Loved, loved, loved the Hotel Santa Maria! Everything about it was gorgeous, and all the TA reviews were accurate. It is an oasis from the madness of Rome but Trastavere is an experience all its own and so delightful. It's no surprise this hotel is in the Rome top ten. Would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in a twin room for 2 nights and then the Mansarda Suite for 4. Both were excellent. Breakfast and Happy Hour food were great. Staff wonderful. Etc etc. Just go there!

An absolutely charming hotel set in a lovely mini-grove of citrus trees. Centered in the best part of Trastevere and yet hidden from view. A lovely retreat with afternoon happy hours and a generous breakfast buffet. Beds are comfy and the shower was the best we had in all our travels throughout Italy. You'll be happy if you like little boutique hotels.

Small oasis in the middle of Rome, is that even possible. Yes it is, Hotel Santa Maria is exactly that. Somewhat difficult to find but worth the effort. The rooms were quiet with great a/c, there is happy hour from 17h30 with great snacks served and a chance to chat to the other guests, a great way to know what to plan for in days ahead. We were a family of parents with teenagers and the room was perfect. The staff was very helpful. We went to Sperlonga beach south of Rome with the help of the front desk and what a wonderful experience that was. Breakfast is included and not to be missed - sit in courtyard under the orange trees and chat to your neighbours. We will absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Only 21 rooms, we were in room 20. Be warned that if you are tall you will have difficulty fitting i...

Hotel Santa Maria is a very nice hotel, located 10-15 minutes by walk from most of the landmarks in Rome. They have a great staff, from front desk all the way to the restaurant, being very friendly, welcoming and making the experience their enjoyable. To add to the experience, there’s a courtyard and a terrace to help relax. The rooms were spacious, traditional and neat, perfect for 4 people. There are good restaurants close by in walking distance as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everybody!

This is the warmest, prettiest, nicest hotel you can find in Rome for its price value. The service is top of the line, the rooms are pretty, spacious, clean and the beds very comfortable. The restaurant outdoors under the orange trees is a dream come true and the bicycle rides on Trastevere out of a movie. The food is really good and it's quiet! Something to look for in Rome. Of course you can hear the church bells but then again... It's Rome! And it just adds more charm to this fantastic place.
Chiara was exceptionally kind and helpful, so as Valentina, the owner, who gives you very personalized treatment. If you want to spend a fairy tale stay in Trastevere, look no more!

Fantastic! We couldn't have asked for a better hotel in Rome. Attentive, helpful staff, free breakfast, happy hour in the orange grove, clean rooms, and comfortable beds. And then there's the location--the windy cobblestone streets of Trastavere cry out to be walked. Restaurants and plentiful, people watching is delightful and Gelato is only seconds away. Access to the major sights of Rome is also easy. The Vatican is a 30 walk or 8 minute taxi ride. The Forum and Coliseum are even closer.

This isn't a cookie cutter corporate hotel. The rooms are unique, the setting charming. Just what we were looking for in a European vacation.

What an oasis of hospitality in the midst of Rome's busyness! Clean, quiet, comfy rooms, wonderful breakfast and happy hour appetizers, and especially a warm, helpful staff. Claudio gets a special shoutout for helping us with everything from restaurant reservations to cabs to extracting my broken cork screw from a bottle of orvieto when my corkscrew gave up the ghost. The internet was a little funky due in part to rainy weather, but what hotel's wi-fi isn't a bit iffy? Good value for the money, and we loved the Trastavere section of Rome--charming, authentic, and well located. The rooms are varied to suit any configuration in our party: one family of four got bunkbeds for the kids; two rooms had a snore-escape daybed. Cab ride to airport was about 35 painless, stress-free minutes.
