“Surprised at previous reviews”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

We stayed at this hotel two years ago and were quite satisfied, however, our recent stay indicated a marked improvement on an already acceptable standard. The reception staff are excellent and Mr Alessandro, in particular, was outstanding in his helpful approach throughout our 4 day stay. He achieved bookings in restaurants, happily, even when asked to do so a number of consecutive times when the targets were fully booked. A taxi was organised for us for a day trip with Mr Tonino (Ph 339 8584101) who was absolutely wonderful and speaks English. The cleaning staff were excellent. Wi-Fi is free, easily accessed and a very welcome change from exorbitant prices. Reception will print boarding passes for you. Breakfast is good value, staff helpful and food of a good quality. Room 116 is a corner room and recommended, close to emergency exit and easily accessed from the lobby without the lift. Though the shower is Roman size, the bathroom is well presented and well maintained. Air conditioning works, is adjustable and not noisy. Windows are double glazed so noise from via Nazionale is minimal. Public areas are well presented and clean. The only suggestion is that tea/coffee making facilities would be welcome. I am surprised at some of the previous reviews, we demand value for money but we were pleased with all aspects of the hotel especially the reception staff.

Room Tip: Room116 was most acceptable.

The rooms here very from on the large size to tiny. Make sure to ask for a larger room when booking. We were originally given a tiny room with an even smaller bathroom. The shower was just large enough to stand in... moving around wasn't much of an option. Once they moved us to a larger room our experience got much better. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and knowledgeable about the city. The location was great and had access to buses, the metro, and was walking distance to a lot of attractions.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room or you could get stuck in something closet sized.

Hmm...Mixed review just like the reviews I read here!

It was small, but as I was alone on business, I liked the coziness!

Theres no tea/coffee making facilities, but I they sent me a tray with a kettle, cups, coffeess- for free! very nice

Service is very good

very good location. walking distance to most places

The hot water didnt work in the shower on day 1, and the dials on the heting in the room were faded..apart from that comfy bed, blankets,...cant complain

Its not a 4 star, no real luxury, but its decent, a good choice.

Good location but terrible service, the room was tiny. No water and no hot water in the morning!the wifi wasn't working in the room, I had to stay in the bathroom to use the Internet! The electricity went off several times. The breakfast was very poor, the eggs were cold and the worst coffee you can drink in Rome. The staff were only recommending me touristic restaurants. Would never come back to this hotel.

Decent hotel in a great location within walking distance of the main train station and all major attractions. Rooms are adequate for the price point but nothing special. Unfortunately my room had very noisy mechanical ventilation, which disrupted my sleep.

Location was great and first impressions very nice but thought room could do with some rennovation. Also every time someone walked past door the wardrobe rattled. Could hear next room plugging in items in wall. Breakfast was nice.

We stayed at the hotel in 2nd half of the June. Everything was great. We got there around 11h,our room was not ready, check in was in 14h. We left our luggage in hotel and went out to eat something. Came back at 14h,our room was ready and we got better and bigger room that expected. In our situation wifi worked good. Second night we had small problem with toilet, water keep going after you flush it,but they fix it next day when we said it to reception. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was great, wide selection of all. GREAT location of the hotel. Everything is in walking distance. Termini station is 10min walking (15min from the shuttle bus stop with the suitcase), Colosseum 15min, Spanish steps 10-15min, Trevi little bit more, Piazza Venecia 15min, 5min from the metro station. Hotel is in via Nacional, wide street with lots of shops, supermarket is across the street from the hotel, bus stop in front of the hotel. Hotel has it own transfer to the airport but maybe it is too expensive, 50e.
It was great 5 days in Rome, credit also goes to the hotel. If I come to Rome again, I would pick this hotel again.
