“Wonderful!”

This is our second stay at Casa di Santa Brigida. The Sisters could not have been more pleasant. The convent is CLEAN, comfortable, quiet, and conveniently located. It is an oasis for travelers. The rooms are beautifully furnished, and the beds are perfect. The air-conditioning worked well in our rooms. We have stayed at four other convents and monasteries in Italy, and Casa di Santa Brigida is our absolute favorite.

Great location on a beautiful square, but there were too many negatives here. We were not welcomed after a long trip, but were treated as though they had not expected us although they had our deposit and a recent confirmation. Registration and settling the bill was difficult because their record-keeping system is poor. The temperature control in the room was not working, so we had to open the window and then it was too noisy to sleep. The bathroom is impossibly small, so if you drop something in the shower you almost can't pick it up. The nuns try, but this is obviously not their primary concern.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with working A/C.

Centrally located within walking distance to most tourist attractions and on one of the loveliest piazzas in Rome, Casa di Santa Brigida is charming. Though the address is officially on the Piazza, enter around the corner at Via Monserato 54. While the rooms are basic, everything is spotless and comfortable. Common areas are elegant; breakfast delicious. Our room did not face any street so was very quiet.

Spent our final evening in Rome sipping wine on the rooftop terrace. Wish we could have heard the sisters singing vespers but apparently Friday at 4:30p is when trash is collected in the piazza.

Would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for fancy, glitzy then this is not for you. But if you want clean, welcoming, peaceful and attention to detail and convenience, then this is the only place to stay. Our 4 boys ages 28 to 14 loved this place. The sisters were amazing

Room Tip: ask for a corner room overlooking the piazza

Goethe said "Only in Rome is it possible to understand Rome." And at the Casa di Santa Brigida on the Piazza Farnese - you can stay in luxury accommodations from another age that will perhaps allow you to experience the classical Rome of another age. This wondrous place of rest and refreshment is run as a ministry by the Sisters of Santa Brigida - an order devoted to the care of travelers on pilgrimage. It is not a hotel - you take care of your own luggage. And when going out at night they will hand you a HUGE key to open the massive door to 55 Via di Monserato. And don't expect anyone to wait up for you when returning late, the sisters will have retired in order to be up early for prayer. In this way it is more like staying with friends, albeit friends living in a massive palace. Our rooms were beautiful, with an eclectic mixture of furniture from the late 19th and early 20th century. There is no television, only simple lighting fixtures, however there are well-appointed bath fixtures. The rooms were elegant, and comfortable. Mind you they are also quiet. This is a quiet, beautiful place. The dining room is busy, and that's because the food is EXCELLENT. In a city with the greatest dining on earth, we found food (and wine) that is wonderful and energy-giving for long days of walking through the Eternal City. Located on the Piaza Farnese (across from the French Embassy), you are one minute's walk from the Tiber River. Casa di Santa Brigida is located just about midpoint between St. Peter's and the Colosseum. One does not seek out the Casa di Santa Brigida looking for a luxury experience (in the 21st century meaning of the term), rather this is the place to stay in order to prepare one's self for experiencing the true meaning of what Rome offers.

This is definitely a five star place. No spa. No concierge. No bellhop.
But there is attention to detail. The sisters made us feel welcome. We were there for 7 nights and loved every minute of it. One sister chatted with us all evening until another sister called her for "quiet time". There is no curfew for the guests. We came and went as we pleased. It's the safest place in Rome! No room safe needed. The sisters took care of everything, including our taxi back to the airport with a quoted price lower than the usual taxi price.
Walking distance to ALL the tourist places. My 70 and 75 yo parents did not need to take a taxi at all.
Rooms are basic. But we were not in rome to hang out in our rooms. The bathroom was bigger than most European bathrooms. It's right smack in the lively piazza Farnese. But we slept with our windows open and soaked in the charm. One can only smile when one hears someone shouting "amore, amore" at 2 am.
The palazzo Farnese is gorgeous. There is a phenomenal painting that is visible from the outside. One can actually make reservations ahead of time to tour the place. It's the French embassy now.
Don't forget to take a look at the chapel even if you're not religious. It's beautiful. The sisters can be heard singing from there. It's quite an experience.

We stayed for three nights at the Casa during our honeymoon and were thrilled by the warm and extremely respectful treatment we were given by the sisters.
The location of the Casa is outstanding: you can see the Palazzo Farnesse frescoes right from your windows and it's a minute (literally) walk to Campo dei Fiori and five minutes to Piazza Navona. The convent itself is very well decorated and has a tremendous sense of peace around it.
True the Piazza Farnese can be loud at times during weekends, but we sorted the problem out by buying earplugs and had a wonderful sleep.
Off course, it's a convent so there are certain rules the visitors must abide by. But nothing that might make your visit unpleasant. The only thing we would have liked was a later brekfast since the dinning room closed at 9 am.
The room was immaculate, with elegant furniture and very well lit. The most basic feature was the bathroom which is clean and spacious but not "fashionable". Not that it matters or that you would expect anything different.
The sisters were amazing and gave us very good advise on places to see and certain Pope- related tips. If your visit to Rome has a religious side to it, the convent and the Sisters give it a little extra.
There is no curfew and you can come in and out as many times as you wish without anybody asking or interferring. Most of the loveliest places in Rome are within a short waliking distance. And Termini train station was only a short 12 euro taxi ride away.
And to top it all the building has a lovely terrace on top where you can pause and get a few minutes away from the chaos of Rome.
Would definitely return!
