This small hotel is well situated, just off Piazza Bernini, close to the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Borghese Gallery and the Metro. Fifteen minute walk to the Colosseum, 5 Metro stops to the Vatican 10 minute cab ride to the Termini Station.
Rooms are clean and comfortable..we asked for and were given extra pillows, water piping hot in the showers and our bath was a jacuzzi..heaven after a day of walking. We never found an English Channel on the TV but with free WiFi this was not an issue.
Breakfasts were good, always a selection of fresh pastries, yoghurt , muesli, peaches, prunes, macerated fruits and scrambled eggs. Hot tea, caffe, cappuccinos on request.
We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and then out other nights. Front desk staff were wonderful..lots of information, made us restaurant reservations, very accommodating to all our requests.

The good: Location, value, and friendly staff. Heavy drapes, almost blackout, no outside noise. Even though it was before May 15 (when they usually turn on AC in Rome), one of our party has a physical condition which is impacted by heat, so they sent an Engineer to the room and adjusted AC to comfortable low setting. 5 minute walk to the top of the Spanish Steps, about 8 min to the Trevi Fountain.

Hotel restaurant had decent food at acceptable prices, but only 2 staff ever working, even when it was packed. But wow did they keep things moving! Breakfast was OK – cold cuts, scrambled eggs, pastries, cakes, cereal, juice, 2-3 fruits per day.

The not so good: Our family had 2 rooms, both with very hard beds and small TVs located high on the wall which didn’t work well. The deluxe double was spacious, but had only 2 very hard side chairs and 2 very small night stands. Large marble bath with rainfall shower – but shower knobs are directly under the shower head so it is very easy to bump the knobs and change the water temp or flow.

The classic double was very small, and the tub/shower combo had a mushy feeling on the tub floor which was slippery and felt unstable. Towels were large, but very thin and rough. Soap didn’t lather. Sign said no outside food or beverages allowed in rooms, but fortunately that didn’t seem to be enforced. Prices in the hotel bar were very high.

However, even with the things we weren't crazy about, this is a nice hotel in a great location. The terrace restaurant was closed due to rain :(, but I'm sure it would add much to the hotel experience.

Room Tip: upgrade to the deluxe double - extra space is more than worth it.

We have stayed at the Ottocento now on four occasions on our trips to Rome. Why - you may ask when there are so many hotels to choose from?
It is well located, good value and friendly in a city where hotels are usually overpriced. Although not luxurious they do the basics well and we couldn't fault the service and cleanliness. We will be back for our annual trip next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the street not the inner courtyard

Situated near the top of the Spanish Steps and not far from upscale hotels like the Hassler and the Intercontinental this discreet and very pleasant hotel offers excellent value. The breakfast is attractive and varied. The restaurant seems to be a local favorite with good food. Several good trattorias are in the area and the front desk will advise on their locations. The hotel offers a car service-- inquire for fees. This is a small property, clean and well run. The front desk is extremely helpful, professional and courteous. The metro is nearby and very easy to use.
Overall, very good value.

Wonderful location. Close to the Trevi Fountain and other landmarks. Metro station 50m away. Breakfast buffet interesting. Very, very nice staff, helpful with everything.
Minus are small rooms. The rooms even from the street quiet. Unfortunately, the walls very thin and you can hear the sounds of the room from a neighbor.

Stayed 4 nights at Easter time. Staff was courteous, helpful, friendly, neatly attired and helped in making arrangements for dinner, transportation and tours. Breakfast buffet was fresh, plenty of options. Room and bathroom were clean and neat. Great shower! Quiet street, especially after 10 pm. Small enclosed patio nice for sitting. Close to HOHO and city bus stops, metro station, shopping. Also, short level walk to top of Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. We even walked to the Colosseum and Vatican City, a little over a mile to each. I would stay there again. Value was "very good" only because we stayed during Holy Week and prices were a little higher than if we stayed another time.

Discreet and elegant hotel between Sistena and Via Veneto. Marbled floors and dark wood, with a small bar and restaurant attached. Excellent and prompt attention in Reception.
The bedroom was well furnished in a classic manner, with a large well equipped bathroom, including jacuzzi bath. Spotlessly clean, a real haven right in the centre of town.

Close by, some bars which serve delicious sandwiches that are toasted. And in the usual Roman way, if you stand at the bar it is significanly less than sitting down !
