The location is terrific for exploring Ancient Rome. Our room was very nice and quite spacious for a city hotel. The Desk Clerk was particularly helpful with pointing out interesting local resturants and with travel arrangements. Having a glass of wine on the terrice with the sun setting over the Colosseum was enchanting.

This hotel is spacious for Rome, modern and sits in a location which feels quite central but off the beaten track. It is a couple of minute's walk from the Colisseum. There are plenty of nice neighbourhood restaurants and bars to enjoy nearby. Each evening began and ended for us with a drink on the large, well furnished roof terrace.

The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. The hotel was spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was fine, though the staff struggled to keep things topped up in the buffet. We had lunch here one day, and it was simple but very tasty.

The rooms feel spacious and nicely decorated, if a little bland. Bathrooms are small. Our only complaint is that the shower fluctuated between icy cold and burning hot, regardless of the temperature gauge.

Overall, an excellent hotel.

This hotel is blocks from the Colosseum, but still relatively quiet. It was a great location to take breaks and then go back and sight see some more. Rome has a lot of traffic during the day, and cars did cut through, but the hotel is soundproofed quite well. It has a nice upstairs terrace where breakfast is served and from which you can see the Colosseum clearly. The rooms each had a separate bath. One had a shower and the other a tub shower. The rooms are adequate size. We were able to shut off a hallway door to create a suite of sorts for our 2 rooms, which was nice. We spent 3 nights there and found the staff to be accomodating. We do not recommend the Crab restaurant down the street, however. It was recommended to us by the hotel, but we found it to be overpriced for adequate food. There is a restaurant several blocks away near the sign for "Tratoria" which was excellent. It is on the corner, same side of the street before the Tratoria. The biggest disappointment we had was the Spanish Steps -- just a bunch of steps. Unless you are planning on shopping there, skip it.

We loved this hotel. It is very boutique like, modern with great amenities. It has a pretty roof garden for evening drinks or just to sit out at one end, and has the breakfast area at the other end. Staff was welcoming and very helpful. Fabricio the bartender is most gracious. The neighborhood is residential and quiet with a bunch of eating places both expensive and reasonable. Many people on this site recommended Le Neumachie restaurant nearby. It was okay and not too expensive. Our best find was a little wine bar on Via Ostilla nearby called Divan. The place is tiny but they have an amazing wine list and great food too. Very accomodating and attentive owner.
One important tip: If you are not a walker, this hotel is not in the center of the city. It is walking distance to the Colliseum and Palantine Hill. We walked all over Rome from there and would stay at that hotel again.

I loved this hotel. Exceptionally pleasant front of house staff, all of whom are happy to mark places of interest on the map of Rome (also provided by the hotel). Though the hotel has been there for a long time, the hotel bedrooms are comfortable and welcoming and the location of Capo d'Africa (in a side street) means that there is very little street noise.

This hotel also has the little added touches of sophistication, such as dressing gowns, a room service menu, a generously stocked and competitively priced mini-bar, and a neat selection of high end toiletries which distinguish it from some of its more mundane counterparts in Rome. In the evenings, you can sit up on the rooftop and sip a cooling drink in the shadow of ancient Rome.

The Capo d'Africa was also good value, working out at circa Euro 220 a night for a double room (including taxes and buffet breakfast in the mornings). Good selection of fresh juices, fruits, breads, cheeses and meats for breakfast. Also excellent Italian coffee which really re-vivifies you in the morning.

Also, if you have an interest in either archaeology or religion (or both) the hotel Capo d'Africa is literally three minutes walk away from the Church of San Clement. An amazing church which features three levels of artistic and architectural endeavour, the second level dating back a millenium to the earlier Christians, the third level comprising a perfectly preserved set of catacombs and altar (a Mithrium) dating back to pagan times. It was a truly mesmerising experience to be able to visit the third level and walk in the footsteps of those who had frequented it before Christ even walked the planet.

Gorgeous hotel.
Housekeeping kept the rooms and baths very clean. Came in at night for turn down service.
A/C worked well. Rooms were very quiet. Stayed on top floor across from convent. The few cars that did go by we never heard; only know that they went by because we were looking out our window.
Beds very comfortable.
Breakfast was very nice. Assortment of pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruits and coffees. Has outdoor dining overlooking the Colosseo.
Easy walking distance to Colosseo and Forum and Palatine hill. Also easy walking distance to red and blue lines of Metro. Colosseo stop and Manzoni stop. Not too far from Trevi fountain either.
On September 11th the management hired a jazz band to play music on the roof terrace in rememberance. Thought that was a very nice touch and very thoughtful.
Front desk helpful. They offered to make reservations for us to Borghese Gallery. Went to get tickets at Borghese Gallery and they told us that we were never booked but were able to find tickets for us anyway. I don't believe it was the hotel's fault I believe it was the Gallery's.
I believe Rome is very affordable compared to cities in Northern Italy. Local trattorias around hotel were very affordable and much more enjoyable to eat in than expensive restaurants on the Piazzas.
Would most definately stay here again. By far the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 and a half week trip through Italy.
