square was noisy. Air condition worked perfectly.
Breakfast is more than enough.
Really cool room, spacious, classic design and a convenient bathroom.
The only "problem" is giving the room key to the front desk whenever we exited the hotel. I guess it's since the room key is an actual key :) .
Highly recommended !

The fifth floor has a small bridge (not sure to where is leads) where you have a really cool view for the city and Florence Cathedral (Il Duomo).

Super clean and very quiet. In Trastevere you are tucked away from the city masses. You will find a labyrinth of quiet narrow streets that will eventually lead you to open squares filled with restaurants and shops just steps away from the hotel. Once on the hotel grounds, you will find smiles everywhere from the staff. All staff members were attentive and very professional right down to the restaurant and cleaning staff. I was first impressed with the hotel's proactive offer to pick us up at the airport. I was then impressed with the quiet garden areas and the super clean rooms that had climate control in each of our two bedrooms. At the end of a hot July day touring Rome, we enjoyed sitting outside our room where there was a roof top patio (complete with an herb and fruit tree garden) with lounge chairs and tables that provided a nice relaxing place to end a busy touring day.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 15. If you need a 2 bedroom. It is up a flight of stairs, but you will have a large roo...

What a fantastic find! We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel and couldn't have been happier. It was quiet and yet in a central location. Breakfast in the courtyard was a fantastic way to start our day. Very peaceful. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy and the room was perfect - actually the best place we stayed on a month long Europe trip!

Can't say enough good things about this place. The staff organized someone to pick us up from the airport. It would have been hard to get there on our own as while it is close to everything, it is tucked away. Used to be a monastery and the place still has the quiet, sanctuary feel.

The room was nice, comfortable beds. We had a room just off the courtyard which is one of the most beautiful places in all of Rome. With the orange trees and blooming flowers. The breakfast served every morning is wonderful. We never at lunch during our three day stay in Rome because we were always so full from breakfast. Their Caffe Lattes were just amazing.

We walked to all of the sites in Rome from Santa Maria. The walks are a little far (mile or so) because Santa Maria is on the other side of the river from all the big attractions, but the walk felt very safe and the weather was beautiful so it wasn't a problem.

Staff was incredibly helpful and there's good shops and restaurants right around the corner. If you don't want to stay amid the hustle and bustle that is Rome, but still want to be able to walk to the attractions, Santa Maria is your place.

The Hotel Santa Maria is very nice and located in a wonderful neighborhood. I am a very heavy sleeper and this hotel was very noisy to me. I could hear the conversations of the guests in the rooms surrounding my room. In addition, the common area is very nice, but conversations ensued late in to the evenings - and I know Rome stays awake very late, but on two evenings other guests were in the court yard past midnight. I know everything about their day, including the flavors of gelato they enjoyed (mango was the best). Breakfast begins at 7:00 am, which I can attest to because everyone walks on the rocks beginning at 7:00 am. There is nothing the hotel staff can do about the noise - but I would be cautious about staying in this hotel, especially if you are light sleeper.

We have nothing but good memories of our stay at the Santa Maria. (except that we slept through the last breakfast :(. But the staff was sweet enough to still round us up some Cappucino and pastry :). Our driver from the airport had a hard time finding the hotel, so I would next time use the service that the hotel themselves suggests. (we booked another company)
The Piazza at the Santa Maria church, barely two blocks away is buzzing at night. Fun!

Room Tip: My boyfriend and I had the biggest room in the place. Very pleasant. My sister and son shared a two...
