I recently stayed at this B & B with my daughters aged 20 and 10 years old. It was excellent. Th rooms are large, clean and air-conditioned. The owners were very friendly, annotated maps for us to ,ake sure we knew how to get to the attractions we wanted to. The location is excellent for walking to the Vatican city and for hoping on busses or metro to all other locations. We also had a day where my 10 year old just could not face any more attraction, so Simone recommended the beach. He talked us through trains and buses taking us to the beach where we had a delightful day. I can highly recommend it.

The Old Kitchen B&B is a cozy get away for those wishing to be "just" outside of Rome's Center, close to the Vatican and near some AWESOME restos.

The owner and care taker, Simome, was truly friendly, caring and even shared his time with us out of the spirit of interest, not money !!!

We really as if we visited family. 200 % SUGGESTION

Old Kitchen B&B is a clean, basic and centrally located b&b with friendly owners. Our room was bright and spacious, had good basic amenities (and aircon), and was perfect for a family of four. However, for a b&b, the breakfast was perhaps a little disappointing (although in line with many other b&bs in Italy). Guests prepare their own breakfast with supermarket toast bread, cartons of orange juice and yoghurt, and small packs of cream cheese and jam from the fridge. However, guests can use the espresso machine any time, which is great. The location is pretty good for exploring Rome on foot. It is only a five minute walk to the Vatican, a 30 minute walk to the Pantheon, and a 10 euro taxi ride to the Colosseum. There are also plenty of nice restaurants in the area. Simone, the owner, can help book a private car from the airport, which is safe and very convenient - and costs the same as a taxi.
Recommended? Definitely! Would we stay again? Yes.

A really enjoyable stay at Old Kitchen, there was five of us across three rooms which meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves most of the time. Simone offered a very warm welcome on our arrival and had even forewarned us about potential Metro strikes by email (communication prior to our arrival was very good). He also took the time to annotate a few maps for us with details of buses that run from nearby to popular attractions (e.g. The Colosseum) as well as recommendations of places to eat and things to do.

The accommodation itself has been fitted out to a very high standard including a fully fitted (and stocked!!) communal kitchen, which was great not just for breakfast, but anytime you're feeling a bit peckish. It was also particularly useful to have a fridge in which you could store your own food and drink.

The B & B is located in a quiet residential apartment block about 5-10 minutes walk from the Vatican, with good transport links into the centre of Rome, although I would recommend walking at least once (around 4km) heading down along the banks of the Tiber as there's plenty to see on the way. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the immediate area, including an indoor market just round the corner. I would recommend dining at Il Ragno D'Oro - which is literally 150m from the B & B - excellent authentic Italian cuisine at a very good price; five of us, 2 courses and a couple of bottles of wine for under €100.

Ultimately, It's the personal touches that you simply don't get with a Hotel that really sets this place apart and also gives you the opportunity to experience a taste of real life in Rome with some respite from the crowded streets and tourist traps of the city centre.

We were a group of 12 seniors who have long planned this Europe trip and it was important to consider not only the cost but also the convenience and safety of all, taking into account the many different taste and preferences of each member. Old Kitchen B&B met each and every requirement we had. Even if it was on the 4th floor (5th in US) there was an elevator we could use and the for those who wanted to climb the stairs it was safe and possible because the slant was very gradual. Everything was very very clean. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious. The kitchen was big enough to accommodate the group when we congregated. We all loved the coffee machine. Breakfast was generous and so were the snacks and fruits that the hosts left which is not common in B&Bs. The location can't be beat. You are in the same block as the metro and it is very close to the Vatican and St.Peter's. Simone and Anette were such gracious hosts, we felt right at home from the time we met them. The only down side was that we were always concerned if we were making a lot of noise when we were congregating in the kitchen, since the wall between the B&B's kitchen and the neighbor's is quite thin. I hope Simone did not get a call from their neighbor complaining about us.

Rome can be a daunting place for non Italian speaking people, so the hosts at Old Kitchen domake a huge difference to your stay. Simone and Annette are just one of a kind. It is in a pretty apartment block in a safe area. When you first arrive, the cheerful helpful Simone will sit down with you and over a coffee provide you it all the information you could need, maps, train details, etc. and answer any of your questions. I found some things in Rome a bit overwhelming and they made me feel at home and at ease in this city. The room and ensuite are spotless. There is a kitchen which is stocked daily so you just help yourselves to what ever you need including snacks. It is just around the corner from the Met, some great Restaurants (see review) and other shops. I just can't speak more highly of this B & B and it's wonderful hosts, thank you so much Simone and Annette "Allora"

Have just returned from a four day stay in the Old Kitchen, and i have to agree totally with the other reviewers, it is just brilliant, a real home from home.Room and bathroom were spotless, modern and comfortable. The kitchen was perfect and the idea of being able to have breakfast or indeed any snack at your own convenience was brilliant. Also Annette bakes fresh cake every day, yum! Any extra blankets towels toiletries are all there to help yourself to, also an iron hairdryer and even a wireless printer are all there for your convenience. Annette went through the local map with us and gave us directions, information, bus routes and even the cheapest and best way back to the Airport, all of which proved invaluable. Both Annette and Simone are warm lovely people but as they don't actually stay on site, you felt so free and not like you were intruding in anyones home! Great shopping and food nearby, we walked pretty much everywhere but the metro is literally round the corner and the Vatican is 5 mins away. No problem leaving our bags for the day even after checkout, Simone has secure storage sorted, it was excellent. Would not hesitate to recomend the Old Kitchen to anyone.
