Chose this place. You won't regret it. Not only is it in a great location that is in a reasonable walking distance from all of the places that you'll want to go in Rome, but the owner is also incredibly nice and helpful. While he is there to help, he doesn't hover, which is great if you like your privacy. It's also clean and affordable. And they have cute little Italian candy and free guides to Rome that you can borrow. Chose this place. Doooo it.

This was the best experience I have ever had. The B&B is perfectly located (close to the center, the Vatican and the south west area). Everything was walking distance! The B&B itself was amazing too. Super clean, spacious, nice looking, homey, comfortable. The breakfast was really good. And Valerio was very nice! He went out of his way to be helpful.

Wife and I stayed at Valerios B&B Calamatta and it was fantastic. So many things to complement the B&B on but here is a quick list.

1. Valerio lives on the property so at any time he is there for questions, guidance, suggestions, etc.
2. Very safe location being in the shadow of the Palace of Justice, and a police station around the corner. My wife and I stayed out till 2am every night and always felt safe and secure (We are in our late 40's)
3. Bring your smartphone, Valerio will make a custom map of places to see, shop and eat based on what your interest are. You can then follow this map to where he suggested for you to go. If you have a question or get lost just email him and you will get a reply almost immediately!
4. Other B&B's do have additional charges to the room stay but you don't find out about them till later. At Calamatta there was no additional charge for using the A/C at nighttime, absolutely no surprise charges to the stay.
5. Calamatta is located near numerous entertainment and tourist attractions but it is in a quiet area so sleeping in peace is possible. No traffic or noise from clubs nearby to keep you up at night.
6. We took the SIT bus from the Leonardo airport, there is a bus stop less than a mile from the Calamatta. Very economical and almost a direct ride to the B&B, highly recommend.

Our stay in Rome was perfect and making the Calamatta our home away from home was comforting and rewarding. We would without hesitation hope to stay as Valerios guest once again. I would not be surprised to see in the future that reservations will get more difficult to obtain as the word gets out about Valerio and the B&B Calamatta.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great.

Really enjoyed our stay!! B&B Calamatta is in a great position! Valerio was very welcoming and very helpful showing us the best ways to get to to the places we wanted to see and marking it out on a map for us! The room was great very clean, with a very comfy bed! There is a kitchen you can make coffees when ever you want, aswell as a kettle in your room! Breakfest was very nice and is brought to your room! We will definatly be staying here again!

I truly reccomend the BB Calamatta. It location is fantastic, the room was very good and the service great. The only reservation I had, was that the cleaning person re-arranged all our things every day! But I will stay there again for sure.

Valerio is the host of the B&B and does whatever it takes to provide a great experience. Just share or communicate with him what you want to do in Rome and he has plenty of suggestions that are spot on.

He suggested Brillo Parlante for pizza, which turns out to be one of the best Roman style pizza places that is on list with Pizzeria Da Baffeto. The place also had their house espresso called Brillo. Phenominal as it is made with tiramisu (real tiramisu includes marscapone) dont let another place fool you because cream should not be used as a substitute.

Dont miss Giolitti or Old Bridge for gelato either.

Rooms are very nice modern upgrades and bathroom larger than the standard european size.

Location in the middle so its perfect. Next to Piazza Cavour means many buses and metro. Also the airport shuttle drops and picks up near for 11 euro so no dealing with termini station.

My wife and I stayed here in August 2013 and absolutely loved it. I have just scanned some of the other reviews and am amazed at how much I agree with all of their very positive observations. Valerio is a great host and has done a great job with the place. We liked the fact our room was comfortable and quiet on a quiet side street in a very upscale neighborhood that we felt very safe in. It was very hot when we were there but the A/C was quiet and a relief after hot days around town. And the breakfast in our room was terrific feature. I do not know if anyone in Rome does a bad job with their cappuccino but Valerio does a wonderful job too. We loved the convenience of the location. We could walk to all kinds of sites including the Vatican, St Peters Basilica, Trevi Fountain or the Spanish steps. Lots of great shopping nearby too. Getting to the Colliseum was a short bus ride and the non-stop bus to the Airport was a block away. Hope to come back again to see more of Rome and enjoy more of Valerio's great hospitality. By the way Valerio speaks English fluently and is a wealth of excellent tourist tips.
