My wife and I, plus our 5 year old daughter, felt really at home during our 9 day stay at Casa Eli. A hidden diamond on the outskirts of Roma’s City center, and the person who makes it shine is without a doubt the owner Elisabetta. She is very passionate about her B&B. With only 3 rooms, she is able to offer you a level of service that is first-rate and personal.
From the moment we arrived at Fiumicino airport, everything was perfectly organized. As soon as we arrived we got a phone call that our private cab was waiting for us in the lobby. Mr. Roberto Ciccotti from ‘Transfer Cruise Rome’ cie. took us in his air-conditioned big Mercedes mini-bus smoothly to the B&B in half an hour. This being a nice experience, we decided to use his services again when we returned back home. Nice bonus: as we reached for the airport, on the radio they started playing one of my favorite Italian songs “E penso a té” performed by Lucio Battisti, one of Italy’s best singer/songwriter’s. A perfect ending of our stay in Roma, the capital with the most beautiful anagram.*
The B&B is recently totally been renovated, what you see on the website is what you get. All modern comfort is there, and brand new: touch card entry, wifi, air-conditioning, flat-screen TV. We stayed in the spacious Azzurra room, which was cleaned every day to perfection. After 4 nights, the sheets were changed. Very important is also to mention that it is a very quiet neighborhood, so you can sleep sound.
To get to the center of Rome it takes a 5 minute walk to tramline n°8, which takes you in 15 to 20 minutes to Piazza Venezia.
The breakfast, or should I say breakfeast, was delicious and abundant: toasts, bread, corn flakes, boiled eggs, cheese, ham, salami, mortadella, jam, Nutella. The pastries, self-made or from the nearby bakery, where to die for. The fresh fruit(-salad) very much appreciated. And last but not least: espresso, cappuccino, chocolate and fruit juice.
Every morning we enjoyed a long breakfast, and had a nice chat with Elisabetta, who is also very nice with children. Our daughter too got really fond of her. Every morning she played a little game with her. Back home we still play daily "Sotto mano di papà, dove sta quì o quà?".
Elisabetta really listens to what your needs are, and then gives you advice on which train/bus/tram/metro to take, the restaurants you should check out, museums to visit… We were there for slow travel, but other guests where there for fast travel, and depending on what you want she will help you out. For instance on the day of our arrival she made a reservation for us in a local trattoria round the corner. No need to say that it was just what we needed, typical local cuisine on a very high level, and on top of that for a more then reasonable price. In case of emergency you can call her 24/24.
In a nutshell: We threw a coin in the Trevi fountain. Guess why ?!
thank you Elisabetta for everything.
