This place is in the heart of Trastevere and when you search for restaurants in the area, it immediately pops up (4.5 stars, 12,000+ reviews on TripAdvisor). My mom I were famished from a travelling day from the Amalfi Coast and saw the number of reviews and decided to give it a try. When we got to the restaurant around 2pm, it was still packed on the patio, however, they were able to squeeze us in. The service was exceptional and very attentive. The menu was in English and very nice to look at.

We ordered four dishes, the fried artichoke, cacio e pepe, lasagna, and tiramisu. We enjoyed everything but the cacio e pepe. As the name implies, it is a cheese and pepper pasta, however, there was barely any pepper on the pasta that we had. A more appropriate name would have been cheese pasta.

The lasagna was thick and delicious, however, the middle was a little cold! We think it might have been microwaved because of the quick amount of time it took to come out. The tiramisu was not traditional but very delicious nonetheless (the "lady fingers were very moist, almost cake like and soaked in espresso). This was one of my favorite tiramisus that I had in Italy.

One thing we were not aware of until the next day is that the restaurants close by are related to this restaurant. They include Cajo e Gajo, Tonarrello, and Nonarello. The names should of given it away to us! I mean, come on (Grazia and Graziella and Cajo e Gajo)! But, the next day after a full day of touring the Colosseum, Roman forum, and Palatine Hill, we were famished again and saw great reviews at these other restaurants. We ended up at Cajo e Gajo and the menu was exactly the same. We definitely wished we had eaten somewhere else that was more local and authentic. We would recommend going down the street to Dar Sor Olimpio e Drago (very authentic and delicious) and skipping these chain restaurants.

TL;DR Food wasn't bad, but would recommend skipping this restaurant for something more authentic in Trastevere.

Meal and atmosphere was amazing. We were able to sit inside right away during peak hours. The service was quick and the staff is very friendly and fun. They were always making jokes with us. I've had most of the food here and it is always very good. Cannot go wrong with the Cacio e pepe dish.
