“Capo di Roma!”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

I don't understand what people want, after reading some of the reviews; it is by far the best hotel I've stayed in. The staff couldn't do enough to help and were happy to do so. Breakfast was excellent, cereal, fresh fruit, cakes, bread, cooked scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, so much in fact.
Despite going to Rome at the hottest time for 40 years,(temperature reached 42C) the room remained cool, without having to use the air conditioning; sleeping was good, as the hotel is located in a very quiet road, although only minutes walk from Colleseum.
On downside, there was air conditioning unit in hall outside room which was on 24 hours, just wore earplugs at night to sleep!
Ate once in roof top terrace restaurant, service very slow despite there only being about 6 tables
Overall, we had a great experience, and I would definitely stay at Hotel Capo D'Africa again.

We recently visited Rome for vacation and stayed at the Hotel Capo D'Africa for four nights. We were continuously wowed by their customer service:

*When we arrived early, they found a room for us even though it was well-before check-in time.

*Our luggage was lost during our flight, and the staff at the front desk went out of their way to help us. Not only did they call the airline for us many, many times, but they also let us use their phone at the front desk so we did not have to pay for our calls.

*They offered some amazing restaurant recommendations that were a five minute walk from our hotel.

*They took great care of us at breakfast each morning and remembered our preferences.

In addition to great customer service, we were also extremely happy with the cleanliness and size of the room and bathroom, as well as the location of the hotel. It was only an eight minute walk to the Colosseum, yet our hotel was on a quiet street and not part of the hustle and bustle. (Hint: go see the Colosseum at night--it's amazing!).

Overall, we had a great experience, and I would definitely stay at Hotel Capo D'Africa again. Special thanks to all of the staff for going above and beyond to help us with our luggage; we really appreciated it!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor by the elevator...a little noisy if you are a light sleeper.

We just returned from this great city yesterday. I stayed in this hotel with my husband and 6 year old daughter for 4 nights and would def recommend it. Such a great hotel, friendly, helpful staff, lovely clean rooms, great breakfast buffet on the rooftop (one of my 6 year olds highlights of the trip) with very friendly breakfast staff. Location is ideal, tucked away from the busy lively streets, but still a 2 minute walk from the magnificent Collaseuam. Would def recommend the hop on/hop off buses for any future tourists, cheap and a great way to see Rome and rest your feet. Would love to return to this hotel again one day, thank you

I stayed here for 4 nights with my husband and 9 year old son. Very friendly staff, beautiful reception, very modern and clean. Great location, 5 mins from the Colosseum. Excellent breakfast, very quiet ( we all slept exceptionally well). The terrace on the roof is was a great place to relax at the end of a busy day. There isn't a restaurant but a good mix of places to eat nearby, although 3 out of 4 nights we ate the pizzeria around the corner which we all thought was fantastic.

This hotel is right behind the Colosseum. It is just out of the way of all the crowds of tourists and close enough for you to walk to all the attractions. We viewed all the attractions by foot. The Hotel was grand. Room lovely and clean. Healthy breakfast available. Staff very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that because it is a city break you dont have a pool to go back to to chill out and relax. We didnt feel that the roof terrace was inviting enough. Even the bar in the entrance never had any staff at it and therefore we felt we couldnt sit and have a drink at the end of the night. So really we only used it to sleep in. Check out time is 12. Our flight wasent until later that night so we spent the day sightseeing and then came back tochange. Downside - no showering facilities. Just toilets with a sink in it for us to wash and change before going to airport. We would recommend the hotel though. Ideal spot and great hotel.

Room Tip: dont forget you will have check out tax to pay when leaving - keep money aside for this

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for sharing your experience on this website.
We are very happy to learn that we met your expectations in all ways during your last stay with us
also if you did not find our terrace inviting enough what a pity considering that our Roof bar is open every day from early afternoon till late at night.
We very much look forward to welcoming you again at Hotel Capo d'Africa,
With my best Regards,

The building is beautiful. The hotel lobby is pretty. The rooftop bar really doesn't have much of a view but the skyline is nice. The room was just average with some rust on the bath fixtures. It was clean except for that. We tried out the restaurant on the roof. The spaghetti was really just ok and was expensive. The waiters acted like our presence was a bother so we were happy to finish our meal and leave. Breakfast was great. The staff in the morning was much different and it was a nice change. The location overall is good for the Forum and the Colosseum. The surrounding neighborhood is not very clean and we didn't feel safe out walking at night. Taxis ran about $25, the metro is about a15 minute walk from the hotel, and the hop on hop off tours can be found about 20 minutes away near the Forum.
