“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

Michelangelo designed this church on the remains of the Baths of Diocletian at the request of Pope Pius IV in 1561. You will be amazed at the size of the interior when you enter. Take time to study the meridian line and roam into the back rooms to view the history of the baths and building of the church. There is so much to see here and it's such a calm respite from the crowds at many of the other basilicas in Rome.

“Worth visiting if you're in the vicinity”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

We were lost trying to find the National Roman museum in the vicinity of the Termini and happened upon it. Problem with seeing so many beautiful churches in such a short span of travel time is that one's senses became desensitized to the beauty and individuality of each. No fancy approach or entrance but the interior is quite beautiful. Of interest is that it used to be part of a roman bath, hence the very rustic exterior wall and approach.

“You might walk past without noticing...”

Near the Termini, and across from the Piazza Della Republica is on of Rome' s most beautiful basilicatas. Worth the visit while stopping by the Museum of Rome and Baths of Diocletian.

“From the outside you might not realise that it is the oldest church in Rome.”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

We were amazed at the sheer beauty in this low lighted Cathedral. Part of the floor has been used for astronomical observations. The lady at the souvenir desk had a wealth of information on this aspect and there was a beautifully descriptive pictured brochure on this. The hand and brilliance of Michelangelo are throughout the building.
We spent over an hour admiring the sculptures. This is definitely a must see.
The doors at the entrance are not new, but very interesting all the same.

“Amazing!!”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

From the outside it looks like an older church ruins that was sitting behind a fence. Once you enter you will be amazed at the beauty, architectural detail, and the size. We went in while waiting for our bus. A must see if you have time.
