As mentioned by many reviewers before - this hotel has one major thing going for it - and that is location. Locationwise this hotel is absolutely perfect!
Staff were average, but I have experienced staff that are a little more enthusiastic and interested in their customers in hotels of this price range.
Choice for breakfast was also average - but with quite friendly service.

The greatest let-down for us was the room. We booked a small double - and the room itself was small but more or less what we expected in size BUT the bathroom was another story... To put it bluntly the bathroom was so tiny you could shave, shower and take a wee at the same time...
The room we stayed in was just outside the reception next to the elevator. With single glazed windows and a door with no sound isolation, we woke up during the whole night every night of our stay.... You could hear people coming back to the hotel - first walking up the steps, then talking in the reception. With the single glass windows you could hear people walking by outside and would wake up of people having discussions in the street at 3 AM. Cars driving by outside making deliveries (even though this is a quiet street car wise) It actually was so loud that you felt someone was standing in the room talking. to you...

SO if you wish to stay at this hotel - my tip would be to invest the extra euros in a larger room - and make sure your room is not next to the reception NOR has windows facing the street.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room not facing the street and not next to the reception area.

Dear Guest

I thank you for leaving your review of Hotel Forte and I thank you also for the many tips that you left us, but I'm sorry that you have not appreciated nor our breakfast service nor our reception staff. Just like you wrote citing the many reviews on tripadvisor one of our strengths is the position that , as you can see in the detailed map in our official website , it is really unique and all of our guests fall in love with Via margutta . But in almost all the other reviews it is also written that breakfast and the reception staff are very high level and I am very sorry that you are not of the same opinion , and I do not understand why at check in or the next day and you have not asked a quieter room , it would be a pleasure for us to give you room to your taste indeed you would have done an upgrade to a double standard or superior room at no extra cost . I hope you will give us a second chance, I promise I'll be surprised .

This small hotel was a gem. The staff were friendly, courteous and most helpful. The rooms, though small, had very comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet was first class. One small inconvenience was that the room had only one power socket which in these days of phones etc needing charged is insufficient and wifi had to be purchased each day. There was no noise from traffic or other guests. It is just round the corner from the Spanish Steps and a Metro stop which was very convenient for travelling around the city. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Dear Guest

First of all I would like to thank you for the time you devoted to write a review about Hotel Forte and I'm really happy that you enjoyed our work. all the staff of Hotel Forte is honored to work in one of the Historic Hotels of Rome and one of the most romantic and features of the Eternal City, and this of course is reflected in the way we do our work, and I also speak of course of the working girls cleaners and young ladies to serve breakfast, in fact, as you can read in the detailed description of our buffet in our official website, it is only thanks to the work of Sonia and Albertina who is able to offer a variety of products so high without affecting the elegance of the breakfast room. We will be happy to accommodate you in your next trip to the Eternal City. Thanks for everything.

This is a great central hotel on a lovely quiet street. I choose Hotel Forte after plenty of consideration and was happy with my choice, it came out best in my search for value, location and good ratings. We had a small double, which was fine as we were only staying two nights - if I was staying longer I would maybe choose a larger room. The room & bathroom were clean, comfortable & nicely decorated. It was fairly warm at night but there is air-con. The Breakfast was very good, fresh coffee, pastries and more.
Staff are friendly and provided a useful map of the city. I would return and would recommend Hotel Forte to family and friends. It was nice to be able to walk around the city streets in the evening and see the Trevi Fountain lit up and enjoy dinner locally. There are restaurants to suit all budgets...we enjoyed Pizza and wine, tasty and inexpensive. We got the metro to the Vatican and walked back over the Bridge which had a lovely view of St. Peter's Basilica.
I booked direct with the hotel via email as it was pretty much the same price as the other websites and cut out the middle man.
Rome notes: From Termini station hop on the Line A metro and get off at the 3rd stop - Spagna - the hotel is just a few minutes walk (exact directions on hotel website). You will come out of the metro station into the Piazza di Spagna where the Spanish Steps are.
Rome was busy & we had warm sunny days in April, I think in peak summer time it would be hotter & busier and less enjoyable while sight seeing.
Transfers: If you are flying out of Rome Ciampino Airport you get the Terravision Transfer from Termini station - the bus stop is at the Terra Cafe (where you need to pick up a boarding card) tickets can be bought there or from the newsagents stands. On arrival to Rome Ciampino you can easily purchase bus transfer tickets in the Terminal for €4, the journey takes about 40 minutes.
Happy Roman Holiday :)

Dear Guest

First of all I would like to thank you for iltempo you've been writing this fantastic review. Our position is really incredible, and the Spanish Steps is one of the best connected areas of Rome, from the airport in fact it takes less than an hour to get here, also from the Spanish Steps can be reached in less than 15 minutes walk all the major attractions of the city. Our rooms have been decorated to reflect fully the wonderful Margutta and his soul and the Renaissance, as you can see in this detailed photo gallery on our official website, the dominant colors are the Pompeian Red and yellow gold are the two official colors of Rome. Accommodate people like you is an honor and I hope that for your next trip to Rome you will choose us again.,

The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the breakfast was very good. The room we had (350) was very small and located just off the stairs and was very noisy when people would come up the stairs late at night when we were trying to sleep. It is very close to shopping and restaurants and the spanish steps and subway.

Dear Guest

Thank you for the review you wrote for the Hotel stronger. Our location is truly amazing and all our guests fall in love with the beautiful Margutta that, even if it is just 80 meters from the Spanish Steps and close to the most important boutiques in Rome, is a very quiet street and romantic, you can read more information in our official website. I'm sorry that the room you were assigned was not to your liking, if you had informed us we would have moved to one of our rooms more peaceful and quiet. I hope that when you come back to Rome we will choose again, I promise I will not let you down.

Just returned from Rome having spent our time at the Hotel Forte. Great location, very comfortable and good breakfasts. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. Those on the front desk very helpful and knowledgable.

Some rooms have only showers others also have baths so if you want to steep weary limbs after a days sightseeing ask in advance for one with a bath.

Slight problem keeping two mobile phones and laptop charged. Only one socket available which is only powered up when main light is on and key in sensor. So can only charge when lights on and in room.

Regardless this is the place to stay would recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

Room Tip: Room 132 has a bath and shower.

Hotel Forte is on the charming Via Margutta, just a stone's throw from the Spanish Steps and very convenient from the Piazza di Spagna Metro, which makes the transfer from Fiumicino by public transport very straightforward (4euros one way by bus, 1.50 euro each metro journey). Our room overlooked the street, but noise was not a problem. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. The shower had plenty of force and heat. The staff were most pleasant and helpful - no problem storing our luggage until our flight time on the last day. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Would definitely recommend Hotel Forte.

Room Tip: Ask for a large double - the bed was enormous!

The hotel was perfectly situated one block from the Spanish Steps and Metro. Lovely room and bath. Great rates for the area. Nice breakfast with hot and cold food. Only complaint is iffy wifi. The room was a tad small, but completely acceptable for the value.
