“Good location, great service”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Our family stayed here for four nights in July. We had a room for four that was a little tight but we didn't spend much time in there. The A/C worked well which was very important because it was hot outside. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. There was wi-fi in the common areas and worked in the room but only if you were close to the window. Only a five minute walk to the metro stop. Breakfast was typically Italian, mostly pastries. We would have liked some meats or eggs. One day we bought a bottle of wine and brought it back to drink on the balcony, but we didn't have an opener. The staff person not only opened the bottle but let us use the house wine glasses. So much better than the plastic cups we were intending to use. When it was time to check out they called a cab to take us to the airport. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay at this interesting hotel. We booked on the recco of Rick Steve's and it turned out to be everything he wrote about. Our room was large, overlooking the road but surprisingly quiet. It's on the third floor up a very majestic staircase but the lift was a unique experience not to be missed - small but took 2 or 3 people plus 2 bags, OK. Breakfast was good - continental style & with excellent coffee. WiFi was good but a minimum of power sockets - had to use the bathroom stocket to recharge. The bathroom was small with an even smaller shower - quite adequate but needed a shelf in the shower. Airconditioner worked OK & was really appreciated after a hot Rome day. Didn't especially like Rome but the Oceania Hotel was lovely to come back to each evening!

We stayed at Oceania for 6 nights in July 2014 and were extremely pleased with the service and standard of the hotel. We were recommended here by another friend who had stayed here and have to say that our stay was ideal and was only let down by the internet not working at all in the rooms and also not working for one of the days in the foyer.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and very knowledgable about Rome. Beds were made daily and towels changed also. The twin room with two single beds we stayed in was quite a decent size for a hotel in Central Rome and the shower was clean with superb hot water and strong water pressure.

Breakfast served daily had a selection of sweet pastries and cakes (which I found odd for breakfast) but enjoyed it nonetheless. A good selection of coffee, tea and fruit juices each morning made for quite a satisfying start to the day.

I would definitely recommend Hotel Oceania if Internet isn't a big concern for you. While we didn't particularly enjoy Rome a whole heap, the hotel definitely made the stay a little more bearable.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, the rooms were big, well decorated and clean and the beds very comfortable. My only complaints are the wifi which didn't work in the rooms and barely worked in the rest of the hotel, and the breakfast which was very modest and not particularly good. The air conditioning in my room was great-very useful when visiting Rome in July.

Having stayed at the wonderful Hotel Aberdeen a few years back, we knew the location for this hotel, a half-block from the Aberdeen, would be great. We needed rooms that the Aberdeen could not accommodate, but as Rick Steve's recommends the Oceania, we went with it. The shower in one bathroom came down so powerfully it hurt, and in the other room, the temperature repeatedly cycled between chilly and scalding. If you paid attention, you could feel the pressure drop a tad before the scald and step away, but it was ridiculous. The hotel provides a tube of stuff that is supposed to work as both soap and shampoo, which is lame. And the shower had no shelf, so you had to hold the tube the entire time you showered. The wi-fi did not work at all for two of the three nights we were there, and barely on the third. On the other hand, the staff moved heaven and earth to get our air conditioner working when it failed, and the breakfast room has the best coffee set up we encountered, with pitchers of espresso and whipped milk being placed on the tables.

We booked here in an emergency after finding the hotel we had originally booked at was located quite far out of the city center. The hotel is excellent, very authentic and classic interiors. We enjoyed the patio area in the evenings after exploring the city during the day. The hotel is located in a very central area making it easy to walk to the main attractions in Rome. The breakfast was good and the staff were helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend staying here at Hotel Oceania.

Hotel is in an old building and a bit difficult to lug suitcases up the front stairs and use the antique lift. Room was quite large, could do with a table and chair in the sitting area for those of us that find it difficult to sit in soft lounges. It is in a good location to restaurants and walking distance to Trevi fountain and Spanish steps. Staff are friendly and helpful and continental breakfast was adequate for our needs as we are not big eaters.
