My wife and I recently travelled to Rome and stayed at this small, but friendly B&B. First off, even though it is a 2 bed apartment, it still provides everything you need from a reasonably priced city B&B. The breakfast is perfectly adequate for a city break as the picture shows. For example, most mornings we had cereal, coffee, juice, croissant, yoghurt, toast and/or a small range of pastry goods. It doesn't offer hot food - like a full English- but it's enough to get you going.
We were impressed by the vintage style lobby, staircase, lift area, as well as the rooftop which provides a lovely view of the city and is easily accessed.
We were greeted enthusiastically by Manuela, who even though doesn't speak great English, was the perfect host, ensuring the air conditioning worked and providing us with an iron when asked.
The room was decorated to a good standard and had nice finishing touches. We had the room with the en-suite which had a small, but powerful shower and everything else you need, including a hair dryer. The sound-proofing isn't the best, however, it didn't disturb us too much.
Most of all, one of the best selling points of this B&B is its location. We walked everywhere and it only took about 45 mins to get to the Ancient Rome area. The hotel is located only a 5 minute walk from St Peter's Basilica, square and the Vatican- we loved this! Furthermore, we found a reliable, tasty and reasonably priced restaurant round the back of hotel called, 'The Amalfi' which served good authentic food and a tasty house red. All in all, we'd definitely go back and recommend to others.

Room Tip: Ask about the air conditioning when you get there - it's not automatically on.

I had a bad experience in not cancelling the reservation in this hotel made in July 22nd, 2013, for check in at February 27th, 2014. Between the reservation and the trip, there were no communication between us. I didn't travel and I was charged in the total of the amount. Why didn't I cancel? I made the reservation directly, and not through a specialized site, as Trip Advisor. And, after the first email from Colors, there was no other contact between us.

Room Tip: Pay attention in your reservations!

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a 2 nights stay here. We were in the room with the ensuite, quite spacious, acceptable for a b&b. The walls were very thin and our first night we could here our very loud neighbours, and when in bathroom it felt like they were literally in the room with you. Bathroom was nice and clean though, only thing was the shower fitting didn't sit right on the wall and the shower doors were a bit hard to shut and kept coming off the rail. These things did not make our stay at all bad, it's just little things we picked up on.

Breakfast was nice, just a few bits of toast and packet croissants. Manuela the b&b owner making coffees was nice.

Manuela didn't speak much English at all so if there were any big issues I'm not sure how this would work. But she was very lovely and helpful with recommending places to visit and restaurants to go to.

The b&b is in a very good tourist location, right outside the Vatican. And on the corner of a piazza with lots of restaurants and cafés. Would definitely recommend getting a bus pass for one of the tourist buses, we used rome cristiano yellow bus, it would of made it much more hassle to get around rome if we didn't go on the bus as it takes you to all the main tourism places and you get to see loads of rome whilst on the bus as well. They run every 15 mins as well so very good service.

All in all, no complaints really. It was all you could expect from a b&b nice clean room/bed and nice breakfast.

The previous reviewer got it right, there is nothing luxurious about this place as the name suggests.

Rooms: Both rooms were sizeable BUT only one room has an attached bathroom. The other which I was initially in, has a bathroom next door. I really did not like this as you go through the hallway by the other room and sitting room to get to it, so there was no privacy. At the very least I should have been informed of this when booking. I was later moved to the other room when I was vacated which was bigger and had the attached bathroom. I didn't appreciate the hassle BUT Manuela very kindly moved everything over for me. My last night in the bigger room, the other room was occupied and every time they flushed the toilet at night the surprisingly loud noise would wake me up. It's not far from the main road so if you're a light sleeper, even with the windows closed this might not be the ideal choice for you as there is traffic through the night.

Host: Very little English was spoken however she was very friendly, helpful and sweet in her own way. No complains there.

Cleanliness: Very clean

Location: Easy to get to from Fiumicino Airport via the shuttle bus that stops about 8minutes from the B&B. The location is great IF you're looking to stay as close to the Vatican as possible. Otherwise it's a minimum of a 25 minute walk, likely more, to get to any of the other attractions in the city. There is a bus you can catch from closeby but I didn't bother. There is also a Metro stop about a 5 minute walk away but Rome is not well connected by the Metro at all.

Breakfast: Absymal, no other way to put it. Everything came in packets, even the super dry croissants. Selection of prepackaged biscuits and wafers provided. The same half eaten cakes were sitting there when I arrived and when I left 5 days later. Only positive was the hot coffee and fruit. At GBP 77pp at night, it was quite frankly unacceptable.

All in all, for the price I was rather disappointed.

Room Tip: Make sure to specify that you want the room with the attached bathroom if that's your preference...

The location is perfect for visiting the Vatican etc although the building is a little difficult to find and quite a walk from the airport shuttle bus drop off point. The staff are friendly and helpful even though very little English is spoken, the room was clean but the breakfast is very basic with no fresh bread or croissants supplied, only plastic packed versions. There are plenty of shops and eating establishment around

Room Tip: Ask for the one with the en-suite

The location is perfect for tourists as the hotel is literally a few minutes away from San Pietro Vaticano and other tourist attractions. The hotel room is clean and comfortable enough to rest after a tiring day of strolling around the city. The room also includes free amenities like biscuits, coffee, tea and internet connection. The lady who greeted us when we arrived is very welcoming and she takes care of us very well. She even gave us tickets for the Papal mass for free. Overall, colors luxury inn is perfect for everyone. We'll definitely come back.

The apartment is on the 6th floor in the building. As the other reviews have said, the lift looks slightly forboding, but it is actually the smoothest lift that myself and my boyfriend have ever been in (plus, I wouldn't fancy walking up the stairs to the 6th floor!). The lady who greeted us and looked after us for the duration of our stay was so welcoming and lovely. She gave us a map of the area and very kindly organised our airport transfer back to Ciampino for us. She is very felxible about breakfast (we had to leave at 6.30am so she left all breakfast out for us so we could help ourselves). Our room was the grey/silver one in the photos. Brilliant modern room, lovely decor - really quirky biscuit jar. The bathroom is seperate for this room, but is only for the use of that room and is literally next door - they provide lovely cotton gowns for you to wear. I believe that there was only one other couple staying in the apartment, and we are unsure of how many rooms, but certainly no more than 3/4! Fabulous location (5 min walk to Vatican in one direction, 5 min walk to metro station in other direction). Cannot fault this place at all. Perfect. :)
