“Comfortable place to stay in Rome”
Reviewed 15 September 2009

The location is really good-tucked away in a pretty alley right by the spanish steps. The hotel room was large and very comfortable and very clean. The service was great- they were all very attentive to our needs. The breakfast was also very good. They have very tasty cappuccinos. Some reviews mentioned that the walls are thin and you can hear people in other rooms- this is true . Overall, i would stay here again. It's a nice boutique luxury hotel.

Having trawlled the internet for a top class hotel that fitted my meagre salary I decided upon the Hotel Art.
First impressions were good and on arriving in the quiet side street behind one of romes most exclusive shopping districts we were greeted by a smiling and helpful concierge, the receptionist however needed a bit of coaxing to break a smile and the POD staff were helpful and courteous if more stiff than the POD itself.
The bedroom was adequate and comfortable and definitley compact , if this was a superior twin the twin must be a cupboard. The bathroom(no bath) was also small and once again style took the place of functionality with a fancy shower head that pointed most places but down. The walls had funky green glass wall tiles three or more of which were cracked, the toilet cistern required a bit of fiddling to stop the water constantly running and the finishing around the shower door was unprofessional. The rooms and hotel were spotless and the housekeeping team were most cheerful and immaculatley dressed a real credit to them. Breakfast was very good with a large selection and the courtyard was very relaxing. The fitness room would be as well closed as it want open either of the two days we were there a complete waste of space(in my opinion)
The staff at breakfast were all very nice and attentive.
I would reccommend this hotel for its excellent location and i know that quality in any capital city comes at a premium but the operators of this hotel seem to belive that corridors on each landing of different colour neon type lights make it somehow special and this is probably the worst hotel gimmick as far as a usp goes that i have ever seen this is just Art for Arts sake. I had also notified the hotel that i was bringing my daughter here to celebrate her eighteenth birthday and not a mention was made a simple happy birthday on arrival would have been nice, less preening and more customer focus!
All in all i enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Art and will possibly use it again, it is four star but in essence its just a jazzed up travel lodge at a higher cost.

I have stayed at the Art Hotel twice, once in 2005 and once in 2006, and both visits were very good.

There are lots of good things about the Art hotel but the location is definitely one of the highlights. It is literally a 5 minute walk to the Spanish steps but because you are one road removed from the main street the hotel is actually quiet and secluded, while at the same time being right in the middle of things.

My second favourite thing was the breakfast. They have an extensive breakfast and everything was high quality. I have had worse breakfasts at better, or at least higher ranked, hotels.

Décor is also a plus. The entrance to the hotel is down a long outdoor hallway and then you walk into the lobby. The outside courtyard is very well done and the indoor lobby is also a great place to just relax and have a drink.

Staff was actually very friendly. If I sound a little surprised it's because my experience at most Roman hotels has not been so good. But I found the staff both helpful and friendly really going out of their way to help out.

OK so what's the downside? The only downside is that the rooms are small -- and I mean they are small (makes the rooms at the W Lexington in New York look like mansions). The bathroom is particularly tight. But they are very clean and the beds were comfortable and the room was cool in the summer when I stayed there and warm during my winter stay. Perhaps the other downside is that the work-out facilities were also a little small. Good equipment though, really quite new and they had a steam room which was nice. But no more than 2 people in the steam room. And you really couldn't have more than 4-5 people in the gym, tops.

Personally the room size did not really bother me. We were too busy seeing the city and shopping to spend a lot of time in the room. And I am of the opinion that when I am in a place like Rome I prefer location, and cleanliness to room size. But if you need a big room (ie you may be a little heavier than your ideal weight) you may want to look elsewhere.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Rome. You really cannot beat the location, and the place has a great feel to it with friendly staff and a great breakfast. If you are staying for a long period of time (more than a week) the room size might bother you but if it's for 3-4 nights it shouldn't be a problem. I got use to it pretty quickly and the hotel has so many other benefits that you really don't even notice after awhile.

A very different hotel with very helpful staffs. The location is great, every night you can walk down to Spanish Steps and enjoy the fountain and the music and the atmosphere over there. The size of the room was good from European standard. It did not have the bath tub but the shower was good. The best thing about the hotel is the breakfast, which has tons of variety - from cereal to omlette to fruits to breads to croissant to juice to coffee/tea and many more. We absolutely loved this hotel!

Staffs are helpful - I needed a scale to weigh my luggage and they made it available for me within 5 minutes!

We loved the design. I would call it "high end modern." The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was smaller than what I generally expect to find in Texas, but to me it was a nice reminder that I was overseas. The space was well-planned and functional. The fixtures and color had such a sleek feel to them, I was like a kid in there just turning things off and on to see how they worked.
Loved the breakfast, too, and I found the concierge to be extremely helpful. They had taxis at the ready only moments after our request. And my biggest thank you to the concierge is their help on my train situation. I thought I had reservations on a high-speed train to Florence, but as it turned out, I had missed a final step on this. Not being able to speak Italian, I could not straighten this out. The concierge spent quite a bit of time researching my options and describing our wishes and needs. It so eased my mind to have help taking care of these details. Thank you, Hotel Art! We had a wonderful time!

The Hotel Art is on one of the most charming streets in all of Rome, cobblestone surrounded by art galleries and cafes. It is tucked away in a neat enclave five minutes from the Spanish Steps and great restaurants.
As you walk down the cobbled entryway, a little difficult to pull roller luggage on, you enter a uber-modern lobby with high bar against the wall.
The colors are vibrant and bold, each floor its own fluorescent orange or electric green for example.
The concierge was helpful, but not warm and friendly. Sometimes, they even appeared aloof and annoyed.
On to the room, it is all high-tech with internet on the tv, with the most un-useful keyboard ever! UGH!
It was small, they said they had none with a view, so we faced the interior courtyard. It was fine at first, functional. Then the NOISE BEGAN! You can hear the room next door flush the toilet!!! Yes, the toilet. You can hear the hum of conversations ALL night. When guests are in the hallway, you can hear clearly the conversations. The walls are paper thin and the guests were young and partying all night, came home and had more parties in the hallway.
We barely slept, and even in the morning heard so much noise as people were getting ready to leave their rooms.
Anyway, if you are deaf, it is a great place to stay. One plus, the breakfast buffet is pretty good.
