“Excellent location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2013

The location of this hotel could not be better for a general trip to Rome. It is 2 minutes walk to the Trajan's column, Forums, and Palazzo Valentini. It is 8 minutes to the Colosseum, 15 minutes walk to the Trevi Fountain.

The weekend day receptionist was a little surly but not rude and the others were really nice. One gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation for the Hostaria Romana.

Everything was clean and well maintained. Internet was free.

The only drawback was that eBookers claimed it had a "courtesy shuttle@ from the airport. When we rang the number on eBookers to confirm we ended up getting through to a sister hotel in Milan and then another at Rome airport. We found no bus despite searching thoroughly, which wasted a couple of hours on our first day.

There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and my girlfriend complained that they only provided one large towel per person so she had nothing to use for her hair.

The hotel was such a good spot, so central to everything. Easy to walk to colosseum and the forum. Close to main bus routes so easy to get everywhere. The room was a little small for a double room but worked well for solo visit. Breakfast was good and in a nice space overlooking the streets.

Stayed August 2013, travelled solo

Dear Daninorsk,
Thank you for visiting the Hotel Cosmopolita! Sharing your experience will definitely help other people plan a future stay that want to plan a trip to Rome and find a location close to the most important attractions in Rome.
We are glad you also enjoyed the breakfast in our The Glass Bar and Restaurant, and the accommodation provided, even if not all the rooms are so big, (please consider we are in a XVIII century building in the city centre), they are very comfortable and relaxing!
Thanks again for taking the time to post. We hope to welcome you again soon!
Kind regards and season’s greetings!

A group of 5 stayed here for 2 nights and we were very pleased with both the location and service of this hotel. The triple room (430) was a good size, but the bathroom was very small, and the double room (120) was quite small but had a huge bathroom. The desk staff were very helpful, and the buffet breakfast was very good for the cost. (on offer - buy one get one half price). Like other reports we were situated at the front overlooking a busy street but had no noise problems as the windows were sound proofed. Only down side is I would have liked to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. I Would definately stay here again

Dear Debbie73,

thank you for visiting the hotel Cosmopolita and for sharing your opinion with us!
We are so glad to know that you and your friends enjoyed your stay in hotel and appreciated the very central location of the hotel, so close to the most important streets in Rome but very quiet at the same time.
Concerning the size of the rooms and the bathrooms, please consider that the Hotel is an XVIII century building transformed in hotel only recently, we did our best to make the room the most comfortable and functional as possible in order to make guest’s stay enjoyable.
Moreover your comment about the kettle will be certainly taken in consideration for future improvements.
We hope to have the chance to welcoming you in the future, our staff hope to make your stay unforgettable!
Kind regards

We originally booked a condo in Rome during our 2 night stay, and on arrival things didn't work out, so we ended up taking a taxi over to the Cosmopolita Hotel Rome after checking other reviews and its excellent location. The staff were so extremely polite and welcoming me with my family of 5. As it can be quite difficult to find somewhere to sleep 5, they were very accommodating by putting a third bed in our second room so that everyone would be comfortable. Just a note though, as to be expected in any big city, don't expect HUGE rooms. Size is money in the middle of the city, so as to be expected, the rooms are not spacious, but very much adequate since you are visiting Rome for the city, not the room.
One thing I especially liked was how secure the hotel was. I felt safe with my kids in a separate room because in order to access any of the rooms, there was a sliding door that requires a key to open before even getting to the elevator.
The rooms were nice and well equipped, and offered Wifi throughout the entire hotel and even the rooms. Everything was very well kept and very clean.
The location of this hotel is a 1 minute walk to Piazza Venezia where the tomb of the unknown soldier is located. Directly behind there is the Roman Forum, and a short 5 minute walk in that same direction takes you to the Colosseum, where there is also a Metro Station. Walking in the other direction 5 minutes will take you to Trevi Fountains as well as the Pantheon and spanish steps, which are all equally close to the metro stops Barberini and Republica.
Another bonus that we found was the tram station at the right hand side of the piazza Venezia (when facing it). It ends right there so you can only take it one direction, which at night is an easy ride over the river to Trastevere; the "old" rome (isn't it ALL old?) where there are fantastic places to eat.
Why do I say ALL of this? Just to show you how great of a location this hotel really is. I highly suggest staying here for your trip to Rome. You will not be disappointed.
On another note, we were unable to enjoy to rooftop area because of rain and temperature, but we did go up and take a look. It is a wonderful relaxation spot with greenery and an excellent view. I can only imagine how nice it would have been during the warmer seasons to end your day with a glass of wine on the roof!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that face the inside. I think all rooms have a window that opens, which can get loud...

Spent 4 nights at the Cosmopolita and enjoyed everything about the hotel. Room was on the 4th floor over looking the busy street, but the sound proofed Windows made the room very quiet. Breakfast was adequate and enough to get you through the day.
Would return again.

We booked four nights at the Cosmopolita, having had a bad experience on our last trip to Rome at another hotel. We needn't have worried as the Cosmopolita is outstanding, both in service and value. It is situation right in the middle of tourist Rome and within easy walking distance of all the major historical sites.

The service was wonderful. The reception staff were always friendly and upbeat and were able to assist us with airport transfers, maps, directions, anything we needed. The breakfast was great, one of the better we had on our trip and which included a large variety of foods.

The hotel has a restaurant, cafe and bar but there are so many trattorias within a few minutes' walk of the hotel that we only availed ourselves of the food at breakfast and a snack one afternoon. Again, the staff were friendly and efficient and the food and drinks were great.

Our room was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was also a great size -something rare we have found. The sheets and towels were changed daily, and the room and the hotel in general were spotlessly clean.

The only negatives were the slowness of the free wifi internet in the room, and the fact that the air conditioning wasn't working and we had to rely on an open window for ventilation. But apart from that, we were thrilled with our choice and would defintely stay again!

conveniently located in the hotel. It is walking distance to everything. about 0.8 km to the colosseum, 1.5 km to the Vatican for example. we had a supremium hotel room with large bathroom. we thought it was very good. The bed was a little hard. Breakfast consisting of yogurt, bread, coffee and sweets.
