This small hotel is an oasis of calm in the busy Trastevere district of Rome. Great area to be in as it’s full of lovely restaurants, bars and unique shops. Lovely breakfast and super friendly staff always ready to help.

The location and the place itself are really peaceful, near enough to the busy centre to make it accessible, but really nice to come back to and quiet to sleep. The decor is fine, quite simple (all the better for it, particularly nice to have a good shower that was easy to operate!) but really clean and everything worked. Along with the location, the staff were the real stars of the show: really smiley and friendly, which set the tone for our days and evenings. It was great - we would return in a heartbeat!

We loved Hotel Santa Maria. It is in a great neighborhood, Trastevere. The location makes it easy to walk just about anywhere in Rome. The staff is so friendly, and speaks great English. The breakfast is good, and each evening they have happy hour with a selection of delicious appetizers & wine. We will definitely return to this hotel.

Our room was alongside the courtyard, not far from the office or the breakfast rooms. I believe we had a standard double but it was entirely adequate for space. The bathroom was well equipped. We were very tired on arrival and this place was like an oasis in the city - quiet and lovely. All of the staff are very pleasant and helpful. This was our second visit to Rome. We really enjoyed staying in the Trastevere neighborhood. It was convenient for the food tour we took, the Vatican and it was easy to get to the Capuchin Crypt and museum. We stayed 2 nights prior to a cruise.

A lovely, friendly and peaceful oasis in probably the nicest area to stay in Rome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the welcome was always warm. The little courtyard was delightful. Perfect location to stay in Rome - a gentle walk from all the main sights and yet quiet and relaxed. Perfect!
