Great atmosphere just being there. Even walking out there is enough to feel the city. I mean this Rome anyway, each corner there is something to see. Like my other reviews you must see, don't miss it.

Loved the feel of cultures clashing and mixing. Great Indian food in the area. The only disappointment is the carbon copy Chinese shop that sell garbage and have only white walls. Other than that it is a great place to take a walk and pick up some great groceries from the market. Best market in Rome for sure. Another big minus is the Casa Pound down the street. It is the local Fascist headquarters and totally incongruous with the vibrant neighborhood.

We went here because we read reviews about really cheap shopping. It was all immigants selling really poor quality trash, at least as far as mens apparel go. The park was also run down amd not much to see.

Its a large Piazza with atmosphere and good people watching opportunities. Lighting in the evening enances the ruin and fountain.

Some of the reviews here mistake this place for Piazza Venezia (next to the Vittorio Emanuele II monument), but this is an entirely different place - in Esquiline.
The piazza is basically a run-down garden with some very unattended old remains (Nymphaeum Alexandri), which are not worth the hassle.
This area is dominated by poor immigrants, thus it does not look as good as other parts of Rome.
There were a lot of questionable characters in the garden, which actually made it uncomfortable to stroll there even in daytime.
The arch of Gallienus is nearby and worths a look as is the tiny church of Santa Maria Maggiore in San Vito (not to be confused with the huge basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, further down the road).
