“The home away from home”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Costanza is wonderful. It is a cozy, peaceful flat with a home-like atmosphere and the friendliest people. Not staff, they are like your friends who want make sure you are comfortable and just enjoy. The breakfast is tasty and rich and location is optimal. With good tram and bus connections, and the Trastevere train station (Fiumicino Airport) just around the corner.

Trastevere is the nicest and most intimate place for relaxing walks and the excellent food. Don't miss the lively Carlo Menta restaurant near Sonnino Place. It serves delicious Italian dishes and has the best price/quality -ratio in Rome. Even the 10/13 € menu is very good.

The shared bathroom is not a problem at all. The interior is very interesting... and there is a lot of it around.

Room Tip: All 3 rooms are small, just choose between a queen or separate beds.

We booked a room at Costanza but because of some problems they changed our booking to Giancarlo, which is run by another family member and is just 3 minutes away from Costanza. It was amazing. It's a small B&B, but the room was big, bright and clean, breakfast was good, the staff friendly and helpful and the location about 15 minutes walk from "old" Rome. The area is full of restaurants that are much cheaper than the ones on the other side of the TIber and they are just as good. The busstop to Roma Termini (trainstation) is closeby. Will stay here again.

We stayed in July 2013 for two nights. When we arrived to the hotel after a 4+ hour journey from the Amalfi coast, we took a cab to the address listed in the confirmation emails we received. We rang the doorbell, and a man came down to greet us and let us know the hotel was a ten minute walk. We are pretty laid back, so, fine, but a little heads up would have been nice. No where in the emails we received did it say that the point of check in is in a different location from the actual hotel itself, and to expect a ten minute walk with all of our bags after we "check in". I was not annoyed until the man walking us to our hotel did not offer once to help us with our bags. I was clearly struggling with mine, having to stop twice on the walk to readjust, all while he just watched, bagless, and continued smoking his cigarette. It would have been nice for them to show a little more appreciation for their customers.

The hotel itself was fine. It had everything we needed, except air conditioning or even a fan, which was disappointing in the 95 degree heat. But, it was a good value for the price. We did not have our own bathroom. There was one bathroom in our hallway which was a communal bathroom shared by three bedrooms. We ended up being the only couple in the entire hotel, so we did not have to share anyway.

The complimentary breakfast was apparently at a cafe across the street, but we never found it (admittedly, we never looked too hard for it). And we never saw anyone who worked for the hotel after that walk when we arrived. I probably wouldn't recommend this place.

Room Tip: Don't stay here in the summer

We had a fabulous stay at Costanza a Trastevere Feltre 1. The rooms were clean, charming, and I felt so safe. The staff immediately made us feel welcome and truly cared about our stay. They arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport and took us directly to the hostel where we were checked in with ease. The breakfasts were great: espresso, steamed milk, tea, juice, toast, yogurt, and the best part, homemade breakfast breads.
A previous review mentions a problem with a shower--I had none!
The building is in a great location, right of Villa Trastevere where the tram lines are located. It is also an incredibly well maintained and safe building with a beautiful court yard. Our stay exceeded all of my expectations and I think it is an incredible value for the cost. Highly recommend.

This B&B is located very conveniently in a very well kept and pretty building in Trastevere, only metres from the bus H stop which comes from Roma Termini. We'd booked a double room with private bathroom but instead of an ensuite, we were advised that we had private access to one of the bathrooms which are located in the common area. The bathrooms were very clean and modern, however the shower (in the smaller one) was impossible to use - the water would continually change from extremely hot to extremely cold, so you had literally 5 seconds during the transition to wash yourself. Otherwise, our stay was great - the room was furnished beautifully, and the floor which contains about 3-4 other rooms was modern and very clean. Breakfast was prepared at a pre-appointed time with tea/coffee, toast, cereal and croissants. A selection of fruit would have been a welcome addition. By this time, I was beginning to realise that Italians don't use kettles in their kitchens but this would have been useful to quickly boil water for tea. You can hear everything happening in the common area from the bedroom but there was only one other medium-term resident staying there during our visit. On the whole, a good, clean and convenient option for a stay in Trastevere.
