The Pinewood hotel was a good selection for our needs. We decided, last minute, to stay overnight in Rome before our flight home. We wanted somewhere relatively close to the tourist attractions without paying dearly for it.

The hotel was VERY difficult for us to find. Google maps was no help at all. I would highly recommend getting a GPS in your rental car if travelling Rome. That would have definitely helped in locating the hotel. Didn't think I needed it as I've driven in Rome many times but, nope, not this time.
The hotel is located on a very busy street. It has a nice lobby which is quite airy and large. The desk attendant, Gennaro, was very helpful and quite cheerful. The room was a quad and suited our needs perfectly as we were only staying for the one night. It included free parking (with security cameras and gates) and free wifi. Breakfast was included which consisted of yummy baked goods, assorted hot beverages and scrambled eggs for us North Americans.
There's a bus stop about 50 feet from the hotel which will bring you to the Vatican or elsewhere. The Metro is also very close by but we didn't take that so can't comment,
Don't know if I'd stay again and that's only because I'm not a huge fan of Rome. Too busy for my liking. I prefer the smaller, picturesque parts of Italy.
Happy travels!

Stayed here with our tour group. Very clean hotel and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was good and they had a wide variety of food. We had a dinner there for our group and the lasagna was excellent. Since we were with a tour group we did not have to worry about transportation although we were able to walk to shops in the area.

We stopped for 2 nights on a Shearings coach tour and found the hotel comfortable but basic. The rooms are very compact but clean and functional and the restaurant serves adequate food and a fairly good breakfast. The location is not great but as we were on a tour it was not a problem and the Coach could get us into Rome fairly quickly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor away from the stairwell.

Second to the last stop on the Metro - way out in the burbs. Walk to everything. Rooms were dated and there was mold on the shower ceiling and huge cracks in the caulking around the tub in our bathroom. Beds were very hard. Internet was not free and service was scattered in the hotel. We were part of a large group however if going again, I would stay a bit closer to the city center and in a more upscale facility.

Room Tip: Bring sturdy walking shoes and plenty of euro for the Metro or bus.

We stayed here for 4 nights. A nice hotel with clean rooms, good breakfast choices and polite staff. On the downside, very hard mattress and pillow and very dated decor. But the biggest negative had to be the inconvenient location. Despite the metro being 10 mins walk, we found having to travel into town each day to see the sights and go shopping tedious. Especially when we did quite a bit of shopping and had to cart our stuff around until we were ready to catch the train back to the hotel. We did not feel safe coming back on the metro at night....Agree with other posts about the dodgy looking Neighbourhood and graffiti making it look dirty and unsafe. You have to walk quite a distance to come across any half decent looking restaurants...i wouldn't stay there again mainly due to inconvenience and surrounds.

We would not hesitate to stay there again. It was very pleasant and quiet. We stayed 2 nights on tour from Trafalger. The hotel is medium to small size which we like. They handled the check-in and luggage very well. The rooms are very nice sized, up to date (not fancy) and clean. The AC worked great. The only minor glitch is shower took some time to figure out. We liked the location because it felt that we were in a small neighborhood in a large city. We had a patio with our room and relaxing on it was very pleasant and private because there were trees surrounding it and the closet building was a good distance away. The hotel is across the street from a very large park. It is a 2-3 block walk to restaurants and convenience shops. Breakfast buffet was just okay, not great. Unfortunately, to get ice you have to ask at front desk or bar. We did get free WiFi as part of tour.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor which included a very nice sized and private patio.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of an escorted holiday tour of Rome. If travelling independently I would want to be closer to the centre of the city ( and would be willing to pay more for the privilege ) , but as all our transport was arranged, it was fine. Clean, but not great.
