Hotel Concordia

Reviewed 29 September 2013

breakfast rooftop was nice, and breakfast was typical Italian hotel breakfast + more (eg toast)

room was typical European, small but adequate as long as you used the cupboards and stowed your suitcase away (ie not enough floor space to leave 2 open suitcases throughout the stay).
they provided enough cupboard + hanging space though for this to occur however so that was fine.

bathroom that two could share easily, we've seen some pokey bathrooms in Italy but this was big in comparison.

good location a few mins from Spanish steps, a multitude of good restaurants in walking distance but note it is a tourist area and you'll pay a premium to eat in nearby restaurants. mcdonalds and mcafe 2 mins walk away for good cheap snacks when the wallet needed a rest.

the staff were okay but not overly friendly, not bad but just a bit cold and indifferent. eg most hotels in Italy you are greeted warmly and smiled at every time you see a staff member, here they mostly just ignore you and avoid eye contact, so you don't get that vibe that you are a valued guest. I know that seems like a small thing but in a foreign country when you are out of your comfort zone already, it's the accumulation of small bad-vibe experiences that end up ruining your holiday, so getting a cold personality vibe from hotel staff doesn't help.

the room was a touch noisy. we've stayed at other hotels that face noisy streets and they have solved the problem with double glazing

the room was well cleaned and tidied each day, lots of fresh toilet paper, towels, soap and shampoo.

the air conditioning was a bit underpowered, just enough for September, can't see it working in summer.

wifi was horrible in terms of consistency, seemed to stop working for about 3 mins out of every 15. it was fine when it worked ie fast enough and everything but just frustrating to use as you were never far away from inexplicable time-outs and web page errors.

Our room was on the fifth floor , there was a spiral staircase or an elevator the sizeof a phone booth. The air worked but not the greatest it was still warm in our room, the breakfast is average. The staff was friendly and called taxi for us and helped with airport transportation etc. The rooms were clean and plenty of wardrobe space on both sides of the bed. Would stay here again.

Location is so good, hard to complain about anything!

Roof terrace was wonderful and overlooked the city a bit. Lots of plants and seating to enjoy some wine and soak in the view of the city. View was good even though it overlooks the street. Service was good. Room was dates but comfortable with enough space for two people. Had some extra storage in the room that was nice.

Bathroom was very strange but very clean even though every time we flushed the toilet we got sprinkled with water from above. Not dirty water or anything but it was a gravity system that had a tank high on the wall that splashed a bit. Shower was small but still ok. Was really clean and up to date.

Elevator is tiny but new and worked well. Location is great, right next to food, Spanish Steps, Trevi and a whole bunch of other attractions.

There are more up-to-date hotels but the location is the key thing here. We decided to get take the experience of staying in an older building to really get the feel of things. Would do it again, we spent a very little amount of time in the room and the service was great!

Room Tip: Upgrade the room, the biggest is still small.

My wife and I have just returned from a short break to Rome and stayed at the Hotel Concordia. It is 4 mins walking away from the Spanish steps and 10 mins from the Trevi Fountin. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in had plenty of room around the bed, a small wardrobe on either side, a TV and a small fridge. The room was clean airy and very comfortable .It also had air con. The bathroom was large and we had a very good power shower with plenty of hot water both morning and evening. The breakfast is continental inc breads hams cheeses yoghurts boiled eggs tea and coffee fruit juice cereals and is served on the rooftop terrace. they evn booked us a return Taxi for the trip back to the airport

The location of this hotel is A+, you couldn't be better located. Two minute walk to the top of the Spanish steps, and the Trevi fountain, Pantheon, Roman Forum all within easy walking distance. The rooms are small, you could just walk around the bed in our double room, but you get all you need, good bathroom, flat screen TV (not that you'd ever watch it) room safe plenty of wardrobe space and quite possibly the smallest lift in the world! The staff are very friendly and are knowledgeable and spoke good English. The breakfast fills a hole in the morning with good coffee, ( you have to ask if you want espresso or cappuccino ) A good couple of restaurants directly opposite but a little pricey and if you need a ATM, there's one just 50 yards up the road.

My only gripe about the place is the quality of the bed. It may be a personal thing but both me and my partner found the bed a bit uncomfortable and the church bells ring at 0700! be warned they are a fantastic alarm clock.

If you just need a bed for the night and something in the morning to get you going, you're on to a winner if you stayed here.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 204, at the front of the hotel, noisy street during the day. If you're no good...

Great hotel, great staff and location. Costs 55 euro for private car pick up from airport.
We came in to Rome from Marrakech. Royal air marok airlines is terrible in numerous respects, but they failed to
Deliver our bags. Hotel Concordia received them a day later and was very helpful.
Rooms are small for US standards but clean and functional. 10 euro can fare to Sistine chapel. Love Rome, great hotel.
