We had great pasta at this 'off the beaten track' local restaurant on our first night. The waiter was friendly and attentive, recommending a great local beer which I drank for the rest of my holiday. Cheers!

We were staying in an apartment close to this bar and we ended up stopping in every morning for a coffee. It really was the best coffee we had our entire stay in Rome.
The panini's were made fresh every day and tasted that way. And the pastries!! Yum
The dinner menu was mostly pastas and the price was extremely reasonable. We tried the spaghetti, tortellini, cabonara and lasange and all were fresh and delicious.
Drinks are also very, very reasonably priced.
The atmosphere is warm, friendly and welcoming.
A must visit at night when the locals visit and you can submerse yourself in the Italian experience.
Cannot recommend enough!!

Bar I Tigli at night, Caffe Braccio in the day.
Best coffee, panini and pastries! If you want to have a taste of the local food, this is the place to go. We stayed a few doors away from the Bar I Tigli/Caffe Braccio. Our first meal was a dinner of Fettucine bolognese, Tortellini with prosciutto in cream sauce, Coscia pollo con patate (roasted chicken with potatoes) plus drinks; bill totalled EUR28. And of course we went back for breakfast! Cappucinos, cinnamon doughnut & salami sandwiches were very very good. Coffee was the best we ever tasted (you will understand why there is no need for Starbucks in Italy, coffee tastes sooooo good.) Locals would drop by and have their coffee at the counter or in hand while chatting up the owners.
Food was absolutely delicious and at very reasonable prices! Service was quick, staff were very friendly, plus you get to mingle with the Romans. There is a bus stop just in front of the bar/cafe and during breakfast, the bus driver parked the bus in front of the bar/cafe, kept the doors open for passengers to hop on while he drinks his espresso at the counter & has a quick chat with the owners (just as Italians do). You can't get any more Italian than that.

We were staying in accommodation across the road from this bar so it became our evening stop for a thirst quenching beer after seeing the sights all day. Then we would call in again after our evening meal for a coffee and a night cap. Well used by the locals, it serves food as well as drinks. We loved the atmosphere and on our last night the waiter, one of the two sons, knew what we wanted without us even ordering. Great place!

We were staying a few doors away from I Tigli and came here every morning for breakfast. Marco the owner was ever friendly and would rustle up some ham and cheese paninis; or whatever we desired/was available; whilst one of his three sons would make the Italian coffee.

This is a locals cafe and they would stand to take their coffee, while we sat; but they were all friendly and helpful and we would meet a lot of the regulars each morning. The bus stop is right outside and while the driver got off for his coffee, we had time to finish up and board, for the short trip to St. Peter's.

We only went once in the evening - for the Karoke night. Every Friday Marco hosts a karoke night and encourages all to come. We went along as the only tourists and were welcolmed in. Aldo was particularly welcoming and could speak English - so my wife sang a song (In Spanish).

We only ate breakfast here; but it was a great start to the day and Bar I Tigli is the community centre for via Monte Del Gallo.

Marco came to our rescue on the final day, when our taxi/mini bus failed to arrive. He called a friend and a mini bus arrived.

Well done Marco! Keep up the good work.
