“Very Friendly, Clean and Comfortable”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

I stay here at the Serena Hotel each time I visit Rome. The staff are great and remember me each time I visit even if I don't visit Rome for a year or two. Just a block or two from subways, busses, trains and a short walk to any site in Rome. Room rates are very good, rooms very clean and comfortable. Hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: Each room I've stayed in were great over the last 12 years

It was not really a breeze finding the hotel even though it is really really near, reason being the not very obvious signage outside. We entirely missed the sign outside, went inside the side opening and even rang the bell for some other smaller B&B on other levels. Turned out it was a much better hotel that I thought.

Reception was a breeze and so was getting into the life (which was the largest ancient lift we encountered so far, it can fit 3 person!). Our room was on the 3rd floor, not much of a view since the window opens to a back alley but since we were only staying for 2 nights, it's ok. At Euro 63 per night, including breakfast, I would still call this a worthy stay.

Our room is considered average-sized, with a kitchenette on the side, but no utensils or pots so it's useless. Toilet seems newly renovated, but the toilet bowl was right behind the door so if anyone is using it, it would be possible for the door to be opened. Heater coils in the bathroom proves very useful esp. for drying some simple washing. Bed looks hard but not so, as I was happy to have found out.

Breakfast was on 2nd floor in a small dinning room. Basically you just went in, find a table, sit down and get your food. Nobody really checks but again there weren't a lot of choices either. Coffee, tea, milk, cereals, breads, 2-3 types of ham & sliced cheese, plus some fruits. For 2 days it was ok, anything longer it's not very appetising.

Service was good. For the wifi, you would need to get a slip of paper from the front desk every 24hours for a new ID and password. Connection & speed wise is not too bad though. Overall, we were quite happy with the stay.

Room Tip: Note to ask for a bath tub if you need one, but given the size of the toilet, I wished I didn't.

Great location - we walked to all of the major tourist sites pretty comfortably. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Buffet breakfast was very good - wide selection and plenty of it. Dining room was a bit small but we found a table every day and the breakfast was available up to about 10am.

Room was a bit small (we had a triple with 3 single beds) and the beds were very firm - though we all slept well. En-suite was clean, modern and a good size. Only negative was that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - so take a travel kettle!
Overall, very good and would stay again.

Nice small hotel close to Stazione Termini. Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk.We stayed 3 nights then went on a week tour of Sicily and were offered storage for extra luggage until back in Rome for 2 days. Complained about a small room and immediately got a larger room. Wifi doubtful but internet cafe across the street. We were happy for the price we paid. Had a beautiful dinner next door at the Elettore Restaurant. Cheers!

I found the hotel to be clean and the employees to be very friendly and helpful. There breakfast was the best breakfast offered to us from all the hotels we stayed at. It was located very close to the train station, which was very handy. They had a cute elevator. Free wifi, but it was a pain. You had to constantly keep logging in. The wifi and blow dryer was the only down fall of this place. I would stay here again though.
