This hotel is located in the Leonina area of Rome and within walking distance of St. Peter's Basilica. It's situated on a passage way which is narrow and very quiet, so you do not hear street
noise at night. There is a restaurant just across the small street and many in the neighborhood that have good food for lower prices than near the Vatican. Many business men stay here and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of a small family-run hotel. It was originally built in 1873 and has always been run by the Mariani family. The rooms are comfortable, air-conditioned, have a small fridge, snacks and drinks to purchase, bath toiletries and all the comforts of a newly updated hotel which was done in 1999. It does not have an elevator for the three floors, so it would not be suitable for hand-capped. They provide a continental breakfast and there is a patio with umbrella tables on the second floor. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We were in room 10 on the second level. It was an end room next to the patio which made it convenie...

My wife and I stayed 5 days at the hotel to celebrate a graduation and anniversary. My aunt and cousin had referred this to us and we were not disappointed. We stayed in Room 10 (on the second floor) and just outside our door was a great little patio that was a great staging area for a glass of wine and cheese before we headed out to dinner. The breakfast in the morning was delicious in the delightful dining area that looked out to a nice stone walled patio. The tall heavy wood beamed ceilings in our rooms, added to the charm of this hotel, that was located on a small street just blocks from St. Peter's. Also close to great restaurant venues. The Owners were gracious and accomodating throughout our stay.

well located, and referred to us by a friend, this little hotel has all you need from a little 3* hotel. One thing we missed - the anti mosquito gizmo is in the bedside drawer! Rather stupidly I opened the window thinking it's too early for Mozzies in May. Was well bitten!
Liked - double bed is big & mattress hard, sheets are great, towels reasonable size (compared with some of those dishcloths you sometimes get in Italy). Room clean, and shower worked well. We were in room 21 at the top & back. Nice and quiet! (but no lift).
Paid €200 per night.
TIP: If going to Vatican Museum, just get there early and queue - queue disappears quickly when it opens, or go late - no queues at all.

My husband and I loved the Hotel Bramante in 1998 and marveled at the updates since that visit. Location for us is its outstanding asset; hospitality of the staff ( front desk and breakfast room) and amenities within are additional assets!. Being within very easy walking distance to a street with many choices for restaurants, 5 minutes to St. Peter's and Castel Saint Angelo; Piazza Navona might be 10 minutes.

Our stay at the Bramante was excellent. Although our room was on the third floor (with no elevator), they helped me get my bags up to the room. What do you expect when you stay just steps from St. Peter's square and adjacent to 'il passetto'. What an incredible street to stay on in Rome. Steps from the hotel you will find a fresh water fountain (there are many in Rome) that has cool clean potable water from the mountains of Umbria. I couldn't keep my son away from it, he drank liters of it!

Not only are you walking distance from the Vatican there are plenty of restaurants and gelateria's walking distance from the front door.

The service from the front staff was excellent, not to mention the breakfast. There were plenty of types of cheese, juice, nuts and cereal to choose from. Along with that there was a wonderful lady to make you a coffee or get you some fresh prosciutto as well.

I would highly recommend the Bramante as a place to stay in Rome!

I stayed in this hotel for an extended period. It is very handy for visits to the Vatican which is a short walk away. The main sites around the city centre are a bit further away but it depends how much you care to walk. The city centre is about half an hour or less away as are many of the big archeological sites like the Colloseum and the Forum etc. likewise, the Spanish Steps, the Piazza Navona and the Trevi fountain are an easy walk if you are used to wandering around capital cities. If you don't like to walk, taxis can be called and usually arrive within five minutes or there is a taxi rank a short distance away.
The hotel is family run and all of a good standard. Some of the rooms have been recently redecorated. I suspect that the hotel is only three star not four because there is no restaurant for evening meals. Despite comments about small rooms, this is not the case, it depends what room you have. I had a very big room with a lounge area outside.
Breakfast is continental style with a choice of cereals, fruits, yogurts etc. there are usually cakes and Cornetti (Italian version of croissant) available too. There is no hot food unless you ask for cooked eggs but the nice lady who seems to be serving the breakie everyday will make you a nice coffee as only the Italians can.
The only criticism is that a few of the rooms at the front can suffer a bit from traffic noise. The road is small and relatively quiet but is cobbled so you can get woken up by treat odd car at 6.30 in the morning if you're a light sleeper.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear if you cherish the quiet.

If you would like to stay close to the Vatican/St Peters Basilica - this is the perfect hotel.
The rooms are a little small (but then you don't spend time in your room) and the shower is very small (this could be made bigger).
The staff were friendly, breakfast had a good selection - cereals, fresh fruit, cheeses etc and good coffee.
A good base for exploring Rome.
