“Great value for your money, convenient location”
Reviewed 15 October 2011

If you are looking for a convenient, no frills, and economical place to stay in Rome, this is the place for you. My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and we were very pleased with the location, especially for 70 euros per night in early September.
The basilica is beautiful, and the area is very quiet. The walk to the metro is about 7 minutes, or about 25 minute walk to ancient Rome. We walked early morning and late night, and always felt safe. There is a lovely cafe and bakery across the street, and some great local restaurants in the area - perfect to go to if you are looking to get away from the touristy areas.
The cold breakfast served was much better than we expected, given the price of our room, and it is included in your stay. It included cheeses and meats, fresh breads and crossiants, cakes, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, juices and coffee.
Our room was big enough to fit our needs, and very clean. The bed was a bit too hard for my liking.
The service was great at the front desk. All of the front desk employees spoke english, and were very helpful in supporting us in trying book reservations at museums. They made phone calls for us, and even gave us a free internet pass for their internet cafe to book on line. It also seemed to be one of the last places in Rome to sell the very popular Roma Pass, that was sold out on line and everywhere else we looked into prior to our trip.
Overall, we definately got our money's worth, and more than expected given the price.

Quiet, small rooms of large, marbled corridors, elegant and simple decorations, user-friendly as well as historically charming and a breathtaking location. Walking distance to Colisseum (15 mins through some great piazzas and streets). Close to metro. Great restaurant on corner opposite the piazza.

Hotel staff are friendly, breakfast standard Italian fare, no problems, no fuss, a real treat. Children were accommodated at no extra cost, we were made to feel very welcome.

Parking not so easy, but not difficult nearby.

Wonderful.

Room Tip: Upstairs if you can! view onto the piazza is a great way to begin the day

If you're looking to be pampered -- flat screen tv, stocked mini-fridge, room service -- this is not your hotel. If you want a clean, comfortable bed to sleep in after a long day of exploring Rome, this might be your place.

This hotel was a little difficult to find as it's connected to the adjacent Basilica and doesn't have obvious signage until you're right at the entrance. However, from the very beginning, the staff was really nice and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, away from the really touristy area around the Colosseum, but it is only about a 15 minute walk to that area. There is also a bus line right in front of the hotel.

The rooms were simple and all I needed after walking all day. The only problem I had with my room was that I had to walk quite a long way to get to it. A really long way.

They offer a free breakfast, well-stocked with just about anything you might be in the mood for.

The hotel itself has a lot of character and is definitely a place I will stay in again.

I really liked the Domus Sessoriana. It has so much character, being in a monastery architecturally connected to the Santa Croce Basilica, one of the seven pilgrimage basilicas of Rome. There is a modern glass elevator that takes you way up to huge hallways with large clean rooms. There is a wonderful terrace at the top with a terrific view of the southern part of Rome. From my room I had a view of the Aurelian walls and San John Lateran. The guys at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for Rome: within the walls in a peaceful location but close to San Giovanni metro stop. I'll definitely stay here next time I am in Rome.

As the other reviews will tell you, this hotel is architecturally amazing (there's a beautiful rooftop patio where you can watch the sunset over the city) but doesn't have a lot of frills. The rooms are average sized with a nice bathroom. There's a small television and a small safe. One thing that may be a drawback to some people is that the beds are very firm. I personally loved it, but it may not be for everyone.

Breakfast in the mornings was cold meats, cheeses, breads, pastries and cereal. Coffee and juice were also provided. Again, nothing fancy but everything was delicious.

Finally, the hotel staff was amazing. Always willing to go above and beyond to help you figure out Rome. We got great restaurant recommendations, bus routes that took us straight from the hotel to the Colosseum, etc. Overall, they were awesome!
