“Good clean room, short walk from the metro”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

My son and I stayed here for 4 nights Oct. 22,23,24,25, 2013, and it was easy to find using GPS. A 10/15 minute walk from the Lepanto Metro station, this hotel is well situated to walk to the Vatican area, and about for the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of Rome. Breakfast gave us a good start to the day, with cereals, croissants (plain and dessert) 2 kinds of meats, 2 kinds of cheese, coffee/tea/4 kinds of juices, hard boiled eggs etc. for 7.50 euro. Would stay again!!

Room was a small triple for three adults which I thought might be cramped, but the rooms were sufficiently large to accommodate us all. Very clean. Excellent friendly staff at the reception. Didn't try the breakfast as we were told about a café in the street behind the hotel. Three coffees and three pastries for 6.50 euros so bit of a no brainer. 15 minute walk to Lepanto with the hotel in a very quiet, upmarket location. Good Spar in Piazza Mazzini. Will go again and would recommend this hotel highly.

Smallish, clean, and nice hotel in a non-touristy area, so there are some nice restaurants nearby as well. It's on a quiet street right next to the RAI Delle Vittorie theater. 10-minute walk to the nearest metro station (Lepanto), and Villa Giulia is not too far away either. You can even walk to the Vatican and Piazza Navona areas, it's not too far. Staff was friendly. No English-language TV channels (there should have been one, but we couldn't find it), basic breakfast.

Dear Guest,
we would like to thank you for sharing your experience at Hotel delle Vittorie with us and with the other Tripadvisor readers. As you noticed, our hotel is located away from the hustle and bustle, well connected with the very centre of Rome by several public means of transports: besides the metro, there are many bus lines connecting with the most important city spots; many places, ad Vatican, are at a reasonable walking distance. RAI (our national broadcasting company) has many of its head offices, TV and radio studios. The closest one of them, the next door Teatro delle Vittorie TV studio, is even visIble in our official website picture gallery. We hope we can welcome you again soon. Breakfast is just normal. Everything else is good. A bit far if you don't like to walk. Perfect if you enjoy exploring what locals do. Quiet Place, great sleep. Some good restaurants nearby. Walking distante to Vaticano.

This is the second time I stay at this hotel. I liked it the first time, so when opportunity came to return to Rome, I chose the same hotel.
It is located in a non touristic part of Rome, so everything you'll see around you is authentic - the homes, the restaurants and cafes, the small shops, etc. The locals are very nice and friendly, very patient with you if you don't know how things work there. However, it's about 20-minute walk north of the Vatican and there are many buses going downtown (the Colosseum, fontana di Trevi, so on). We mostly took bus 30. There's also metro station Lepanto about 10 minutes away from the hotel. One trip is 1.50 euros. You buy the tickets from metro stations (you need coins) or from Tabacchi (tobacco shops that sell various stuff, too). You validate you ticket when you hop on the bus or when you take the metro, and from that time on it's valid for 100 minutes, which is plenty of time to get almost anywhere in Rome.
The service is very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful, 24/7 reception. They speak English and I heard many of them speak Spanish.
Breakfast is simple, but plenty - bread, meat, cheese, eggs, butter, croissants, chocolate, cake, cereals, and many drinks. The ladies at the buffet are very quick and attentive with filling up the plates and cleaning the tables.
The room is average size, very clean, with sufficient storage room. They clean it everyday. The bathroom is spacious, with bathtub. There's also A/C for cold and warm.
Wifi si free in the rooms, and there's a desktop downstairs.
Right around the corner there's a wonderful cafe - pasticceria - Vanni, that sells delicious sandwhiches, coffee and sweets. Like everywhere in Rome (and Italy), it's cheaper to buy food inside than to be waited on at the table. There are special prices for seating at the table outside (tavola - price), which can sometimes be double the price for eating inside. Vanni also has a good restaurant, also very popular in the neighbourhood, with very reasonable prices and friendly staff.
About 5 minutes from the hotel there's also a (small) supermarket, just in case.
Need to say the neighbourhood is very safe and pleasant. The hotel is quiet, you'll get very good sleep, nobody's shouting or running on the corridors, the cleaning staff doesn't make noise. Also, has an elevator if you carry heavy bags.
So, no unpleasant surprises, no bad experience. It's a perfect place to have a rest after walking around Rome all day.

