Capo d'Africa Hotel is just a couple of blocks away from the Colosseum; is located on a quiet, residential area. The dining room is light and airy, and the breakfast menu offers a good range of choices. From the dining room terrace, one can see the top of the Colosseum. Our room (Room 201) has large windows overlooking the street; with windows opened, I can literally touched the palm leaves; has very comfortable bed too. Everything we needed is where it is supposed to be. Made us feel at home. Lastly, its staff, from the front desk to the breakfast room, are friendly and very helpful. We stayed at the Capo d'Africa Hotel for 3 nights but wish it had been more!

Superb hotel, really well located by the colosseum. On arrival we were provided with a map showing all the main locations that we wanted to visit and advised when to visit the Vatican, I.e not on a Sunday....it's closed ! Our room was modern, clean, had a safe, en suite, flat screen tv etc etc. Breakfasts are excellent, we ate outside on the roof terrace every day with great views across the rooftops. In summary we couldn't fault the hotel at all and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We went for a superior double which was perfect....no view as such, but very quiet.

The hotel is beautiful and modern looking. Short taxi ride from the train station. 5mins from the Coloseum! Front desk was also helpful and made great recommendations for restaurants or lesser known sites/churches. Breakfast was great and staff at the restaurant was also warm and friendly. Room we had was on the smaller side, and bathroom was small, but that is just nit picking. They even provide slippers an bath robes for you to use! The only other downfall was that there wasn't a box of Kleenex, it was weird..they had about 3 wrapped up in the bathroom. We were on the first floor so not a great view out of our window, but we weren't in there long enough to notice. And there was a normal hairdryer! It was in the desk drawer , which was fine, because it was in front of a mirror. :)
Front desk recommended Trattoria Luzzi..a couple blocks away...we ate there 3 out of the 4 nights we were in Rome! Cheap but delicious!!! The wait staff I found a bit crass..and found it a bit intimidating the first night...but food is delish!! Owner looks like a riot!
Would definitely stay here again!

We recently stayed at this hotel in great walking distance to everything! Many good restaurants close by and good recommendations from hotel staff. In particular, we loved the bartender who works at the hotel, Fabrizio Catenacci, he was an amazing host and big help to us. Very friendly and lovely. Would love to go back and have more time in this great area of Rome.

Traveling all of Italy recently, our best hotel experience was capo d'africa! The staff, mainly Katia, were superb and rate five stars, not four. Katia acted as our own personal concierge and assisted in dining, touring and readily accommodated us with some special requests, all with her delightful demeanor! If wishing a modern, exquisitely managed hotel set in the midst of antiquity, this should be your number one choice. Rooftop lounging and dining an awesome complement to this gorgeous hotel. Bravo, capo's excellent staff!

Room Tip: All excellent!

As previous TA posters have advised the hotel is so close to the Colusseum - if you are arriving with backpacks it is easy walking distance but if you arrive at Termini with a couple of large suitcases it is worth the short taxi drive.

Our room was available on arrival and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly - our bedroom was perfect on arrival with exceptional quality linens, the bathroom was well equipped with in house toiletries, small individual touches in red on facecloths and robes. In a standard room we were provided with a kettle. coffee and tea - perfectly adequate.

I would like to say thank you to Katya on the front desk as she was so helpful - she gave us more than one recommendation for a meal and ice cream which was very much appreciated. I do not normally take hotel/concierge recommendations for somewhere to eat bur Katya provided a exception as she listens to what you want and what type of meal you want.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

Myself and my friend stayed at this hotel for 3 nights May 2014. On first floor overlooking street. Room really spacious, clean, large TV, good size fridge. Gowns and slippers provided, decent toiletries. Breakfast is served on the 4th floor which has an outside terrace area which was pleasant, I suppose if being fussy this area not quite as nice as expected but when weather little warmer probably better laid out and possibly able to use in evenings. Breakfast lovely plenty on offer including cooked eggs and bacon which us Brits love! Also could get cappucino for breakfast which we thought was a nice treat. Staff on reception really helpful - we were given great map and lots of help. This hotel really is only minutes walk to the Colloseum, but situated in a quiet residential area. The hotel uses the breakfast room as a restaurant in the evening, but we did not use menu limited and quite pricey. We used local restaurant around the corner which had been recommended to us - Naumachia - really lovely pizza/pasta and not over priced - always busy but after few minutes wait always got a table. Hotel organised taxi to airport for us for 50 euros which we thought was going rate, which came on time and got us to the airport promptly. Don't be afraid to get the train from the airport - you can walk to hotel 10-15 mins and was really easy and safe to do. 14 euros non-stops train ticket. Would definately use this hotel again and would recommend. Can,t wait to go back - fab city.

Room Tip: Air con working when we went but if needed to open window at night would have been noisy - but road...
