“Noisy at night”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this residenza for 12 nights. They are very nice and helpful. And they even get a taxi to pick up and drop of in the airport. The cleaning system wasn't bad as well. The only problem that we found was the outside noise. Very noisy at night and even in the morning is ( restaurant on the side of residenza). When we were trying to have some rest and sleep, because we spend the most of the days visiting the colloseum, vatican etc, there were always noise outside from 8/9pm till 1/2 am. In the morning sometimes even at 6 am they were doing some cleaning in the restaurant and we could hear from the residenza. So we had so spend some afternoons sleeping and having some rest. And go out a little at night. :(

As my husband could not get time off work, I travelled to Rome with my three children (12, 16 and 19), Rome being their destination of choice for our weeks break before the end of the summer hols.

I had chosen the Leonina based on previous reviews due to its location and we were not disappointed. It is literally just around the corner from the Colosseum and the Forum and lovely little restaurants nearby. The metro is just a short walk away and very easy to use as is the bus service. The staff were really great in helping to organise a day trip to Pompeii via Naples on our last full day there which we all enjoyed.

With regards to the apartment, although it looked clean, we found what looked like a shoe storage unit in the bathroom which had been used as a rubbish bin and had all sorts of nasty things in it! Although I highlighted it to reception and the bellboy before the three day clean was due, it probably got lost in translation. We should have actually bought them in to show them in order to get it sorted. The tv did not work which meant my children had to find other ways to entertain themselves. Luckily for them, they had bought all sorts of technology just in case!

Apart from that, great staff, great location for nearby attractions, the metro, restaurants and the lovely gelato bar across the road.

We had a good stay at Residenza Leonina. The location is wonderful, very close to the Forum and many beautiful churches. There are also many great restaurants nearby. Gelato Fatamorgana is right next door! The room was not very spacious but everything else was very nice. There was a great roof top patio.

Positive: Position is great, that's why I have chosen this hotel. Also photos are nice, but they are specially made to show only nice parts of hotel/room, they do not show everything.
Staff is quite helpful.

Negative: Smell in the rooms, dirty ceilings, walls (actually it is even not dirt, but the painting from ceiling was washed so many times, that it is taken off), the prices of residence were equal to 4 star hotel, but it hardly would match 2-3 star hotel. It was really a big disappointment, unfortunately I bought a non-refundable rate, otherwise I would definitely have changed this hotel.

Room Tip: If you still choose to stay in this hotel, make sure your room is not on the ground floor.

Very nice apartments in the center of Roma. Clean and comfortable for a very reasonable price. But sometimes it can be too loud from the piazza outside. Cleaning strictly once in three days, nice staff. Easy to get to most places in Roma by foot or by subway. Lots of beautiful shops, rests, cafés in Monti.

The location was excellent, situated in a lovely street, less than 10 minutes walk to the Colosseum and surrounded by nice restaurants. The apartment was basic, with very few utensils in the kitchen and no microwave. Shower very small. Cleaning was only done every 3 days, so with carpet on the floor, it was very dirty. The couch was a sofa bed, but with the mattress missing, the cushions sat on the bed springs, so we could not sit on it. Very noisy at night, because of people gathering in the square outside.
