When Ilived in Rome, this was the park my Roman friends went to, and not the better known Villa Borghese which is packed with tourists. This is a great place to go for a walk or just sit and relax on the grass.

It's pretty far from any subway station, but there are several buses going here (like line 14 from Termini) or you can take the tram (lines 3 and 19).

I decided to walk through Villa Ada to get to the Catacombes di Priscilla. Took about 20-25 minutes and on a lovely sunny day, it was a little oasis away from Rome. The park is walled, so you can only enter at certain spots. I entered at Via Panama and walked clockwise to then exit about halfway along Via Salaria. The lake and grassed areas at the north of the park are lovely and full of locals playing football and jogging. The actual Villa Ada seemed to have been converted into an equestrian country club, so it wasn't really work walking into the middle to see it.
