“Good food, a little bit on the fancy side”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

A little bit different from other restaurants I tried in Rome, the interior is in the minimalistic style. The waiter was very friendly. The food was good. I prefer though something more authentic.

“Best food I have ever eaten !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

We visited Rome for our 25th wedding anniversary in May and this restaurant was close to our hotel. The welcome was warm, and i can honestly say that this was the best food I have ever eaten. It was €120 for 3 courses each (2 of us) and drinks, but it was special !!
If you are in Rome and want a great meal I this has to be top of your list ...

“Overpriced, dishes mediocre”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

We had dinner here on a Wednesday night. The place was deserted apart from 2 business men. For starters, we had prosciutto with mozarella, which was fine, but not special with regard to taste. Just a lot of (very good) ham with a bit of (very good) buffalo mozarella. I think 14 Euros is not too much for this starter, but I would have expected a bit more in the sense of taste balance.

The wine we had was a Viognier, which was very good.

Main dishes: my girl friend had a dish with melanzane (eggplant), reasonably priced. Taste not very sophisticated. I had the tenderloin steak. We had to pay 3 Euros extra just to get a sauce with it. The steak itself was not the quality I expected. Almost overcooked (I wasn't asked how I wanted it), not very tender. As a side dish, the potato crisps (although freshly made, they called them chips though) were one third perfect, one third overcooked, and one third mushy. They put it down to a different type of potatoes, because the usual ones were finished. Staff apologized, and the crisps were not on the bill.

For dessert, my girl friend had a chocolate cake, which was heated in the microwave. The cream that came with it was not fresh either. The cake was very dry. We were wondering why they hadn't made it a moulleux, which would have made it so much better.

The crema catalana I had, bore no resemblance to a real one, except for the top layer (caramelized sugar) and the colour. It tasted like flowers (like in a cleaning agent).

Finally, the staff put bread on our table. No mention of it not being complimentary (which is normal in almost every restaurant I have been in). I'm willing to overlook this, if it weren't for the fact that they took away the first tray when there was still bread on it and then replaced it. BOTH times we were charged for the bread (4 Euros).

All in all: I would suggest to the restaurant they lower prices, or find a way to deliver the quality for the prices they charge. In our opinion, the cook who was in the kitchen in other reviews was either on holiday or didn't have a good night. He didn't do anything with fresh herbs or seasoning. And please: don't charge for bread if you put it on the table unasked. Next time I would rather eat at Goose, which is just around the corner and much cheaper for good quality fresh food.

cordiali saluti

“Great Food, Not So Good Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2014

Food is great. You should definitely try the Scampi Cream Risotto, which is one of the best risottos I've ever tried. Their interpretation of Parmiggiana is also great. Very good wine list with very affordable prices. The only minus is a service: one waiter cannot handle ten tables, with the help of the owner interested only in tables with people he knows. But anyway: it's all worth it, beacause of that perfect creamy risotto.

A little gem near Vatican but far enough from it to be a tourist trap. We had a mixed salad, which was perfect, with very sweet fresh cherry tomatoes and tasty vinegar that you can add yourself. The seafood risotto was one of the best meals I've ever had. Reasonable prices, good service, good wine (if you don't want a whole bottle, they have Chianti per glass). Definitely a place to return to.
