Great little hotel in an even better location. Friendly staff, a good sized room with air conditioning and a decent breakfast. It's not luxurious but if you are planning to do Rome on a small buget I can highly recommend this hotel.

I was staying in Clarin hotel on May 2013.
The reviews I have read, about this hotel, were from long time ago so I decieded to take the chance and book it after I spoke with the owner.

I wasn't wrong! The hotel is really good and was just what we were looking for.
It is clean, with great service, wonderful breakfast and good location.

It is very close to the teminal, walking distance from the main atractions and there are also many bus lines that pass close by and gcan take you anywhere you want.

Great value for its price and really recommended.

Enjoy!

Room Tip: We have stayed in a non renovated room and it was OK as well but on our last day we have been told t...

The hotel is well located in the heart of Rome near the Termini train station and all the main attractions. The Fountain of Trevi and the Colisseum are easily reachable by walk. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. The manager can be different languages and she is always ready to help you.
The hotel itself is clean, with a large variety of food for breakfast.

Negative points: the room was a bit little with a very small bathroom. The air condition is very noisy.

I would advise this hotel for people who have a small budget and stay for few days

Filled with trepidation as I approached this hotel, about 20 minutes by foot from Termini station (a bit closer to the Repubblica Metro station, if you want to lug your bags up stairs and past pickpockets). The building that it's housed in is old and dirty, and the elevator up the the 2nd floor was a tiny wire cage thing which looks as if it was built before WWII. However, once you get up to the second floor, things change for the better. The hotel is quite bright and modern, having been recently refurbished, with new paint, decor and fittings everywhere. It's extremely clean, too.

My room, a single, was absolutely tiny, less than 6 feet wide and about 12 feet long. The window in the room opened up into a typical Roman "courtyard" of the backs of surrounding dingy buildings, perhaps 5 or 6 stories high, which let in a small amount of light from the sky high above. So the view was pretty gross. Furthermore, the room had no sink, shower or toilet. These were in a separate room, two doors down the hallway, but this was exclusively mine to use, and had its own lock, so I think most of the other rooms had their own toilet and bathroom.

However, both the bedroom and the bathroom were very clean, and were made up each day. The biggest pleasant surprise was the free breakfast, in a modern little dining room opposite the lobby. By Roman standards, this was excellent - as well as the usual bread and croissants, there was a tray of sliced salami, a selection of (processed) cheese, cereals, jams, warm boiled eggs, fruit and other pastries. Plus a friendly waitress who made a variety of excellent coffee.

Wi-fi is available, but costs 3 Euros a day extra, and you have to have it for the whole of your stay, or not at all - you can't, for example, buy a one day access. However, there is a PC available for free use in the lobby, which had fast internet access. At around 80 Euro per night for a single room, it's not the cheapest option in Rome, especially given its distance from the central station, the size of the room and the external toilet and wash facilities. But there were certainly no issues with cleanliness or comfort, And the breakfast is great.

Nice little quaint hotel near nice shopping. It is a relatively good location near beautiful sights. Has ventilation (a window and fan), a fun and nice experience to try. The people there were very kind and helpful. When it was time to leave, they helped us get a taxi and scheduled a time for pickup. It's was a nice experience and would go there again.

The location was great, close to the train station which was good. They are still renovating so there was lots of banging in the mornings and we had to get around all the ladders etc. We were glad to leave for the day and just come home in the evening to shower and sleep. We were quite cramped in the family room (five of us). The bathroom was too small and the shower recess was not deep enough so we always got the floor wet. The room was clean and the breakfast was adequate. The staff were very friendly and happy to help out if they could. Thankfully we only spent three nights there. We probably would not go back again.

My Husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in Aug 2012.
It is on the second floor of an old building, which is serviced by a very old lift from the 1920's
The location of the hotel was very good.
When we arrived the lady in reception apologized for the mess, as they were in the middle of renovating the corridors, which were stripped down to the cement on the floor and walls.
Our room (137) had a view of the back yard and very dark with peeling wall paper, I think it was the next room to get a face lift as on the morning we left a builder turned up to work on the room next door. Our friends stayed across the corridor from us and their room was newly refurbished, I think it was luck of the draw as to which room you got and we were the unlucky ones.
Breakfast was served between 7-9 am which was ok,
we booked a budget hotel and that was what we got, which was fine for a 3 night break, but no more.
