“€70 breakfast.. Not faberge eggs”
Reviewed 31 January 2014 via mobile

The location is the thing with the minerve. Right by the pantheon, slap in the centre of Rome, awesome. And the room was modern and clean, but no points to charge phones, plug in iPod, ghds, hairdryers without unplugging a lamp. We were denied any access to roof garden as private party hired it, and it was closed during day. And seriously €70 for an average breakfast. Spoiled the whole thing.

Dear guest, thank you for taking your time to let us know you impressions of your stay. Customer feedback is precious to us, to understand and meet our guest’s needs. I have forwarded your observation about electric power outtakes to our technical department, who will find a solution for this issue. Regarding our breakfast, the price is absolutely in line with similar venues in Rome. We are sorry that you found it “average”, if you could let us know what you did not appreciate, we will have more hints about how to better this service. Best regards

Very central location. Nice main areas. Room was on 5th floor so quiet. Like a cold room and slept with windows open and it was peaceful. Room was ok. Bed large but no great luxury in room. That said because of the location would stay here again.

Dear Guest,
thank you for sharing with us your impressions of your stay. Our location, is ideal for those who wish or need to stay in Rome city centre. Close to the main government buildings and the main shopping streets, the most known monuments of the city are at hand, some of them only a hundred a meter away. Then the Minerva square, with it’s elephant, is a pedestrian area ,as most of the surrounding areas. This avoid most of the traffic jams and noises that are associated, granting our guest a relaxing stay. We will be happy to have you with us again in a near future, Best regards

A marvelous hotel, a stylish lobby and bar ( did not have a chance to see the hotel restaurants) charming personnel, stayed in a small suite, over looking the picturesque Piazza Minerva-
la dolce vita.
From now on, we would not stay anywhere else in Rome.

Room Tip: Spring for the rooms that face the piazza - "When in Rome…etc."

We only stayed 3 nights. I would have to say the cost is the ONLY drawback.
We had a 5th floor room overlooking Piazza Della Minerve and it was a treat. The only hotel room I have stayed in that was nicer was in the old wing of the Sofitel in Hanoi with a window opening onto a rooftop garden.
The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful always.
I begin to think that hotel staff are so used to rude, self-important guests that they develop an armour, which with a small amount of respect and courtesy, quickly disappears.
I would have loved a walk-in shower rather than one over the tub.
At my age climbing into a tub begins to be hazard but it's not critical.
Location is wonderful
Bed and linen were top class
Service great
Thought €70.00 for breakfast on top of the room charge a little steep, much more reasonable in Japan which is generally considered expensive....but the breakfast was as good as you would hope.
Room service was also very expensive but the food, with the strange exception of a very underwhelming pasta dish, was very good
Do yourself a favour and stay here
Rooftop restaurant probably will send you to the poorhouse but you'll remember it forever

Room Tip: Overlook the piazza

The best part about this hotel is the location. Right across the street from the Pantheon and walking distance to all the major sites. While the rooms are nicer than most places you will find in Europe, definitely not five stars. Perhaps what I liked least about this hotel was how snooty the staff was. Not helpful at all. One night, the concierge made us reservations at a restaurant which was not even open. Considering the price, there are other hotels where I will stay when I return to Rome.

Wow, reading some of the other reviews, I was a little frightened, but we love this neighborhood in Rome, having stayed previously at the Albergo Santa Chiara (nice but basic) and wanted something a little more upscale. Minerve fit the bill quite well. We have a mid-tier room price-wise (Deluxe) and it is spacious and comfortable. The rooftop bar is a delight. Have not tried breakfast, but recommend the Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè around the corner. My response to the complaints: “tired, needs rehab” – absolutely not ! Room good, mattresses and linens nice, furniture in carpets in hallways fine. Public areas beautiful. “Expensive” – well, how valuable is the real estate on which this hotel sits, 100 yards from the Pantheon? You could pay this much in New York for half the amount of room. “Drink prices at bar outrageous” – We had two nice drinks – my vodka on the rocks was a triple pour – for about 27 Euro, but without asking they brought 4 plates of snacks (peanuts, patate fritters, smoked salmon appetizer, olives), and I’d probably have paid that just for the view. I had never seen what the top of the Pantheon looks like ! “Staff” – most reviewers admit the staff are great, and they are. Loaned me a plug for my electronic devices when my older one didn’t fit; gave recommendations of everything (pharmacia, hardware store, coffee shop). Sincerely pleasant and not tip-grubbing (no one in Italy seems to be grubbing for tips; they just do their jobs. A nice change from the US). I am grateful for a unique yet upscale experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the plaza.

You could not ask for a better place to be than right next to all the sights and sounds of Rome! This is a very old building, full of character and charm. It is a traditional Italian style hotel, the staff are friendly and will do what they can to help you. Rooms are comfortable, I slept well and they have the usual facilities. Many people will say the rooms are small and the lifts are tiny - but that's what happens when you stay in such an old building! Everything you need is nearby and walking distance to your door!