Room Tip: You can ask the staff for espresso or capuccino in the breakfast room :)

We stayed here for four nights in September 2013. As soon as we arrived we had a good experience of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. They gave us a spare pillow, sorted out our free Wi-Fi and sorted out our transport back to the airport. Our room was a good size and with a comfortable double bed. The bathroom was spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was included in our stay and comprised of a normal continental - including a range of tea/coffee (inc Earl Grey tea), cereals, yogurts, cakes, bread rolls, cheeses and meats, hard boiled eggs and a choice of fruit (tinned and fresh). Again all the staff were friendly and helpful.

The nearest tube stop is Lepanto which is about 10 minutes walk away but those who are fitter could walk to The Vatican from the hotel. It is in a mainly residential area of Rome so adds to the authentic experience. We ate in a number of local restaurants around this area (please check out my other reviews for more details). It was fun to work out what was on the menu with my very poor Italian and their English.

For a three star hotel, this hotel is not only value for money but highly recommended. I would stay here again.

Here are my top five tips for Staying in Rome:
1. Don't buy a Roma Pass (about 34 Euros) unless you intend to go to lots of museums and art galleries. This ticket does not include the Vatican and you still have to queue at the sights to buy your tickets. We bought a three day ticket (called a tourist ticket) for 16 Euros and it gave us unlimited travel for three days. (You can also buy a one day ticket or a timed ticket). All tickets are available from the machines at the station or via Tobacconists.

2. Do buy your Vatican ticket online before you go. This was the best result ever. The queue for the Vatican was at least two hours long and we could walk straight in as we had bought in advance. It is true that this did cost us four Euros more than the face value price but was worth saving two hours. We chose not to book a tour for the Vatican as they hurry you through. We could take it at our own pace and concentrate on what we really wanted to see. Allow a whole day for this - so much art and culture in one place is breath-taking.

3. Be aware of the guys dressed up outside the Colosseum. I wanted one photo with one guy and we ended up being really ripped off with this. They use your own camera to take the photo and we were high-jacked by about four of them who then charged us 40 Euros for three photos. (I asked the tour guide afterwards and she told me it is usually about five Euros). Just negotiate the price in advance.

4. I have read it is illegal for restaurants to charge a 'cover charge' on your bill. They try to get around this by offering you bread. The bread was often hard and not tasty so you can refuse it and not be charged for it.

5. We booked a tour of the Colosseum that included the third tier (not been opened since the 1970's) and the lower levels where they kept the animals. It was worth every penny to find out so much more about it and was a semi-private tour so very small numbers of people with us. We did find out afterwards you can book access direct with the Colosseum for a cheaper price but we felt it was worth the money and we skipped all the queues. Our tour was booked with TickItaly and was half the price of some of the others offering a similar package. Colosseum ticket price includes The forum too!

Rome is a stunning city - enjoy your visit. xx

Room Tip: We stayed in room 108 which is front facing and a good size room.

I was in Rome for a 3 day meeting at the Vatican and chose this hotel based on Tripadvisor's rating. I was not disappointed. All of the staff spoke English and made it easy to obtain what ever help I needed. I reserved a double room based on some of the comments and it was quite large with a delightfully long bathtub. (When will American hotels learn the value of a good tub? sigh!) The internet connection was stable and allowed me to work every evening without interruption. It was too far to walk to the Vatican for me to easily walk with books and briefcase, but cabs arrived within 5 minutes of my call. Just down the block are a couple of good restaurants and there is a stocked mini-fridge in the room. The neighborhood appears to be residential and as a woman traveling alone I felt very safe walking in the evenings. I will happily stay there again.
