“Great hotel away fro hustle & bustle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

What a great hotel while not in the centre is well within walking distance to everything.
Had 2 stays here this week 3 nights the trip to a Sorrento then 1 night before flight out.
Room are big for Rome, bathrooms great size some with jacuzzi's.
Aircon packet up one night some they transferred us up the roan to the more upmarket San Enselmo.
Staff are what makes this place seem almost 5 star they cannot do enough for you.
Breakfast is very good with everything you could need..
Best part is the area and grounds an oasis in a city of bedlam
Was great to come Back to the relaxing Aventine.
We are both in our 60's and my wife hurt here knee but was still close enough to walk to the Trevi, piazza Navone, and most of the other Rome sights, as the day we arrived was Republic day and most of the city centre was closed for traffic.
All in all this is a wonderful hotel.

This was an amazing hotel to stay at. The staff was great. The rooms were huge and the bathroom was amazing. It was within walking distance of the Coloseo and other great places. The breakfast was also really good.

It was a really comfortable room and I would definitely stay there again without reservation.

However, the reason I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the wifi, while free, was not very good at all. It continuously cut out or was super slow. When you are there for business you really need to have this available to you at a speed you can actually do work with.

Other than that the place was great and I would recommend to everyone.

Dear guest,
thank you very much for sharing your review with other travellers and thank you for your compliments about the staff, the hotel and the location!
I am really sorry for the inconvenience you had with the wi-fi, but unfortunately the roman communications system has interference problems due to the high profile political visitors during the week of your stay!
We are all looking forward for you next visit!

Beautiful décor and setting on the Aventine Hill. Very friendly staff and free Wi-Fi on hotel computer.
Nice restaurants nearby in Testaccio area and only a few minutes walk from the Palatine Hill, metro and other sites.
Less than 5 minutes walk to glorious 5th century church called Ste Sabina with great view of St Peters.

We were very impressed with the room (size, cleanliness, windows), bathroom (clean, well appointed), staff, breakfast (very good variety and quantity), location (very quiet neighborhood, 15 minute walk from Ancient Rome sites, about 10 minute walk from some nice restaurants). This was the hotel we liked best during our 3 week tour of Italy.
A special note, ask for a room with a terrace, this was very nice after a long day of touring around.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace, this was very nice after a long day of touring around

Stayed in April when the weather was excellent and was lucky enough to be given a room upgrade. The bedroom area was huge and the bathroom a good size too. There was a jacuzzi-bath ( although we couldn't get the jacuzzi bit workng) and a good shower. I suppose some really picky people might have moaned at the slightly old grout around the shower or the mirror that was losing its lustre but this didn't matter to us. All part of the charm of the beautiful period furniture and general air of serenity at the hotel. Excellent selection for breakfast and enjoyed eating in the conservatory area and having afternoon coffee in the shady garden.
Maximum of 15 minute walk downhill to the colusseum passing circus maximum and Palatine on the way. Turning left or right out of the hotel it was only 5 mins to nearest bus or subway station. Within 10 mins walk were plenty of simple pleasant restaurants and a few minutes more for an even bigger selection . One of the pleasures of Rome is walking around and we certainly did this in the knowledge that we had our little oasis of calm to return to at night.
I am travelling to Rome again in August with teenage children and will be staying at the sister hotel Aventino which is just around the corner. In April the San Pio was cheaper and in August the Aventino is. The rooms there were a litttle smaller but obviously we had been spoilt with our upgrade. The overall standard seemed very high at both and staff were very helpful.
If you need a taxi to central station it is about 15 Euro largely because the taxi has to take the long way to avoid all of the monument areas where cars aren't allowed. If you don't have much luggage then just a few euro on the rather crowded underground is probably quicker and easier.
Finally if you want to get a car from the airport to the hotel there are private companies that will take you for about 48 Euro. On our return we took the bus from the station and this was only about 10 euro each. Much cheaper than the Leonardo express train.
All in all the hotel is a great find in a slightly out of the way location but worth it if you take your walking shoes.

My wife and I honeymooned here last August. Lovely hotel hidden away in the back streets of Rome in a nice quiet area. the room was plenty big enough for us, the included breakfast was not bad (they just don't know how to do a proper fry up on the continent!) but there was plenty of fresh fruit and of course the standard continental breakfast. We never had an evening meal there so i can't comment on the quality of dinners.

good location, 10 minute walk from the nearest metro. Nice relaxing leafy garden areas.

Particularly wanted to mention one of the staff: Agapito - he was one of the friendliest people we met during our stay in Rome, he always had a smile on his face, he gave us tips on the best places to eat in the city and the best way to deal with haggling taxi drivers etc, and went far and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had a great honeymoon.

Beautiful little hotel, in one of Rome's most quaint neighborhoods. Spacious rooms/bathroom. Staff was extremely helpful. It was like a little oasis in the middle of the most amazing city. We spent 3 wonderful nights there and will definitely go back the next time. Thank you all!
