Where can i start we found this hotel via Trivago then after selecting it we read all the reviews especially as most of them seem to mention that the rooms are small ( which i will come to later on)
The hotel is practically very central for Rome only about 15 mins walk to the Spanish Steps. It is only two mins away from a lovely ornate square called Piatzza del Popolo. In the evening you might get street entertainers here we had a Michael Jackson lookalike every night at about eight o clock. He was very good.also straight ahead off the square are three streets where there are an abundance of shops & restraunts.there is a lovely church in the square called Santa Maria del Popolo.
Back to the hotel the staff can not do enough for you,.when we booked in we were offered an upgrade but after the concierge showed us both rooms we stuck with our original classic room.DO NOT BE PUT OFF WITH ROOM SIZE.We were there for 5 nights in room 506 it had a wardrobe with draws where we could put our 2 cases also a safe there was a desk & chair & you could still walk round the room comfortably, also a mini bar with reasonably priced drinks for a change a tv with English news channels & also sky news & sports ,there was no problems with the pillows or mattress.
The bathroom was very ornate with marble sinks & lovely tiles a nice shower & plenty of toileteries, free wifi in the room,a silent air con & our room overlooked a pleasent courtyard. one nice touch is that the maid comes in the evening to leave the next days weather forecast on a card with a couple of chocolates.
Breakfast was to die for,it had everything, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cheeses, hams, breads,& pastries, coffee as well if you want ed a cappuchino or hot chocholate they would make you one. There was also a point where you could get ice cold still or fizzy water.
The hotel has a happy hour which lasts 4 hours ( 6-10 pm) this is half price drinks where you can get a cocktail for 6 euros.,also a steady supply of nuts crisps, sandwiches. One restraunt to try is Santa Anna the hotel will give you directions ,very nice seafood pasta. All in all would i stay here again you bet i would.

Just got back from Rome stayed in River Palace Hotel it’s was lovely. As everyone kept saying Happy is great Peach Bellini would reccommend.Breakfast very good basic but good.
Just one complaint - we booked the taxi transfer with the hotel 55 Euros but it was half hour late we had to ring the hotel to see where it was.
Everybody said go see the Trevi Fountains so we did it was all closed off and couldn't see anything (don't bother going)
When leaving go onto Piazzo and get a taxi to airport only 48 Euros

Just got back from a weekend in Rome. This hotel and its staff made our weekend unforgettable, service and quality were very high.
Also found it surprising that everything written here in reviews about the hotel turned out to be true, however whether you like it depends on your point of view and how grumpy you are! We were offered to see 2 rooms on arrival and at only €15 Euro a night we of course upgraded. Yes the rooms are a bit small but have you ever stayed in London? Also true about the mattresses and thin pillows, but we got used to them very quickly and staff go out of their way to make you more comfortable if they can. Very nice and well stocked bathroom, mini bar in the room, sky in English, free wifi and very cheap drinks and free snacks during happy hour. Our room was on the 5th floor facing the street and there was no street noise at all. Air conditioning worked very well. Breakfast is very good - staff will make you any type of coffee you like. 2 lifts is a bit awkward, but there are always stairs. Great location for exploring Rome. Loved the happy hour (try Mojito)!
Will stay again and recommend to all friends.

We stayed for 5 nights in July 2014, and were very happy with our experience with River Palace. Through the hotel we were able to book a taxi which picked us up from the airport and drove us back at the end of our stay. Once we arrived we were soon upgraded to a deluxe room after trying to discuss an issue with the city tax with the concierge - apparently the website we booked through charged us city tax but the hotel said this was impossible. Only a small issue but they happily upgraded us anyway. We stayed in room 405, and the room itself was very comfortable and peaceful. The air-con was silent and made for a lovely cool shelter after walking in the heat of Rome. The bed was large and comfortable and there was a decent amount of space in the wardrobe for our clothes. The bathroom was quite fancy, but we had a problem with the shower head which had sprung a leak as well as the plumbing making loud noises and shaking from some pressure issue with the hot water, although this wasn't something we were too bothered about. The view from our room was over a small courtyard facing other rooms and balconies. We couldn't hear any noise from the street and slept very peacefully. The hotel is also situated very close to a metro station - great for getting to the Colosseum and to Termini. The hotel staff were helpful in recommending restaurants and providing directions. Overall, we had very pleasant experience here!

We had the deluxe suite for one night, and it was absolutely perfect! Huge room with roof terrace and jacuzzi. We even got a complimentary wine upon arrival! The breakfast was to die for, they even served Prosecco for breakfast for those who care for that :P

Great hotel literally 2 minutes walk away from piazza de poppolo and the burghese park. The piazza is lovely but be wary of rose sellers they'll ambush you then ask for money. But the hotel is great for telling you about the local area and how far certain attractions are. Including offering us a map and highlighting all local features, you can also get a transfer back to the airport (either one) for up to three people for 55 euros.
The hotel also offers a 50% off happy hour from 6 til 10 which is great if you want a quick drink before you head out for dinner. The room also includes a mini bar with fizzy drinks and prosecco and peroni (nastro azzuro) for about 5 euros. Breakfast is also great, plenty of options to fill you up to start the day including cold pastries and hot options too, as well as prosecco if it takes your fancy.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, particularly the evening weather forecast for the next day delivered with chocolates around 6pm which is very helpful

The service at the hotel is outstanding. Staff at front desk, porter and breakfast staff were very hepful and all spoke english. The beds are very very hard!! We had to ask HK to put extra quilt on bed just to make it possible to sleep. Still hard even after that. Close to metro so very convenient.

Room Tip: ask for room not on street
