We booked to stay here as it was very close to the main station (Termini) and a metro stop at the top end of Via Nazionale. Although it is 4 flights up, the walk help remove some extra pounds we were putting on, we were very satisfied with the presentation of the hotel itself (Floris Hotel shares a building with other hotels and looks the most well presented of all of them).

The room was full of everything that you needed (except a bath - which we were really hoping for but that's just us).
Breakfast w's included but was cold food, the Ta and coffee was available all day through a machine there. Free WiFi was also available.
Great spot for getting everywhere, very quiet and well looked after.

We stayed here in December and were blown away by the service, the comfort, the location, the size of the rooms. It really was perfect. The breakfast was quite different to anything else we had come across in our travels, but wonderful. No problems finding the place, previous reviews to it being on the fourth floor of a hotel block were most helpful. No hesitation in recommending it, and will look no further for accommodation if in Rome again.

Walking distance from Termini, decoration modern and new, bathrooms impecable, breakfast very good, highly recommended. As any modern hotel you hear the noise of the next room. The area is very good and safe to walk at night. Subway is just one block away so in 15 minutes you get to the Vatican that is on the opposite side of the city

We stayed in Floris Hotel in late Oct. came into city via train from Venice. Usual rip off with taxi driver at station, but he got us to hotel (prox. 3-4 blocks away, nice walk without luggage). There were 4of us, found the lift up a short set of stairs, would only hold 2people, 2 luggage at same time. Also, if lift inside door not closed from last riders, lift would not work at all. Very frustrating if you are waiting to go up to rooms...on 4th floor. Lift needs upgrade badly. But the hotel rooms were very nice, large, comfortable beds, modern bath. Breakfast in small area, good food, varied dishes, friendly folks. Staff very helpful with directions, places to eat dinner close by. Also, provided plenty of ice for our evening cocktails in our rooms. We will go back again on our next visit to Rome. Very good value.

FIrst of all, we had never booked a hotel before which didn't take up the whole "building" before. It seems odd that three hotels share the five floors at no 251 Via Nazionale, and the one below wasn't rated highly at all. You could see it as you went pas in the lift, and it just looked a bit dated, but the Floris though, on the 4th floor, was gleaming white and clean.

The staff welcomed us, and let us into our room early. The room was a decent enough size, with a comfortable enough mattress, with a fridge, big flatscreen tv with hundreds of channels, though not a single English one. Floors were shiny wood. The bathroom was similarly sparkling and modern with a range of showerheads and a bath, toilet and bidet. Double glazed windows to help keep out the noise, desk and chair. Everything you could need.

Breakfast was included and there was a big selection, though you could tell it was all brought in from outside - lots of cold meat, cereals, pastries, tea and coffee, but no toaster and very little vegetarian choice. My wife asked for toast / a boiled egg but they couldn't do it. Unfortunately the cheese was on a plate layered with ham, so she just had yoghurt. It was very cramped too, though the staff brought out extra table and chairs which sat in the corridor when we arrived one morning to find it full.

It advertises soundproofed rooms, this is the double glazed windows keeping the traffic noise out, though we were at the back and didn't hear a thing. There is the usual noise from corridors, late night guests, etc, which did echo a bit.

Great location though, and once you got used to the lift, which could be left at other floors if people didn't shut the door, it was no issue the entire hotel being on a single floor. More than we could have paid, a lot less than we could have too, but worth it for the modern clean rooms. They all had a combination safe too.

Yet another place you wish you could have given four and a half to, but the teething troubles didn't cause any real problems.

The Floris is a nice new hotel which I’d especially recommend to:
- travellers wishing to combine their stay in Rome with visiting other cities by train;
- opera-lovers (5 min to Teatro dell’Opera di Roma);
- travellers staying in Rome for a short time.
LOCATION & AREA: ~10 min on foot from/to Roma Termini (Central railway station) and bus stops (you come there from Fiumicino Airport either by train or by bus). ~12-15 min to Trevi fountain, a bit more to Piazza Spagna or Pantheon. The hotel is in a much safer area than the part closer to Termini. The entrance is from the busy Via Nazionale which is lively day and night.
HOW TO FIND: Easily! Go straight From Termini to Piazza Repubblica (with a fountain), turn left to Via Nazionale. Just opposite the Quirinale hotel which you will see on your left, on the right look for the signs "Augustea" and "Hotel Repubblica" – the Floris shares the same building but by Nov'13 hasn’t made a big sign. The hotel’s on the 4th floor.
ROOM: Mine was a Superior Twin Room, but I’m sure all of the rooms offer high quality and cleanliness. Spacious, with a safe, flat screen TV, a/c (worked well!), soundproof windows (quiet!), a little fridge with bottles of water for free. Great shower! Design is simple, with “clear lines” and practical. Rooms in blue or red colours.
SLEEP QUALITY: Perfect! Good beds, pillows, linen. Quiet at night.
BREAKFAST: Very tasty and original! Served in a beautiful way, with options to different tastes. Lots of kiwi and strawberries in desserts.
EXTRAS: During the day you can get free juice, coffee or tea in the breakfast room.
STAFF: Friendly and helpful. Before my arrival we had some communication via mail – all issues were settled very quickly.
NB: The amount for the first night may be blocked on your card about 1 month prior to your arrival - standard practice for many hotels, especially in Italy: just be prepared.
THINGS TO IMPROVE:
- unpleasantly-looking common hall downstairs and a small old elevator (can’t be made bigger, but could look better) - hope the three hotels will find ways to invest in their renovation.
- little space in the breakfast area (didn’t have to wait, but all’s a bit cramped),
- travellers staying long and wishing to explore only central Rome should be prepared to walk quite a lot.
GENERAL IMPRESSION: Positive! Good value for money.

Room Tip: I imagine that the closest rooms to the breakfast area get more "internal" noise than thos...

I would have loved to stay at Floris Hotel. In fact, I made a reservation some 6 months ago and got a great deal. But just a few weeks ago this hotel canceled my reservation with no notice... When I contacted them they claimed there was a credit card issue... and said I could rebook... for over a 150% of the original reservation. Total bs... If this is how they treat guests, I am thrilled we aren't staying there.

We found a better hotel, less expensive, and in a better location... you can too. Keep looking.
