“Dolce vita?”
Reviewed 22 March 2012

Dolce vita? no more. All gone. Everything is expensive and lots of tourist places, without any Roman in sight. Too bad.

“Good walking area between Piazza Barberini to Villa Borghese”
Reviewed 21 March 2012

We recently spent a few days in Rome and found ourselves walking up Via Veneto, walking the entire length of this street from Piazza Barberini to the entrance to Villa Borghese. This is a lovely street and nice place to take as stroll, have a meal and even visit a spooky crypt while in Rome.

We found numerous glass-ceiling, alfresco dining options along Via Veneto as well as a Hard Rock Café for those seeking some familiar food, not a bad plan after countless pasta and pizza meals.

Via Veneto may have had better days (decades past) but we still found it enjoyable for a stroll while in Rome. While not a priority visit, you might find this area worth your time if you are in city for a few days.

“Marcello left”
Reviewed 26 December 2011

But his glamor remains. This is still a graceful, elegant main street that is fun to walk down. At one end is one of the principle gates of ancient Rome, which provides a beautiful backdrop for this modern (by Roman standards) avenue. We don't recommend eating at any restaurants on the Via Veneto, as they are overpriced and the quality leaves something to be desired. Explore the side streets one or two blocks away, and there are some wonderful, authentic restaurants. A lot of the best hotels are located on the Via Veneto and the Spanish steps the main shopping area are only about 3 blocks away.
