“BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN ROME”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Excellently situated- 7 minutes walk from Trevi fountain, and 5 minutes walk from Spanish Steps;
Friendly, polite and efficient front office, housekeeping and restaurant staff.
Clean and well appointed rooms.
Made our stay in Rome memorable.
Only one thing missed: no tea/coffee making facility in room.

Very well-situated 4-star hotel in the centre of the best part of town and like most reviewers state, one can walk to most highlights or take the metro with a one-day €6 pass.
Reception staff most accommodating with a room change when shown a room down 12 steps, despite there being an elevator; some rooms at the rear are not very accessible. There is a porter, but still, it should be advertised better so that guests are not "stuck" in such rooms. Our "new" room #102 overlooked the street, but it is a small one-way street and it quietens down by 11pm or so.
The beds were very comfortable and the linens were replaced daily.
The air conditioning was effective but the extra effort of keeping the double shutters closed during the day was the key to a cool room.
The buffet breakfast had something for every taste, with scrambled eggs and bacon too. An added delight was pear juice! The Breakfast room doubles as a Restaurant at night, in addition to the Rooftop Restaurant.
The roof-top restaurant is not to be missed; open summer evenings from 17:30 onwards; the setting under large umbrellas in a garden of jasmine and geraniums is so pleasant you'd want to dine there daily. The service is very attentive and the menu and wine list extensive. I ordered tuna tartare then the mixed grill and they were exquisite as well as plentiful. (Multzumesc!)
The friendly staff at Reception are very knowledgeable in finding the right tour for you as they did for us:a half-day Gray Line Vatican/Sistine Chapel Gray Line tour, with pick-up at hotel 10h30 and dropoff neaby for EUR58 p/p!
This small hotel is a gem, the staff are what makes this hotel an oasis you'd want to return to over again.

Room Tip: Nothing wrong with room on street as it is a tiny one-way street leading down from Via Veneto.

Spent a few days this week at the Albergo Ottocento - and definitely we will come back. Location is fantastic in a very quiet street and just two minutes walk from the Barberini Metro which is two stops from Termini Train Station - five minutes walk each to the Spanish Steps and the Fountain Trevi.

The hotel itself has everything you need - good sized rooms - comfortable bathrooms - AC which works well - good breakfast - and a nice rooftop restaurant - and with a wonderful staff - and I would like to compliment Simone at the reception for her patience, help and support - invaluable.

Warning - when in Rome - just be aware of pick pocketing - we got robbed on the Metro of our credit cards and within less than 10 minutes 4 K Euro had been charged to my two credit cards. Whatever u do - do not ever take the Metro during rush hours - the Metro is just jammed with people and you have no chance of keeping control of your pockets or bags - our bag was unzipped and wallet taken deep inside - nothing else - very professional job regrettably.

Despite the above - Rome is magic - and the Albergo Ottocento a hidden gem reasonably priced too!

Room Tip: My room was facing the street and there is no noise issue whatsoever.

The location of the hotel is good and within easy walking distance to most of the historical site, however I particularly booked this hotel seeing a nice picture of dining tables on a roof terrace and wanted to dine there for my birthday celebration. To my disappointment I found it locked with the tables and chairs pushed to one side and the alternative restaurant on the ground floor was without character and the food average and expensive. The restaurant is run separately from the hotel so you can't add the meal to your hotel bill. The room was basic and small and the plumbing left a lot to be desired. The toilet flush ran constantly and the wash hand basin plug lever operated from underneath the bowl and took some finding. The staff made an effort to be polite but came across some what sullen. On a positive note the sheets and towels were changed daily and the room kept clean.

Great hotel. Excellent and friendly staff that spoke very good English. Spacious room that was very quiet with a nice little terrace. Excellent location. Only let down was no tea or coffee facilities in the room.

I wish there was a waiting room in a bottle of water, at least on the first day . No kettle in the room for those who like tea /coffee.
basic room and furniture. There is not enough room for two suitcases. The walls are thin and you can hear the people in the next room. The staff not particularly friendly but helpfull when u ask some information . no lobby.

Excellent sized bed but the mattress slightly harder. The sheets and towels are clean and nice. The bathroom is small but pleasant. Malfunction of water leak repaired immediately!. Decent breakfast but there is not white cheese, some fresh fruit.

In addition, was the the entrance to the room - 4 rooms in a very narrow spot, which caused us wake up every time when someone came to his room and opened the door, or spoke with his partner.

Although we ordered a room in advance, we had room that we had needed to climb 10 steps in order to reach the elevator and 10 stairs to go down to the room. Very disappointing.
It is a relatively quiet area but close to attractions. we loved the area which was great!

Room Tip: Avoid taking a room that needs to be reached by the stairs.

Wonderful Location but Hotel is just okay.Be sure and ask for a room away from street. Stayed
5 nites and found that at times we had NO Hot Water to shower, toilet only flushed properly part of the time,Air Condition was not working most of the time. Front desk person from Romainia is
very helpful and smart. Would not stay here again. But Resturant was good that is connected
to Hotel called Rossini

Room Tip: Not on Street!!!
