Rose Santamaria Residence
Ranked #2,975 of 3,779 Rome B&B and Inns
Reviewed 20 October 2012

We stayed at this B&B in May. Everything else in Rome was either not flexible with our arrival time or too expensive, so we picked this place even though it had no reviews. The B&B was a little hard to find but that may just be because or taxi driver ripped us off. The room itself was clean, but small. The staff was friendly when we arrived. They gave us a map and instructions on how to get places. Good English. The breakfast was standard. Packaged croissants and slightly stale cereal, but they also had fresh fruit, so that's a plus. The only real complaint I have about this place was that on the date of our departure, we had left some bus tickets in our room and so we went back to our room after vacating it not even 10 minutes earlier and the staff was not very friendly or accomodating about letting us search for our lost tickets. They kept rushing us out since another guest was due to arrive. I understand that our room had to be cleaned, but we should have been shown a little more leniency as we did just stay at this place for three nights.

The rooms are extremely clean so are the bathrooms. Also, in the kitchen there are facilities to cook, which can be very convenient in a city where prices can be high.

Staff will make you feel at home. You can definitely notice that Maria, the owner, runs the B&B with her heart...

I stayed at the B&B with a friend and neither of us will ever forget the sympathy.

Great rooms at budget costs. We went to the hotel at 10 in the morning just to leave our bags. But they allowed us to check-in right away as the room was ready. The staff were really helpful in giving us great tips to find our way around Rome. A great experience altogether!!

This hostel provided amazing service & made our trip in Rome so pleasant! The staff only speak a bit of English but still provided some of the best service I experienced in Italy. On one occassion after a night out we lost out friend and got mugged and the staff stayed up with us until 5am in the morning trying the resolve all the issues.. Then they allowed us to leave our bags there free of charge the next day until late afternoon. The bedrooms are big and the kitchen is very handy! I have recommended this hostel to all my friends mostly because of the beautiful people who run it. It's not a large party hostel but it is great!

We stayed here in June 2012, and it was an awesome location and a nice, friendly, quiet place with a great breakfast (surprisingly fantastic coffee!!!). We stayed on the first floor (some other rooms are 4th floor) and it was great for us. It's very difficult to see the place from the street as there's no sign, just a little sticker on the keypad for the door. Look for Hotel Verona, then next to that is a pizza place, then next to that is a big black door - that's where the b&b is.

If you're particularly sensitive to warm temperatures you might find that a fan isn't enough, but the building is well-shaded and I didn't have any problems in the middle of summer (and I'm a pasty Brit).

The Rose Santamaria is in a great location. One of the only things to warn is that they do not have a sign outfront so pay attention to the street numbers. Our room was on the fourth floor but hey that is what legs are for right? The staff were friendly and they let us keep our bags there the last day while we explored Rome a bit more. The room was big and had two great windows. They had a laptop that they let us use which was nice. We had to share the bathroom but that was not a big deal. The price we had to pay for this great place in a great location was superb. I definitely recommend this place especially since it comes with breakfast. Another plus is that we had a table and chairs in our room as well.

Really good location near Termini, free wifi and breakfast, nice staff and clean rooms. Beware of the stairs because some of the rooms are on a 4th floor!

Room Tip: ask for a room on the 1st floor
