“Across the street from the Vatican.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

If you want to be by the Vatican, stay here.
It is literally across the street from the Vatican Museum entrance.
To go to St. Peter's Square takes about five minutes, just follow wall from museum to the square.
It is between two metro stops on the red line. Ottaviano metro stop was our choice. It is four blocks from the hotel. Day and night, we felt safe walking the area.

Rooms: Huge for Europe. Huge.
Tile throughout room and bath.
Room/bath clean.
Bath: Bring your toiletries. Don't think American hotels. Bring everything you need. (Hair dryer is only item in bath.)
Towels: Really good shape (not hotel worn). Note for Americans, know that you will not get wash clothes in Italy. Anywhere.
For the Brits: There is no kettle in the room.
Frig: In room. Good size. Empty so you can use (not a minibar). It actually has a few drinks in it to start for free. Like six drinks. Nice touch in case you arrive late and need something cold that night or to start the next morning right out of bed.
Noise: We were on opposite side from Vatican so noise not an issue. You do hear through the windows. If light sleeper, request this side of hotel.
WIFI in room: Okay.
Breakfast: Left before started although they pulled us croissants and coffee early to go!
Staff: All encountered super nice and extremely helpful with great attitudes. Big plus.

This is not a luxurious hotel. Bare actually. Clean. Simple needs covered to sleep and bath. The hotel wins on location. Hands down.

Great value for large, clean room with WIFI, breakfast, wonderful staff & the Vatican next door.

I accidentally booked this hotel for the night when we are actually taking our overnight flight from newark to rome and the hotel manager was so kind and understanding and didn't charge us as a now show which would have been an extra 300 euros. The room was very spacious with very high ceilings and an awesome terrace. It was a 30 second walk to the line for the Vatican museum and was 4 blocks to the Metro (A line which runs across all the major sites in room). Near lots of fun restaurants and a really cool area for nightlife near the river. On top of that my wife fell and bruised her knee real bad when running to the Leandro Express at the airport and the manager was so kind and gave us lots of ice so she could ice her knees.

Stayed in March at the Hearth Hotel. Very helpful friendly staff. Very clean rooms well decorated. Only downside, was it was quite noisy as it was near the entrance to the vatican, which is on a main road but you can't have everything!

Writing this review on our 6th of 7 nights here. The staff is friendly, helpful and full of good ideas for touring and eating. Knowledgeable. At checking we were given a map and a short, but thorough explanation of walks and places to visit.
The location was convenient ...steps to Vatican Museum. A couple blocks to subway and St. Peter's. Safe walking. Laundry nearby, also good local restaurants.
Our room was comfortable, but somewhat noisy with traffic outside.

The hotel itself was very attractive and well kept. The rooms had pleasant, comfortable beds and nicely tiled bathroom that was very clean. The windows were perfect - we had a view of the Vatican, but could not hear the crowds or traffic. Breakfast was well maintained and offered a good selection of (typical) European morning foods.

However, our particular room had a signficant problem with heat control. Although it was the middle of March, we began sweating the second we walked in. The floor had hot spots, leading me to believe that we must be located on top of a boiler or other heating element. When the air conditioning would not function, we were told by the front desk to "reset the breaker". When that action did not work, we were told (5-minutes later) that they had purposefully turned off the AC to conserve power, but would resume AC in the evening. I do not understand why we received the inconsistent messages. We never did get heat relief, it was extremely noisy with open windows, and so we spent the entire night sweating on top of our sheets. I can not begin to imagine experiencing that room in the warmer summer months!!

We also received confusing advice regarding the car service. The night before our flight, we inquired about using the service the to reach the airport the next morning. We were told by the front desk that it would be "no problem" and to just "ask in the morning". First thing the following morning (several hours before the car was needed), we again asked about the car service and were told "it's too late now". We were able to call a taxi instead, but I do not understand why this simple guidance was not consistent.

Room Tip: Room 103 does not have good heat control

Chose to book The Hearth of our first trip to Rome following excellent reviews. Everything about it was great from start to finish. Picked up by their car service, on time nice Merc E class, friendly driver with good English. Reception and welcome perfect. Breakfast really nice continental selection. Room was brilliant, good bathroom, very comfortable bed and great wifi. For us the best bit was the terrace. We paid a bit extra for a room with a terrace and got rm 307 which has a huge terrace. It was like having our own space in the middle of Rome! Neighbourhood is great but be careful on the Metro!!

We loved the Hearth and recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the Prati neighbourhood near the Vatican

Room Tip: 307 has really nice terrace

Very clean and spacious room. Nice breakfast every morning. Staff super helpful. Best wifi connection I have ever experienced out of all the hotels I stayed in Europe. You can definitely tell the difference especially if you upload your puctures to the cloud from your iphone/ipad. Great location! Got to Vatican Museum in less than 5 minutes. We walked to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona from hotel a couple times. This hotel will be where we stay when in Rome again. Try it! You will not be disappointed!
