Tucked away out of sight of the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas, this hotel lies only a short walk from the Spanish Steps, expensive/exclusive shops and the Piazza del Popolo. It is located on a beautiful 'alleyway' named Via Marghutta which is dotted with small hotels, small independent art galleries and stylish restaurants. Even if you have no plans to stay in the Hotel Forte you should experience this location.
I booked our stay directly on the hotel's website and took advantage of one of the many special offers that they advertise. The booking service provided was quick, efficient and in English. I had questions about getting from the airport into Rome and they were answered immediately. They arranged a car at a cost of 60 euros (paid to the driver) and when we arrived at Fiumicino Airport we were met by a suited, cool looking driver who took our bags to a black Mercedes, with tinted windows, air conditioning, etc. It certainly took the hassle out of the journey and we arrived in style. I am told it is about 48 euros for a normal taxi ride from the airport to the hotel or a lot less by train to the Termini station.
We arrived at the hotel at 11.45 and understood that the room would not be ready until 14.00. However, the gentlemen at the reception desk, which is situated on the first floor (and is accessed by elegant spiral stars or an ornate wrought iron lift) told us we could have the room immediately. If you do arrive early, they will keep your luggage safe if the room is not ready and this will allow you to explore and get some lunch while you wait.
The room (118) contained king size bed, a second smaller bed which could double as seating, a desk, a large wardrobe, a safe (free to use), minibar (not overly expensive) and a large wall-mounted TV. There are internet/wi-fi and other TV services available at 6 euros a day. The room is air conditioned, with 3 power settings. This kept the room cool at all times and was a definitely needed given the temperatures of over 35 degrees each day. The bathroom contained bath/shower, toilet, sink, bidet, hairdryer, etc. Complimentary items for the bathroom were replenished each day.
The bed, which is the most important single item in any hotel room, was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The room was very clean and the bedding, curtains and décor are just as pictured in the brochure/web site. For a 3 star hotel it was just so classy and elegant.
Unlike some other reviews that I have read, we did not experience noisy guests, noisy lifts or limited breakfast options. The breakfast is a mixed continental/American buffet. There are fruit juices, cereals, hams, cheeses, croissants, yoghurts, cakes, toast, bacon, scrambled eggs and all types of hot beverages. The room used for breakfast is also the bar in the evening. It is small and contains 7 tables with 2 chairs to a table. However, since there are only 18 bedrooms in the hotel you will be unlucky not to get a table.
Throughout our 4 day stay, the staff were excellent. They were pleasant, offered good advice about local places and were always available. Our room was cleaned and tidied each day, the ladies at breakfast spoke good English and were catering for British, American, Australian and Italian tastes. We did not hear anyone complain.
This is truly a lovely hotel and although we were not able to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain because it was closed down for repairs, we will return to Rome soon and in all probability to the Hotel Forte.

Room Tip: The area is very quiet and so any of the rooms should be fine. The air conditioning unit in room 118 worked well and was not noisy.

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for the wonderful review you wrote about Hotel Forte. Our location is superb and all of our guests fall in love with the beautiful Margutta, one of the most fascinating and romantic Rome twice a year hosts a wonderful open-air exhibition, One Hundred Painters in Margutta, for more information visit our official website. Although the Forte Hotel is located just 80 meters from Piazza di Spagna, Via Margutta is a very quiet street closed to car traffic. I hope that when you return to rome you'll stay with us again. I thank you for your support and we hope to see you soon.

We stayed for 4 days in two families, occupying 4 rooms. The rooms were very clean, the staff was nice. Although there was no restaurant inside the hotel, the location is very central and near from very good options. We found the ambient very calm receptive. We do not have any complains about noise from inside or outside the hotel, that is very common in big cities. It's very near from the piazzas area and Borghese Park, that is an excellent place to relax and have a great museum to see.

Just moments from the Spanish Steps and the Piazza del Popolo (metro) and some of the most upscale shopping you will ever see. The staff were warm and wonderful, the breakfast was adequate, the rooms were small, clean and charming. We had the triple that had 2 floors. Via Marguatta was such a wonderful street to stay on quiet but so close everything. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Typical small European rooms

We've been to Rome a few times and it's difficult to find a hotel in a nice location for a reasonable price. Hotel Forte is exactly this.
We stayed with our 7 year old daughter for 4 nights in a triple room at the end of April.
The location is fantastic - right near the expensive shops in Rome and the Spanish Steps. Ideal for getting around Rome. The hotel is down a small "arty" street and is just beautiful.
The room we stayed in was a nice size - an L shaped room with a bed in the bottom of the L for my daughter to sleep in. The view from the room wasn't great but from talking to other guests you can have a nice view of the street, which is very noisy or a bad view of a courtyard, but these rooms are quieter.
Breakfast was great - plenty of choice and the lady was very lovely.
The staff on reception were very helpful and even let me practice my Italian on them and didn't insist on speaking English with me (very patient).
The only negative I can say is that when we visited Rome the weather was hot for us and the room was too hot. When asked why the air conditioning wasn't working we were told that they don't switch it on until May. This made the room VERY uncomfortable to sleep in.
Other than that - a lovely find in Rome.

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for the time you have spent to write this wonderful review of Hotel Forte. as you wrote the Hotel fort is one of the most romantic and quiet streets of Rome, Margutta, which is nicknamed the road deglia artists because it still is chosen by the artists who stay in the Eternal City. In addition, twice a year, Margutta hosts a world-famous exhibition, A Hundred Painters Margutta, and then at that time the road becomes a museum open sky, for more details visit our official website. we hope to see you soon, we will be happy to accommodate you again.

My family and I stayed 4 nights in Rome at the Hotel Forte and I can definitely agree with the other reviews that the location is just fantastic. So easy to get around in the city from this central location - very close to the Metro station.

We received excellent service from all of the hotel staff - from dinner reservations to directions to various locations around the city. They were overall eager to make our stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. Highly recommend Hotel Forte for the value and location.

Room Tip: One of the rooms was a 2-story room with the beds on one floor and the bath downstairs. Might want to be sure stairs aren't an issue.
