“Great Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This place is in a great location. Walking distance to Rome center and Termini Station. So convenient. Host was very nice, spoke little English but her daughter did speak English and was able to explain everything. I rented a room with a private bathroom. The bathroom was across the hall. The room was very nice and clean. So was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. The place is in a condo building. So when you first get there it is not in a obvious spot. You have to get buzzed in and go to the 2nd floor.

The breakfast included in the package is a bit disappointing. They give you a coupon to a coffee shop across the street called Panella. The coupon includes only a croissant and a latte/cappuccino. The coupon is worth 3 Euros. You are suppose to go to the coffee shop and get to the self service section and make your order. The people there (if they sense you have no clue) will try to take advantage of you. That is how i ended up getting a 15 Euro bill for a glass of orange juice and 2 croissants. So be careful there. Other than that the place is great, people are nice, and it is in a superb location.

“Best solution for short stays in Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2012 for a stay in September 2012

I have started to go to Casa di Via del Mecenate in 2011 after trying other places in Rome and after the first time I had to search no more. Both Aurora and Simonetta are the best owners you could dream of, courteous, helpful and discrete. The place is elegant with furniture of very good taste. The bed is extremely comfortable. The TV works well and the wi-fi internet connection is free. The location is great, one of the most interesting and diverse areas of Rome, full of nice little restaurants. Strategically located close to A and B subway lines or Tram nr 3. Monti (top aperitivo area in Rome) is 10 minutes walk and you can reach the colosseum by walking through colle oppio, the best view you can get of the arena. I think it should cost more compared to other places I have been.

“B&B is a misnomer more like boardinghouse”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

My family and I stayed here the weekend of September 16 and 17. It was my understanding that each bedroom had a private bath, this is not the case, only one of the bedrooms has a private bath. The two other bedrooms have their bathrooms across the hall which is not what was described. There was also another person staying in the third bedroom who was not part of my family which we found strange.
This B&B seems like someone is living there when not rented out, as there was laundry hanging in the kitchen?
Additionally you had to walk a half a block for your breakfast to a place called Panella, where you could have coffee and a crossiant.
On the positive side the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and the bed comfortable. Good location easy walking distance to the main city center sights.

Management Response
21 Sep 2012
I do remember this american guests, I made them the favor to book all their dinners at different resaurants, and to use the kitchen. I'm sorry of this misunderstanding and I thank them to give me the chance to explaine what a b&b is, by law, in Italy: a private apartment, where a family HAVE TO live and can rent, if authorized by licence, one or more rooms. Regarding breakfast, we give our guests the opportunity to have it in one of the best place of this area: an historical bakery- caffe and bistrot called Panella, at the time they prefere. At Panella we offer to each guest one cappuccino and one croissant filled in with cream or marmalade, that's what a roman it for breakfast. If the weather is good is very pleasant to have it sitten at the tables outside in the small square. In each room there is also everything you need to prepare a coffe or tea with biscuittes as well. The 2 rooms we rent (the third is my parent's room, the owner's) have their own bathroom: the one called "Romantica" has it inside, the one called "Anni'50" has it in the corridor, my family has his own. When no one of my family is in Rome we can also rent the apartment, with 1,2 or 3 bedrooms and 1,2 or 3 bathroom depending on the demand. Everybody is wellcome and we are always ready to help.
