“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

Lovely Hotel as previous reviews near metro and walking distance of Piazza del Popolo. Lots of bars cafés and restaurants nearby. Staff friendly and so so pleasant!
Bedrooms are not very big also bathrooms too. What you lose on size you gain with quality of towels and bed linen. Adequate toiletries in the bathroom. Large screen TV with Sky if you really require it.
Only one complaint the worst breakfast coffee ever! But you can order cappuccino. Breakfast is a good choice but the usual wait for your turn for toast
Bar has fifty per cent off most of the evening with excellent prices. 3euro good brandy! Also nice touch of help yourself bar snacks. Very pleasant barman too!
Would definitely stay here again in we revisit Rome.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for larger room it is worth it.

If you want convenient location to all major attractions, this is not your hotel. it is more than a 40 minute walk to the vatican. Located next to the Piazza Del Popolo. There are alot of nicer hotels near the spanish steps, which would put you more central to shopping and the attractions. If don’t get a room on the 1st floor you will have to change to a second tiny elevator to get to the higher floors. Room was clean but so very small. The staff was excellent and I wish I could give this hotel a higher rating, but i can’t. I cannot recommend this hotel and would not stay there again.

Dear Madam,

thank you for sharing your experience about the River Palace Hotel. I'm a little surprised about the review. Sometimes the hotel might not exceed guest expectations. Size of the room, tiny elevators or other reasons. Those suggestions are much appreciated because they help us to improve the service we want to deliver to our guests. Unfortunately I do not agreee with your point of view about the hotel location. It is a matter of fact that the hotel is located 40 minutes walking distance from St. Peter basilica (but only 3 metro stations away). It is also a matter of fact that St. Peter Basilica and Vatican City are located in an area of Rome called Vatican Area which is not downtown and not close to Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, Coliseum or Galleria Borghese, as the River Palace is. It is like choosing to stay in an hotel in Times Square and than complain because it is far from Brooklyn Bridge.

Kind Regards

Michele Scandellari

There are no complaints per se about this hotel but few outstanding benefits. The location is fine - easy to get to tourist attractions. It is located approximately 2 blocks north of the Piazza del Popolo. However, it is hard to find "genuine" food anywhere near the hotel. The staff's first recommendation for a good meal seemed to us an overpriced tourist trap after spending $100 there.

The rooms were small but clean and nice, with nice bathrooms and showers. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful when possible. The breakfast was sufficient but not amazing- there was a wide variety of small pastries, deli meats, and cheeses available. Sometimes we had scrambled eggs available but others we did not. The last day we had a very early flight and were leaving before breakfast. The staff made us "to go" bags of breakfast foods when we checked out at no additional charge - very thoughtful. The "happy hour" at the hotel bar was very nice (the bartender was great!) and reasonably priced for good sized drinks.

The wifi availability was horrible - unaccessible in the rooms and spotty/slow in the lobby.

We returned yesterday after four nights at River Palace Hotel, and have no adverse criticisms of any aspect of our stay. It was certainly worthwhile upgrading our room to De Luxe as the standard rooms are rather cramped. Breakfasts were excellent, location was perfect and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a larger room!

Perfectly located within 30 minutes walk of all the main tourist attractions, this was the perfect hotel for our stay. Clean, quiet and beautifully furnished we loved our stay. Breakfast was included and exceeded expectations. Would definitely stay here again.

Staff, Service, Location...everything was wonderful. If you are in Rome, this is the place to stay. Just walking distance to train stop and Piazza del Popolo, but it was quiet at night. We arrived in the early morning to Rome. As soon as we arrived at Hotel, attentitive stuff helped carried our bags and escorted to comfortable seating area. Check-in is at 2pm, but they took our bags, checked us in (room was not ready but...it was 5 hours before checked in time) and gave us a map of Rome and explained how to get to everywhere without having us asking. We tried walking around the city but got tired really quickly after long flight and went back to hotel. They didn't ask anything. They just speed up the room cleaning and acomodated us. Wow. Really really nice. Thank you very much.
House keeping stuff came in twice a day to 1. Clean the room and 2. To gave us the weather card for next day with chocolates. Nice touch of service. How nice to know the weather of next day! We received personal, hand writing letter and wine from the manager..I mean hand-writing! because it was our honeymoon. When we express our gratitude about the wine at front desk, manager himself came out and talked to us and thanked us for staying.
Breakfast was good. Great variety and selection to accomodate everybody. If you decide to get any kind of drink at bar, they always give you complimentaly snacks to go with your drink. Bathroom was easy to use and clean. Room is comfortable and nice. They have good selection of satelite TV channels. We couldn't be any happier to stay at this hotel. It is highly recommended!

Room Tip: Any room has the view of their yard

Just returned from a 4 night stay in this hotel. We arrived just after lunch and were quickly booked in by a very helpful young man on reception, he explained everything easily for us tired oaps to take in and how to get to the main sights, all of which are in easy walking distance of the hotel. So much so within the hour we were unpacked and hitting the streets. We arrived back a good few hours later to the curtains drawn, the covers turned down and two treats waiting for us- a very nice chocolate apiece. The rooms although not large(we did upgrade to superior rooms,)are clean, comfortable and have alsorts of little luxuries that make you feel special, The beds are comfortable and the rooms quiet. Breakfast is good, with something for everyone .The staff , every single one of them are brilliant, helpful, cheerful and informative. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and if we make it back to Rome I will definateley stay here again.
