What a great little gem of a place! The room was lovely, had a real contemporary feel and a nice size. The bathroom was not attached to the room but was private for our use only which really wasn't a problem as there are only a couple of rooms anyway (so you can nip to your room in just a towel!) Breakfast was not served in the building but you get coupons for each day of your stay to get a coffee, juice and croissant at the max bar which is just a few doors away, and great coffee! We really enjoyed doing this and sitting outside on the pavement, taking it all in. St Peter's and the Vatican are just a couple of mins walk from the b and b, you can even see it from some of the windows at the b and b. Serena the owner sent us a fantastic email prior to going giving us every bit of info we needed too. We highly recommend this place, it really is great and such good value too, as good as any hotel that you would pay at least double for. We will def go back :-)

After a long but uneventful bus ride from Termini, we arrived at Alle Fornaci B&B, our hopes high, our spirits undimmed. However, upon carting our luggage up the ninety-nine steps, we were dismayed to note that "Bon," the proprietor's disdainful helpmeet, was angry that our train was delayed. Note that this sentiment was expressed in awkward English, although we are capable of pidgin Italian and told him we were hoping to practice.

The room itself was spacious and comfortable, as was the bed. The pillows were copious.

However, we realized to our great chagrin that the bathroom was in the hallway. (Not actually in the hallway.) We did have our own bathroom, but that didn't change the fact that it was separated from us by a dark and public abyss. Given the description on the website, we felt a little gypped.

The next morning started wonderfully when we realized how close the B&B was to the Vatican. Then we realized how FAR it was from breakfast. We had to descend the ninety-nine steps, go to a nearby cafe, and present a voucher for one beverage and one piece of dry toast. We found that we had to supplement our breakfast with yogurt from the grocery. Since we were hoping to save money by not spending on breakfast, this was a disappointment.

When we returned, tired, footsore, and overheated, we found ourselves dreading the long trip up the ninety-nine steps. Usually, "Bon" had turned off our A/C and opened our window. The A/C, even when on, wasn't always functional. We did find that if we unplugged the refrigerator and the bedside lamps while avoiding the hairdryer like the plague, the A/C worked marginally better. The Internet connection was similarly spotty, and we found ourselves waving our tablet in the hallway.

If you like the Vatican, ninety-nine stairs, the English language, tropical climates, banana yogurt, midnight treks with a toothbrush, and one piece of toast, then this B&B is for you!

My husband and I stayed at Alle Fornaci a San Pietro for 3 nights in July. We were very pleased with what we got! We were on a budget but still wanted to stay somewhere clean, close to the centre and in a safe area. The room was extremely clean and modern and the air-conditioning worked wonders. We paid a little more for the room with the view of the Vatican and it was worth it, so nice looking out the window and seeing the dome of St Peter's. The room was a good size, plenty of room for our luggage, though not much closet space which wasn't a problem for us. The owner was extremely friendly and helped us out when we wanted to leave our bags at the apartment on our last day so we didn't have to lug them around all day before our late flight. Please know that it is literally a small apartment with a few rooms off the corridor of the flat, not a hotel. You get a key for the main door to the building from the street, a key to the apartment, and then a key to your room. Its like house sharing but we had our own bathroom and hardly heard the other people except in the mornings when they started earlier than us and had to shut the large apartment door behind them. It is quite the trek walking up the stairs in the building, its about 4 or 5 floors up with no lift so if you are unfit or not that young I wouldn't recommend you stay here.

We caught the 64 bus from the Termini to get there. Took us about 20 mins. Once you go over the river, the bus will go under a bridge like you're in a tunnel, then get out at the next stop and the road is just back a bit from the stop. To get into the main area of Rome (like Piazza Navona) we walked through the Vatican and crossed the river. Not a bad way to start each morning and end each day with such an incredible sight. We had dinner on the street that the b&b is on on two of the nights. I wouldn't recommend the food at the restaurant right below the b&b, but the one across the street was nice. Breakfast was a croissant or a toasted ham & cheese 'toast' with coffee and juice. Not huge, but gave you something to start your day with. It was at a cafe 1 minute further up the street.

We walked everywhere from the b&b, but it is about a 15-20 min walk to the main winding streets. We were able to walk to the Colosseum but that was about an hour away. If you don't to walk that much the bus stop with the 64 bus is right there if you need it.

All in all I would highly recommend this b&b for its value for money, comfort and location. I'm so glad we decided to stay here. If you are a single traveller or a young couple looking for a good base for exploring Rome then this is perfect. Rome is by far our favourite city in the world so enjoy!

We were very pleased with our choice, the location to the Vatican is unbeatable.
My wife and I were most impressed that Marius (the owner) not only arranged transfers from the airport but also met the family at 5.30 in the morning and arranged breakfast for us all!
Nice guy, nice place to stay!!!

Pros: Location, location, location

Cons: Advanced cash payment

This is not typical B&B that you wold expect. This is an apartment with few rooms. But...
I like to be in a walking (short bus ride) distance from all sites that I want to see. Alle Fornaci a San Pietro is a place to stay if you want to get to know Rome in shortest time possible. It is about 200m from Piazza San Pietro. Also, short walk from Castel Sant' Angelo (1km)
I didn't notice the noise (maybe I was to tired from sightseeing) Also you must know that Rome is really chaotic city (this explains the noise) but that is why we liked it so much.
The bus (number 64) station is across the street (app 50m south) and is going to Termini Station through center of the city so you can easily get to any historic location you want.
The B&B is clean and nice and Serena was very helpful.

The only thing we didn't like:
When we booked this B&B there was information that they are accepting credit cards but they asked for cash.

But at the end we had great time and I would recommend this B&B for everyone that wants to get to know old Rome.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Alle Fornaci a San Pietro! Everything exceeded our expectations. The room was very beautiful, clean, with an amazing, comfortable bed. The breakfasts were really nice. Location of Alle Fornaci gives the opportunity to feel Rome’s spirit. YES, LOCATION was perfect. We explored everything on foot and every morning, before starting our day, we enjoyed the view of San Pietro. We stayed here for five nights. Mr Bon was really helpful. THANK YOU!
