Wonderful friendly staff. Room immaculate and upgraded without asking as there were rooms free. Only negative is that the lift goes to a mezzanine floor and carrying case back to it on departure is difficult. The area is fantastic just like a village at the centre of Rome. It is near to the Station and the Colleseum.

The hotel is in a great location for anyone arriving by train. 5 minute walk all down hill from the main Train station. The hotel is on a side street making it nice and quite in the evenings. The rooms are small but normal for Rome and very warm. The TV had no English channels but 2 complementary free wifi passes for 2 devices solved that problem. The wifi was fast and worked fine. Breakfast is the normal mix of dishes, something for everyone but served with a smile by very friendly staff. Tea, coffee and espresso are available 24 hours in the lobby. There are so many great little restaurants in the surrounding streets only minutes from the hotel. A fantastic Jazz wine bar with live music just on the next street corner. Ask at reception for it. You won't be disappointed. We stayed for 7 days and would return. We meet many different staff and they all went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

Dear Oisin M,

Yes, Raffaello's position is one of its strenght points: not only close to Termini, Rome's main train station, but close to both subway lines - A and B - as well as less than a mile away from the Coliseum...

As for our kindness, well that, with all the lack of modesty I can be capable of (and I can do my best regarding this... :) ), it is one of our strenght points, as well... :)

As about the English language TV channels, ...well...why didn't you ask us anything?! We would have told you you simply needed to go backwards with the channel searcher...there are plenty of English channels... but glad to hear the wi-fi compensated... :)

Hoping you will consider a new visit in the Eternal City here soon, we wish you a serene return home, and we send you our warmest regards!

My wife and I spent 16 days in Italy which we travelled through 5 cities. Hotel Rafaello left the deepest impression on us.

The service rendered was superb and we felt very very welcome. The staff there were professional but not cold. They were always ready to help. Rooms were clean, it was quiet outside and you could even have access to hot water for coffee and tea late at night!

As with all hotels, there is bound to be some points which are not up to mark. For Rafaello, it was a 5 - 8 minute walk from the train station and the shower in the room is relatively cramped. The lift serves every mid floor (ie: if your room was at the 2nd floor, you will take the lift to the 3rd floor and descend half a level)

HOWEVER, the service, the smiles, the helpfulness, the comfortable room and the nice little sweets left for you to wish you a good night MORE THAN made up for the little inconveniences above.

We just regretted that, in our haste to rush to the airport, we forgot to leave a tip. We will most certainly do so when we return!

Keep up the good work Rafaello! Grazie!

Dear AlvinVicky,

No worrries for the tip, but please, do come back as soon as possible! :)

It was a pleasure for us, as well, to have you here, and we can only be glad to hear we were able to make your stay here such a pleasant one. At the end of the day, we haven't done anything more than we would normally do on regular basis...

As for the elevator inconvenience, it is a structure porblem, and I am afraid it cannot be solved: Raffaello's edifice was built in 1882, the elevator was added a lot of years after, and apparently it was the only possible solution. Romantic style structures in the middle of historic parts of Rome, such as Raffaello, don't even have one...

Hoping you will renew your visit as soon as possible, we wish you a serene welcome back home, and...best of wishes!
Regards,
Elena

We have stayed 4 nights in Hotel Rafaello in Rome during our Italy trip. We are a family of 4 and we absolutely loved our stay in Hotel Rafaello. The location is ideal for walking to major tourist attractions and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. We had quadruple family room and it was spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good and had complimentary tea/coffee after our returns to hotel. Walking distance to termini station as well. Quite nice, cozy, clean and tidy city hotel...

My wife and I traveled in Italy for 2 wks. By far this was the Best Hotel we stayed at. From the minute we walked in the front door, we knew we going to enjoy our last few days in Roma. The room was perfect, clean and Large. My wife loved the pillow selection. The front desk check in was seemless. The concierge was perfect in her advise. She ( Elena) was drawing places not on the map. The 11 century church built on top of a 4th century church built on top of a 1 century structure ( that sill had running water) was incredible. The wood fired pizza was one of our best meals. All in All you would be a fool to stay anywhere else. From top to bottom one word OUTSTANDING

For a family trip to Rome during Holy Week 2014, we had a group of 7 traveling together. The Raffaello was extremely clean (even bathroom floor corners --- I have a sister who checks these things) and the houskeeping staff were very cheerful. The hotel has a 24 hour coffee service on the ground floor next to a house computer with complimentary internet service. The overnight desk attendant is great company if you suffer from jet lag and spend odd hours at the coffee/computer area! Breakfast was included in the price of our rooms and has eggs, (my sister said these were the best she ever tasted), cheese, pastries, toast, fresh fruit, cereal and things like that. After the first day, the women serving coffee and tea remembered our preferences. We were a demanding group and the staff was patient at all times. My niece had her 17th birthday during our trip and Elena arranged for a local restaurant to serve a special dinner including a birthday cake. Elena also arranged a complicated three leg pick up and drop off with a local van company for Easter Sunday. When we had an issue finding the driver at St. Peter's Square after Easter Mass because a road was blocked, the hotel staff kindly coordinated our communication. The beds were comfortable. The elevator is very small, but taking the stairs was good exercise for me. I've seen other reviews complain about the layout of the bathrooms and small showers. We had 4 separate rooms --- with bathrooms that were all fine. But pictures don't lie, so there must be at least a few rooms with a poor bathroom layout. We had a "Superior Room" with a terrace that was well worth the extra cost. I saw a post of a very depressing view looking at an inside wall -- our "Family Room" (double bed and two single beds) had that same view but there are very nice thick curtains so we didn't even notice the depressing view until the third day. If you want a good view, get a Superior Room with a terrace. I saw someone say that the staff don't like Americans. We were a group of 7 --- so American that we could have been in a sitcom -- and all of the staff treated us with the most generous hospitality.
