“Loved this Church”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We were staying near Santa Maria di Maggiore and 'discovered' this most intriguing little Church on a quiet side street off of the Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore. We were thunderstruck by the beauty inside this small church and agree with the comments here...go inside even though it looks like nothing from the outside at all. Again, do some reading beforehand ( http://www.arte.it/guida-arte/roma/da-vedere/chiesa/basilica-di-santa-prassede-57 ) to really appreciate the mosaics inside the Church. Lovely, just lovely.

“Intricate artwork....”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

This little church is hidden behind the Basilica Di Santa Maria Maggiore. but is far more beautiful. The outside doesn't look like anything at all but inside the church are the most amazing mosaics which are spaced throughout the church. Take a couple of loose euros to turn on the lighting in some sections as camera flashes are not allowed and you need the extra lighting to see the mosaics full beauty. Well worth the little walk from Termini.

“MOSAIC MASTERPIECE”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Nothing of note to see from the outside, but inside a Byzantine masterpiece;with some of romes most radient mosaics depicting saints, lambs, palm trees and poppies decorating the apse.In the central nave,a stone slab covers the well where St Prassede is said to have buried 2,000 martyrs.A wonderful 9th century church, well worth visiting.

“Best mosaics in Rome”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Not on the usual tourist treadmill, but it should be. The church's main feature is the collection of unbelievably good Byzantine style mosaics -- probably the best in Italy outside of Ravenna. There's also a piece of the pillar where Christ was flogged on his way to the crucifixion. Definitely worth a visit
