We took the train of FR2 from the Rome airport (FCO) to La Rustica for $8.00 per person ( Leonardo Express is $12 to Termini only). We checked Google Earth and it appeared that people can go through an industrial office building to access the hotel, however it is not accessible through the building complex. Therefore the only way to access the hotel will be a narrow road which you have to watch out for traffic.

The hotel is in the La Rustica area which is very close to the Train Station -La Rustica U.I.R. however it is not accessible directly from the train station. Also, there is no grocery or convenient store around.

The food menu is pretty standard but the breakfast is worth trying. Clean room, quiet location, friendly staff.

The biggest bonus of this hotel is that they offer $6.00 round trip shuttle from /to Rome Termini every day until 8:30 pm. However if you are arriving from the airport you should confirm with the hotel for pick up/drop off location and schedule first.

The Metro station "La Rustica" is currently under construction which should start the service in 2012.

Ideal hotel for visiting Rome and it's surroundings with car. There is a plenty of free parking space. Rebibbia metro station is only a few minutes car drive away, where you can park for 1,5 EUR/day. Metro takes less than 15 minutes from Rebibbia to Termini (1 EUR/fare). Rooms are covered with free WiFi signal, but during our visit there was a problem with connection stability. Brekfeats is Novotel standard, staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel offer shuttle bus to Termini station and back for 4 EUR/person but we never use it.

Novotel, La Rustica, is a nice, clean hotel but it is NOT located in central Rome. To travel into Rome, first, you will have a 10 - 15 minute walk from the hotel to La Rustica UIR station. Then you take the train to Tiburtina, approx 20-25 minute journey. From there you can access the underground. To travel into Termini station (main railway/tube staion in Rome) will take you a further 10 minutes (approx) on the Metro. Note, that the hotel is located just off a main highway and there are not any shops/restaurants around it. Breakfast at the hotel was good, if somewhat of a bun fight!!! Croissants, orange juice bread etc is gone as quickly as it is brought out, so get in fast!. They also seem to run out of plates and dishes very quickly!! Nice, comfortable room and very quiet.

We stayed in this hotel because we know that the rooms have 2 double beds and the breakfast is very nice. Everyday we used the hotel shuttle to bring us into Rome centre. The shuttle stops at the termini - it leaves at 9am and returns at 8.30 pm for 4 euro pp.
It's a good alternative if you do not want to spend a lot af money on very expensive hotel rooms.
The rooms ar very quiet and you have a good nights sleep.

It was either E1200 RO in central Rome or E700 B&B on the outskirts for a family of 5 for 4 nights so it made sense and I guess was ok for the money. The hotel is very well placed if you want a base and you are travelling outside of Rome too as it is right on the ring road. I use Novatel a lot and find they are all much the same so you kinda know what you are getting. This is clearly a transit hotel with coaches and large numbers coming and going. The rooms are fine - but the pillows are terrible - a major flaw for all Novatels actually. House keeping was ok but occassionally forgot to replace something - coffee, toilet tissue etc.
Breakfast is not great. Very limited selection which may be typical of Italy - not sure! I go the impression they just couldnt cope with a full house and were understaffed as many of the breakfast items were not topped up, tables left uncleared, slow to serve coffee and guests struggling to find tables set for them.
The restauarant and bar is a little airport lounge like so we ate out and used the bar for few drinks late on before we turned in.
We took the advice of another traveller and used the train station at Rebbibia - about 15 minutes drive away - which worked well but be warned parking is somewhat chaotic and we had to park a good 10 minute walk away on one occassion. So add that to the jouney time and it can take perhaps 45-50 minutes to get into central Rome. On the plus side its only E1 each each way but its too far from central Rome if you want to nip back for an hour or twos rest from the heat or pace.

A standard type Novotel hotel. It is a bit out of the way and not easy to get to but, it is very good for me as it is close to where I was working with my customers on Via Tiburtina.

Staff very helpful, good buffet breakfast, tea/coffee in the room and lots of free English channels on the TV.

Room, bathroom all very clean and fresh.
